Severson for Yamamoto and Russell. Let’s do this.

He was a healthy scratch. I would think Shero would jump at that deal.

That he was, for reasons I still cannot fathom. I mean sure, Severson has his warts, but he was still far from the biggest liability on Jerseys blue line.

Everyone is tradable for the right return, but I don't get why the coaching staff doesn't like Damon Severson. He's still just 23 and seemed like he made real improvement this year over last season.

I'd rather trade Nesreddine and bring in a real defensive coordinator like Scott Stevens.

Ik the Devils need a top left pairing D-man, but any chance you see Severson get flipped in a deal for Subban?

If Severson is traded, it's going to be for something that sends ripples and waves and tsunami's through the hockey world. Something like Severson, Mcleod, and Zacha for a Mr. Erik Karlsson

I can see NJ trading him but I wouldn’t unless NJ signs Carlson which makes Severson a third pairing right handed defenseman. At that point I’d consider trading him for a left handed defenseman who can play in top 4.

Completely agree with Todd. I think there's some real potential for Severson to be a top-4 guy, but clearly there is a disconnect between Shero and Hynes. Nobody could possibly argue that, based off of talent alone Severson didn't deserve minutes over Lovejoy or Mueller, or probably even Moore.

I could see him being moved but I don't want it to happen. But then again, we'd have to see what it nets the Devils in return.

They literally can not afford to keep him especially if they win the cup this season he will get paid even more then he’s really worth

I think Severson is the best asset the devils have to move in a trade. If Shero can find a way to include him a trade for a star player like a Karlsson or OEL just to give as examples, I'm sure Ray will try to find a way to make it happen.

I guess you don't know how salary caps/cap hits work, plus the cap going up, they definitely can afford to keep him lol. Hopefully he'd take a discount for them though, because paying him 7.5+ million is not worth it at all, I'd want no part of him if he gets to free agency

Exactly. We've seen enough "immovable" contracts get moved. Teams can make it happen.

if the Devils learned anything from their first round exit.....it is that they need to grow a set of nuts! Severson plays too soft to be effective in the playoffs. It is almost as if each team has to have a "regular season" unit and a "playoff" unit! The Devils need to get some grit...and Severson could just be the best asset to move in order to make that happen.

I don't disagree that they need to get a bit tougher, but I don't see Severson as a pushover. To that extent I'd argue this is even more of a reason to let Moore walk.
