Only reason you refuse to see that is cause Drouin is French |

what is obvious for me is that Drouin was not playing at is position all year long....the way you talk is that Drouin is a 4th line overrated player .... with no help in front playing as a center at 22 i don'T think no one can say he's a flop... they just hired Ducharme (his coach from Junior) i think it will help him a lot....... i saw drouin as an Elite player in this league...not because he's french...because of is skill set and is passion for the game...maybe i'm wrong but maybe not... time will tell ! |

I see him as a perimeter player who doesn't like to get his hands dirty, sure he's got skill but he's not a gamebreaker and he's not a C, which is the only thing they should of considered trading Sergachev for |

I wouldn't care if he was Chinese, I still think Drouin can mount up to something.
I really like what I saw at the world junior back then.
but agreed that was a really sub par season. hopefully it changes next year
edit : and for Sergachev, Probably I would have looked good to with TB this year |

Pretty sure those rumors got shot down quickly and were never reputable in the first place. - eichiefs9
yes cause a rumor being shut down means its all not true.
Lets not loose sight that it would diminish its trading value

Sergachev looked good before he was in Tampa, it's why he was taken where he was and it's why he immediately became the Habs' most valuable asset... Saying he was an overpayment doesn't mean Drouin is not a good player, it just means the asset you sent wasn't worth as much as the asset that came back... And if Sergachev was to be traded, it would have to of been for a C

Ok I get it. the Habs have made some bad trades lately, but nobody in there right mind will pay $10 million for a 40 point player. This is the contract that is killing Chicago. The leadership aspect of his game is NOT worth $10 million. Montreal has a leadership core that albeit underachieving, is tight and is getting better(Take a look at Gallagher this year). Toews is not a legit number 1 center. He would be number 2 on most and 3 on some rosters. Please MB don't make this horrible move. I don't even want to get into what Chicago would want for him. |

Mr. Elund,
I don't get it. You were "finally given the go ahead". By whom? One of the Habs or Black Hawk brass? Please clarify.
As a Hab fan, I would do this deal in a heart beat. Toews had a bit of an off year for him. Price had a mega off year. The former has a contract that runs 5 more years. The latter's runs 8 more years at the same price. The Habs have no #1 center. Not even a #2 center. They have a few decent goalies. Crawford would be welcome but not for Galchyenyuk. The latter has too much potential. He was leading the league in scoring for a month or so a couple of years ago until his knee was taken out. His defensive minded coaches and managers don't have a clue. You can trade him, but get back some scoring either in the guise of a forward or defenceman.
The Hab's have a dearth of scorers. Owing to his contract demand in a few months, Patches may be traded. That leaves us with Gallagher and Byron. Not nearly enough.
I can't imagine Chicago making this trade. I'd love to see Price go, however. The Canadians never rebuild. So look for a "big splash" blockbuster trade in a few weeks or so. |

The ONLY roster I'd see Toews as the third down the depth chart would be Pittsburgh, behind Crosby/Malkin.
Name another roster with equivalent center depth, yes even at Toews diminished offensive production, he still beats the rest of the "2C's" in the NHL (save Malkin...)
Edit: An argument could be made for Edmonton as well with McDavid, Draisaitl/RNH... |
