You know he costs $10.5 Million, is 30 years old and has ONE Point-Per-Game season in his career, right?

I'd pass on Stastny and if he swings and miss on Tavares you suggest he makes things worse by adding a bad contract? If he can't get Tavares, finish at the bottom again!! That's how you build, not by taking on other teams mistakes

I think we simply stand on opposite sides of the fence on this one.

Not to me. Toews is a warrior and a heart and soul player.

Did Smillie or Ek? I thought it was against the COc to post made up stuff?
- Iggysbff

This comment is silly. Find anywhere where I said Toews will move his NTC so I can be reprimanded for violating to COC.

I’ll wait...

You came to troll and got mad you couldn’t. If you can’t have conversations without being a knob you should probably look in the mirror and think about how you feel on the inside

I dont disagree with Smillies idea of getting a Toews and what he could do for the team. Since Toews is still a good player, yes overpaid. But a better C than what you have. But continuing to lose is bad for your vets you have now. Time is running thin for them to continue competing to win. If you keep wanting to finish at the bottom to draft good. Those players aren't likely to play for awhile. Smillie is in a try and compete now mindset. I however disagree at the prices he thinks it'll take to get any of these guys.

Cap is heading up for a while.
- Brandon Smillie

Great. You're still paying 25% of your cap on two 30+ year old players next year.

In 3 years that'll be down to a much more manageable..... uh... 20%?

His production over the last 3 seasons is the same as that of Patches, only with less goals, more ice time, and more penalties.

The "he's a better C than you have" is a BS way to look at it... With that mentality they should sign Bozak for 7 years @ 10, because he's a better C than they have!!!

So for you. Your plan is to try and sign Tavares. And if that fails just let the team fail? Hope to draft well. And let your core age even more? The back up plan to not getting Tavares is simply that?

I think alot of fans would rather have a few bad seasons and get back up slowly with Price and Weber mentoring the kids than trying and fix a sinking ship.

Adding Toews would make the Habs a better team, it may even help making the playoffs.

We still would be nowhere close a to a Stanley cup imho.

This roster with Toews minus Galchenyuk would fail worse so I'm not sure what the question is

Yup. You’re definitely a Tanner clone. Poking easy holes in your silly blog “rumour” that is based off a rumour from Ek isn’t trolling. It’s common sense.

$512,195 per goal.

That's what Jonathan Toews has cost the past two seasons.

And that price will only rise over time... Like I said, Scott Gomez territory but it's ok cause Toews is a "warrior"
