Justin Lowe: Those Guys Are Better: Washington Capitals
Just as quickly as I could write about how great the Tampa Bay Lightning are, they find themselves down 2-0 to the Washington Capitals.

The Lightning are still a great team and appear to be set up well for the next few years. Also, they aren't 100% out of this series but damn, the Caps look great.

I hope you didn't just jinx the Caps, like you did the Bolts.

Any word on the EK rumoe that the NYI are interested in Crow.

Fine print in the Kempny trade.

Nah, they wont get swept, and they aren't really overrated imo, at least not at forward.

the D corps might be a bit overrated. McDonough, Girardi and Coburn are all meh to me. Hedman and Stralman are nice d-men

I’m oddly in the same boat. I would love to see Ovi get a cup. If for nothing else, just to see the elation/relief when it happened.

Ha. I probably just did.

I did not hear anything on Crow and the Islanders, no.

The only way that happens if the Hawks land another goalie that's locked up long-term for less money, an absolute STUD younger goalie that they can build around or it's a complete tear down.

The Hawks could be worried about Corey's long-term though and maybe that's why his name could be popping up. Also, on the flip side, Garth Snow might be looking for pro-active ways to make Tavares stay in town and locking in a goalie like Crawford would do it.

One theory (... and it's just a theory, NOT a rumour) is that if the Hawks can get a really amazing, "can't pass up" deal for Crawford from NYI they take it... with a former goalie coming back in a subsequent trade... Scott Darling.

Darling knows the Hawks and the Hawks know Darling. He didn't have a strong year (obviously) in Carolina so not many teams would take a chance on him... the Hawks might be the only team and they could look to buy low.

Me too... OV has been nothing but an amazing ambassador for the game and deserves his time with the Cup!

Q is a bit like Babcock in that regard... super stubborn with certain players.

Even if Kempny wins the Conn Smythe, Q would likely still think he "needs more time from the sidelines". ha.

Yes, but Q's day must get scratched 27 times before he actually GETS the day with the CUP - needs to feel the anticipation of getting it and you know TG, most certainly other guys have the requisite skills to know what to do before Q will get the chance.

EDIT: here's a nice thought: maybe Kempny sends Q some ducats to the upcoming 2 games in Tampa.

"Hi Q, it's Michael Kempny. Remember me? Probably not. Thought you'd like to catch a few conference finals games I'll be playing in while you're in Florida GOLFING."

Kempney did not have a short lease ,he had a noose around his neck from Q . Q power struggle with the FO is killing this team from the inside out and he or Stan or both must be moved before this team get's any traction .I believe Q is the one that should go as his pick a name out of a hat routine for a starting line up is getting plenty old , also a PP that is abomination defense that don't hit a team that is afraid to stick up for each other . This all falls on the coach who's ego has gone unchecked since the big contract . At least Stan attempts to bring in talent ,and work with a tight cap . Well Q throws his hands in the air and storms out off the room . Should have been fired on Daft day last year !! ,that would have been some headlines for McD .

I also hope Justin did not Jinx the hogs with that can't lose statement .A week off seems awful long time in the playoffs . A lot can go stale in that time ..GO HAWKS !!

You can talk all you want about centers, forwards, defenseman but the biggest difference is the man between the pipes. Kempny, Orlov and Orpik are still irresponsible defenseman but it's been Hotby bailing them out. Love Eller reminds me of a young healthy Kruger. 10-2 with Holtby and now they look like the Kings of 2012 getting all the bounces

So we have heard Craw and Teows in rumors as well as AA and maybe keith. Seabs cannot be traded and I do not see them trading kane no matter what the offer. would people be open to trading any of those 4 knowing the return is not going to be huge: Keith age and decling play Avg contract, AA more of 2/3 Center and gets hurt allot, Craw injury history and goalies do not seem to bring a ton back, Teows declining play and over paid. Watching the playoffs this year I just don't see this core ever being able to get out of more then maybe 1 round at best. I think I would be open to moving any of them depending on what came back.

In regard to Q I think its time for a new voice. the old guys are getting bad quickly and Q is just not a great coach for young players IMO. Also I wish I knew how much control Bowman has compared to Q, MCD, and Dad. he has been Below AVG since 2015.

And the Caps deserve it, after years of losing to inferior Pittsburgh teams

Doesn't Crawford have some kind of an NMC/NTC in his contract?

Would he consent to going to NYI, even if he's sure Tavares would resign?

Toews/#8 for #3 pick/Galchenyuk

Crawford to NYI for either 11th / 12th overall.

Picks/prospects to Carolina for Darling

Do we do these deals?

EDIT: Imagine all of Toew's "intangibles" and him "fixing" whatever is wrong in the Montreal locker room

I for one would be shocked if Toews goes anywhere. Seabrook, and Keith maybe, can't believe they'd move Toews.
