For all of those on here clamoring for Debrincat to play with Kane next year they are on the big ice at the worlds and they look terrible together

They should absolutely keep Forsberg and continue to develop him regardless of what the plan is next season. Him being the backup isn't a problem. Him having to be the starter was the issue. He needs to work on some aspects of his game but he had a better SV% than some more established goalies last season. Talbot, Schneider, Holtby, Ward, Murray, Allen, Price, Anderson, Darling, Greiss, Johnson, Mrazek.

Not saying he will be, but he could still be the guy for the Hawks down the road. It takes a while to develop goalies...Crawford didn't get it until age 28 after his somewhat dreadful 2011-2012 season. Or for example think about Craig Anderson, who the Hawks gave up on about the same age and he went on to have some pretty darn good seasons.

Forsberg has to tighten up a few things and get those soft goals out of his game, but he should be back to battle for playing time.

I think his problem is more between his ears that with his ability. Just needs some more experience and build confidence

I agree. He never looks confident and that leads to him making mistakes. I hope he can put it together.

Once he let's a softie in he's done. Crawford had to overcome similar issues. But not to the same extent though.

god no. Home baseball teams wear white because back in the olden times, the road greys didn't show dirt when teams did not have time/access to laundry facilities.

Hockey is not baseball. Color sweaters at home for the home team.

- scottak

I agree with home whites, would make for colorful road sweaters. Let's see something other then red vs white.

I disagree with trading Forsberg. His form and his early years are very similar to Crow. It took him a while for him to find his stride in the NHL.

Also Forsberg has had stretches in the AHL similar to what Delia is having now. It is too early to anoint Delia as heir to the throne.

Goaltending depth is not a bad thing. (Especially when your #1 goalie has had concussion and maybe other chronic injury issues.)

Go into camp next year with Crow, Forsberg, Delia and an experienced NHL backup and let the chips fall where they may.

Glass can be in the picture too. But I would hate to see him make the big club out of camp.

Another interesting read, Ejdsell may end up developing into pretty good pickup:

So we should judge after 3 games together with a center that is new to both of them on a larger ice surface.

A little bit of a knee jerk reaction.

What do you think, should he be a target this off-season? Just wondering if Hossa's relationship with the Stastny family could bring him here on a value contract.
- powerenforcer

HEs found a good spot with the jets, he’s coming off a $7M deal. If we can get him for $3M and two years, yes. Other teams will be in the hunt though for more money.

It would make AA more expendable, but I love love having too many centers. Look at the teams left: WPG, NSH, TBL, WAS all have three good centers you can name off the top of your head. They all also have award nominated goalies.

Speed and youth are huge still, but this is the year of the goalie.

Just curious, how many odd man breaks they give up last night, is it anything like the NHL team?
- BetweenTheDots

I didn't see one odd man break against, but I didn't watch the entire game. They definitely look more structured on defense than the hawks looked all year to my eye.

That's the thing though, Crawford has always had some mental fortitude...even if he lets in a softy, he shakes it off and gets right back into it.

I haven't really seen that with Forsberg...yet. He seems to lose it mentally after letting in a softy or two, at least so far.

In a similar vein, Forsberg won the Calder Cup a few years ago in the Jackets system and was considered too good for the AHL with nothing left to prove. Sure, but that doesn't mean he's fully developed at the NHL level.

Same could go for Delia if the Hogs make a deep playoff run and even reach the Cup finals. Whether or not they win the Cup, Delia still has quite a ways to go to be NHL ready as a backup let alone a starter. Let him play at least a full season if not two in Rockford then see where he's at.

Agree with others who referenced Crawford and Anderson as examples of goalies that took time to be truly ready as an NHL starter.

2012 Crawford was a disaster against the Coyotes. And he was 28 or so then, Forsberg is way younger and is a more highly touted prospect.

I don't blame Forsberg for getting torched with this team last year. He's the first 'top prospect' goalie the Hawks have had in recent memory. No chance do I let that go.

From Dobber: 'August 2016 – Forsberg led Lake Erie to a Calder Cup win. When fellow Columbus prospect Joonas Korpisalo struggled early on in the postseason, Forsberg came in and never looked back, going 9-0 and posting an astounding 0.949 SV%. He certainly brought himself back into the mix as a legitimate Columbus prospect. He'll remain in the AHL in the season ahead, but if Sergei Bobrovsky gets injured again – how well Forsberg does with Lake Erie compared to Korpisalo's performance will decide which one will get the call to start with the big club. It won't be Curtis McElhinney, that's for sure. Dobber'

Sounds a lot like Delia.

Oilers are shopping the #10 pick. https://twitter.com/Coppe...s/994368693420351488?s=19

I'd trade the Nashville pick and a roster player for that. 8 and 10 would be pretty nice.

- ObeseOprah

Who would edmonton want off the roster for that trade to work?

Very good point, Delia is only 23 years old. Bringing him up to early would be a huge mistake. Crawford was 26 when he stepped up to the NHL as our starter. Let the kid develop IMHO.

Chiarelli is a sucker for big bodies: Maybe Anisimov and Hayden

This guy has traded for or signed (and overpaid nearly everyone of them) Lucic, Maroon, Kassian, Strome, Larsson, Fayne, Pouliot, Korpikoski.

Maybe the Hawks can fool him into a package for some of our more 'truculent' players.

Didn't see the game today, so his/her comment surprised me. All of the articles following the last game seemed to imply they looked great together and should therefore be playing more time together on the Hawks.

Against Latvia yesterday, each had two assists - one each on the PP, one each 5x5. AdB's were primary. Each assisted on White's goal at EV.

How bad could they have been together?
