Pens seem to do better against the Caps when they clamp down defensively. No risky plays, no D pinching, just beat them with speed of FWDs going north-south. And agree - can't take penalties. You never know what is going to get called anymore. So best is not to do stuff that will get a penalty. Big game on Saturday. Let's do this!

That 3rd was awful. Shades of Game 7 last year. Makes me a bit worried that the Pens are able to flip a switch and subdue the Caps fore check so easily. Especially when they were down by 1 in the 3rd period.

There was like 5 1/2 minutes of nothing in the neutral zone.

Yeah. It's like watching the Devils from 3 years ago play. It is very effective in the playoffs when protecting the lead.

I was actually hopeful that the Pens would be able to shut it down in the 3rd of Game 3 when they were up 3-2. That Nisky goal off Murray's glove was a dagger. I kind of felt the tide was turning after that.

My fiance was yelling at me to stop yelling at Trotz. I also saw Orpik on the ice inside 5 minutes too. Gersich made a horrible play when the Caps finally gained entry. WHY ARE YOU ON THE ICE IN THE FIRST PLACE.

I absolutely agree. The overzealous pinching needs to stop as well. You don't need to pinch on 50/50 plays in a tie hockey game, you pinch when you know you're going to be successful.

On that Oshie PPG, Ruhwedel is standing right in front of Murray. I honestly don't think Murray makes the save anyways, but if Ruhwedel stays with DSP a little bit he likely blocks the shot (like the Caps probably would)

Not only is Trotz an over-rated coach, but he is a cranky, smart-ass, bias baby as well. The looks on his face, the head shakes. He presents himself like he is always right and everyone who disagrees with him is an idiot.

Just seems when we lose, Sully will say "we will study tape and practice what we need to improve on and come out next game. the past is the past, we can only control next game" and when the Caps lose, Trotzs will just whine and make excuses, and claim the league is in conspiracy with the Pens, all the calls went against him, his players are never dirty and so on...

It's so GD annoying. Even Caps fans must be tiring of his character and attitude.

The past few years the Pens look like a different team in 3rd periods of must, or pretty much must, win games. We've seen a lot of low shot totals for opposing teams in 3rd periods. Begs the question: why not play that tight most or all of the time? haha.

Nah. It was a charge and it should have been called, but I don't think he made contact with Letang's head. Letang and Oshie have prior history from years back. I think both have moved on.

The league prefers guys having to antagonize fights rather than just saying let’s go. The farther from old school Canadian hockey you get the more dangerous the game gets. Tom Wilson embodies this.
