If he was playing hurt all year until they finally shut him down it would make sense why he wasn't playing up to expectations.

I like his game for the 2nd pair. Was probably the best on the team in zone exits for and entries against. Only finished 2 points back of risto in 5v5 scoring despite playing 20 less games.

Mccabe is on a great contract. He will be a great player when healthy and in the proper role.

We should be looking to make some forward moves to shift some of our players down to an appropriate role.

We have depth a center...so if ROR or Reinhart are traded away, we'll be fine.

But to trade away a good defenseman...like Risto or McCabe or Scandella...will just result in most on here throwing a fit 6 or 7 months from now about how we still need another NHL d-man.

No McCabe and Scandella are not all stars, but I bet you money that they'd start over Ruhwedel for Pittsburgh or almost anyone on Vegas. And probably 28 out of the 31 NHL teams would plug Risto in on their top line.

Guhle has great potential, but still needs some work; Dahlin, for as amazing as he looks, still hasn't played a single NHL game; Nelson is probably best suited to a 3rd pairing role...am I missing anyone? cuz the prospect pool is pretty damn shallow after that.

LHD's on the roster, or in system
Dahlin
McCabe
Guhle
Scandella
Pilut
Bryson
Stephens
Bud!ck
Chukarov
Martin

plus whoever we draft

Scandella or McCabe will be moved in the next 15 months IMO

I’m a big McCabe fan. Solid bottom pair defenseman for a cheap contract. Can hit and can make a decent first pass.

good points...but even trading away ror or skunk means moving talent out the door...I don't know if they'd be fine trading away talent when their in need of more...

why not move ror to wing?...it seems that's where he'll be playing at the WC

To that end...can we all agree that we are running Botts out of town if he doesn't draft Dahlin?

Rather is Scandella then. Will be 29 next year, don’t want him to be here for a new contract that will be in his mid 30s.

McCabe is only 24. Can sign him till he’s 30 prob for 2 million a year and not worry about your bottom pair.

Scandella can fetch a younger guy that fits our time line better.

I like McCabe a lot. I think we missed his physicality this year when he was out. But he is on a great contract and we have 5 LHD. I know some don't think Guhle will make the team, but I beg to differ.

I wouldn't be opposed to moving him for the right player. McCabe or Scandella are the only players we could trade from the back end imo, because they are the only ones on the left side with any value.
