I think that's reasonable and I would expect that too.

I think it sucks that they've gone from first to worst but also recognize some of that comes with the territory of drafting at the end of the first round and subsequent rounds, going for it at the TDL the last several years, and having to pay up for winning.

Here's a statement of fact for you. They won 3 Cups in 6 seasons where they won 3 in their previous 80+. They didn't win any in the first 40 years of my fandom, so please forgive me for actually enjoying something I thought didn't seem very likely to happen the first time and then two more times in my lifetime. In the future I promise to piss and moan and get way more upset about things...like you.

Loved Frolik, Shaw, Oduya, Emery and CO. He helped put together a record setting 2013 Cup team and we are all thankful for it. Both he and Q earned a mulligan for last year, but the trend with Bowman and this team does not inspire much confidence. Hopefully Stan proves me wrong over the next 12 months. We all want the Hawks to win, that’s why we’re fanatics posting on a blog in May. It is my opinion that Stan Bowman was unqualified from the beginning and his position is nepotism at its finest. Hawks need to get a former NHL player in charge IMO. Jets vs Preds is some great hockey. Go Jets!

Why wasn't a penalty called on Rinne when his stick made the save in the first period? He did not have the sstick in his hand, therefore he threw the stick at the puck. That is a penalty all day in the NHL.

Time for Bettman, the owners, the PA, Player Safety, agents, broadcasters, and anyone else who has any input into how they play the game that entertains us so much to get their heads out of their asses, look around, and recognize clearly that there is a link between hits to the head and CTE and othe brain anomalies.

Before the law and the courts do (like is happening to the NFL), before hockey is banned for kids in selected locations (like tackle football is)....

A start would be following International rules, playing without a brain bucket is the same as playing with a broken stick; 2 minute minor.

$4.5 for 2 years sounds more doable given that de Haan currently earns $3.3 and he would probably be seeking at least $4.0 for 4+ years. I'd much rather have de Haan, but if not and other options are not available, Johnson at $4.5 for 2 years isn't that bad.

My feeling is that this summer Dmen will be highly sought after, grossly overpaid and sign longer term contracts than justified. Rutta's contract will not look so bad. Jack Johnson and DeHaan are going to get large raises and sign for more than 4 years. If the cap goes to $80 mil expect teams to give out some crazy contracts. The Hawks already have a Dman on one of those crazy contracts (Seabs). They better be sure they do not add another.

Or he dropped his stick.
Or it was knocked out of his hand.

Quinn Hughes is the 7th defenseman for Team USA in the World's today, not sure if he gets to play with the IIHF's extra skater rule or not. He'd be skating with Kane, Debrincat, Murphy, and Oesterle if he gets on the ice.

I wonder if Stan has scouts there or if he'll ask for input from our guys to see how Hughes is doing against NHL talent. I'm not sure of the compete level in these tournaments, I imagine it's around 90% with less checking.

Question: after each round of the playoffs do they add more guys (there's some CBJ players and NJD players), and send certain guys home?

Fair. They added a little cap hit and saved about the same amount in actual cash, too.

Or maybe they're setting themselves up for a Kruger for Anisimov swap. #capspace

It's a small thing, but it's weird to see the hurricanes make a move where the actual amount of salary they'll be paying is higher than the cap hit.
