Just saying that Jets defense blueline crew is in direct conflict with the reported trump the smallish quick very talented dmen so highly rated nowadays. Wiz says they trump anything they are weak at or cannit do, because their offense is so great and desired.
That is fine and i believe him. He is BBC asing his opinuon on the hundreds of sampke he views on tape or other places. But a big mean defense that has some (emphasize "some) quickness remains mighty desirable. Although to assemble the cast the Jets have is no small task. They can still be beat, too. Great hockey as enzo and others report - jhawk59

Oesterle, Gustafson, Rutta, Forsling.... the whole gang can't hang with the best in the NHL. - EnzoD
I suspect that if properly coached and motivated the last three could be effective. They have speed, smarts, though experience is short for Forsling and Gus too. Not saying they are a solution, just that they can be better than what we saw from them this past season. And this is what Bowman has in mind.....probably still does even if we get slaughtered next season.

If you believe what JJ says over at The Rink - that Bowman and Q are on a short leash - one year to turn direction of loosing way - then the person with the most power will use that if forced to. I mean, Bowman needs Q to be on the same page. If Bowman feels that Q isn't playing or using someone properly, he is going to demand Q oblige or it is curtains early for Joel. As it should be. The GM has to have the support from his coach. And between the GM and coach they have allowed much to go astray.
Whether you agree totally with everything Z3 says here, there is a calling out on Q for his outdated certain strategy and coaching. Equally responsible is Bowman for allowing the ridiculous looking pp and the silly drop pass exiting their zone. Another point among a few others i am disgruntled, is a recent post on this board comparing Q vs successful teams Re: the dump in. Or when the opportunity to dump puck in corners then race in and cycle puck vs just get a quick wrist shot on net. And players drive to net, not play catch on perimeter nearly always. |

I highly recommend watching the rest of this series, if possible. Without a doubt the fastest paced hockey I have watched in quite some time. Both teams are big, fast, physical, and skilled. Nashville severely outplayed Winnipeg in terms of SOG and zone time in Game 1 (like 50-18 SOG) and lost. In both games, Winnipeg does a great job of defending the slot, clearing rebounds/2nd chances, and eliminating the opposing forwards physically to make Hellebuck's job easier with mostly outside shots. How do they do that? With a massive defense core...Big Buff, Tyler Myers, Morrisey Trouba, and Chariot all play very physical. Jets have only 1 sub 6' skill defender in Toby Enstrom while the rest are all large men with an edge.
Schiefele-Wheeler-Connor and Johansen-Forsberg-Arvidssen are nearly unstoppable top lines for each team and a treat to watch them play. Awesome series, go Jets! - EnzoD
Tampa comes storming out of the gate, 10-0 sog advantage and try to shut down Boston top line. They are trying to match intensity and get back in the swing of play after the one week layoff prior to game one.
This series could become a real good one too. Will Stamkos and his 100 point buddy wake up? There is a lot of youth in both lineups. There is a lot of speed and grit, too
Earth to Stan, relaying that last sentence. |

The biggest mistake in Ron Francis' tenure in Carolina was the Scott Darling contract. Who could've seen that coming? Darling had a career .921 save % before signing the $4mil x 4 deal and then laid an egg this past year with his .888 save %. Ron Francis got his team's top scorer essentially for free (Tuevo Tervainen), and has assembled one of the best defense groups in the NHL. Adding Tavares, this #3 overall pick, and Scott Darling playing closer to his time in Chicago...Carolina is a contender. - EnzoD
He also traded for Kruger, didn't he?

Yea don't buy it, didn't buy it last year, if there is no improvement in the teams/ kids play then maybe but they'll get to the next cba to rebuild, I'm certain Bowman warned Rocky that signing Toews, Kane, Seabrook to these contracts would affect their ability to compete. Rocky said they've earned these contracts and when the time comes you guys buildme another champion ship team. |

Wow I'm shocked every series is 1-1, i didn't get to watch the whole Bolts/Bruins game hope there wasnt any disallowed goals for the Bruins, but did see the non slash call when Marchand had a breakaway😁 |

I wouldn't call a penalty on the Zam driver if he ran that wiener over. |

Overall a good job.He didn't give up much for Kruger....but someone correct me if I am wrong. Francis did acquire or develop from within players on the cheap to play good defense. I always liked Nordstrom it is just too bad he never provided more offense. He is a thin guy I think but withstands the rigorous NHL. |

Exactly, why should he draw a penalty? Looked like a hockey play to me (Isn't that the excuse he uses every time he lays a cheap shot?)

I think that if the hawks were playing the jets, in addition to grabbing two hawks by the visors like he did the other night against the Preds, he would had two more with their heads firmly locked under his armpits.

If Wahlstrom is on the board you take him because he is the best players JL listed.
I think the Hawks can and need to trade for and acquire a D man.
My Free agent target would be Calvin DeHaan.
I'd also try to package AA(plus his NMC) and maybe the Hawks late 1st rounder to upgrade a little at center(that wins faceoffs).

in the FWIW dept....i suspect the hawks will not draft a dman with the 8th pick...they don't have the time to develop another young dman...
they need a guy who can step in right away; therefore expect a trade or a UFA signing or both to fill damn position |
