So the hawks and rangers pick 8 and 9 two of the biggest revenue generating markets and not in the top 5 another screw up by bettman and the nhl. Buffalo carolina and Ottawa what a joke.
- Scott1977

Buffalo deserves Dahlin after losing out on McDavid, Matthews and Laine IMO. Good hockey fans and youth programs in upstate NY. Dahlin-Ristolainen would be a very talented and young top pair

[quote=jhawk59]Wiz is not thrilled with Dobson. Draft him high you will be disappointed you did not get this great talent. Wiz message is that the super talent quick small guys trump all the negative aspects attributed to their size. That is not his opinion as it is it a reflection just how teams are thinking and will draft with that mindset.
I have trouble believing; it just appears they cannot defend. Imagine Tzchuck and Hughes battling.

So a team cannot have five of six all smurfs no matter how gifted they are offensively. Right.....Z3 you are right. Some form great offensive but not totally sounds like the new way.. i see a problem with this is young dmen can be up as and down a lot with their performance. Or just never get it. Jake Gardiner was laughable in that series. Matthews unimpressive but overall comparing that team to the 2009 Hawks ridiculous. Morgan Reilly is a very good player and after him on D......

I think unless Wahlstrom falls to 8, Hawks need Top 4 defenseman. So, whoever of the Top D is left you take him. Determining which of those 4 will be the best in the NHL is essentially a highly educated guess. Only Dahlin has no flaws lol but I like the higher floor of adequate skating and PPG producing OHL Dmen with good size and D-instincts.

Right. Now next notice Bergevin could draft a dman to replace Sergashev whom he lost to Tampa. Or he could draft someone and hope he can get good line complimentary for Drouin. Finally trades Galyenchuk? Wait, is Pacioretty on block? Persistent rumor links Paciorety to Florida . For what. Take Huberdeau? Bergevin in the hot seat for too cold Montreal. What a headache.

I wouldn’t say he’s not thrilled, but sounds like he has some doubts:

“Plays both ends Has a good frame and will continue to grown into it and get bigger, and surely he will become less shy playing like he a larger guy already. Already better then most “Q” defenders at using his mobility, reach, stick, and to have his stick on the right side of the puck carrier. Deceptively fast and always willing to lug the biscuit up ice. Because he is bigger and his stride is so fluid, he catches you off guard with how fast he can accelerate and then surprises again when he executes at top speed. Jumps up from the blue line deep in to the attack zone and has the speed to get himself back up ice. Has a slapper he keeps low and a strong accurate wrist shot. You would like a bit more physicality and see him push attackers off the puck, he already does show he can separate them decently although they won’t be looking to see if he is coming next shift. Already has shown enough to be considered a top half of the first round candidate, but I have concerns he might not have the elite quickness and "head" speed to become a top NHL impact defenseman.”

I really hope they just draft best available, i understand we need defenseman but if you draft by position and the player never develops into a NHL player then you just hurt the growth of your team.

Don't try to fit a square peg into a round hole, be realistic there is no immediate fix, I've seen the Cubs do this and all it did was make the organization weaker every year. Have some patience people let them build it again.

I think the Sharks are beginning to realize LVGK aren't backing down and are constantly bringing it. Getting a little chippy now

New Carolina owner wants to make bold moves. The Jerry Jones of the NHL. Here is a launching pad for him. Bergevin needs to right the ship. Buffalo needs to and deserves a stud.

They run the lottery 3 times for 1,2,3 so every team 1-15 has a chance.

So much for all those clowns who said the Lottery was rigged and the Hawks would end up with #1.

It was clearly rigged (sorta) for Carolina!

Bogie, I wouldn't doubt the GM and friends have a deal or two ready depending on who takes who as the draft progersses. But I think you're right, won't be cheap.

If he's there he's the strong (6'1" 200+lbs at 18)scorer you love. But, I think it will go...

1)Dahlin
2)Svechnikov
3)Zadina
4)Tzchuck
5)Dobson
6) Bouchard
7)Wahlstrom
8) Hughes/Boquist

Hopefully in 5-7 GMs take one or both of Hughes/Boquist as getting one of the big bodied 200ft Dmen in Bouchard or Dobson is the perfect fit IMO. Getting Wahlstrom, Hughes or Boquist is my prediction.

If the Hawks get Boqvist they will be over the moon. I don't think he drops to 8th but if so, I will be a happy camper.

Button has described Boqvist as a Karlsson clone. I'll take that if even remotely true.

I could see Stan moving up to 6th or 7th. That wouldn’t be a big move but if there’s a guy Stan absolutely wants he has the resources to make a move.
