one thing you can count on with the nhl is brutal officiating...

several aggregious missed or wrong call tonight: everyone in the building sees it and knows it accept the 2 guys with red armbands...

- bogiedoc

Didn’t really change the outcome but the crosscheck/block by the leaf that sprung his teammate to get the open net goal jumps out at me. I just can see the nfl refs letting so much crap get into the game.

I’d like to see FO% for various game situations - especially PK / PP situations.

I’m guessing the Hawks % in their own zone (yes, having to put the stick down first) in PK situations is pretty bad.

- StLBravesFan

Here is the Hawks breakdown by zone

OZ - 48.7% - 19th in the NHL
NZ - 50.3% - 15th
DZ - 48.8% - 26th

Interesting to see that teams are winning more in the D-zone despite the rule.

For special teams...

PP FO% 54.7% good for 11th
EV FO% 49% - 21st in the league.
SH FO% 46.1% which was 18th

still say bobro and holtby the most over rated and over paid goalies in the league...

cbj had this series and couldn't finish in G3 and 4....

caps will be gone in R2

- bogiedoc

Bobro actually can be really good then just average other times. No he has not been a playoff savior. I gave him too much credit in an earlier post. That was based on his superlative stretches of great play within a season.

Where is the prophet Savoy now??

His nonsense about how much that was lost after Panarin was traded - and how stupid Bowman was for giving him away??

After two games, Panarin was the messiah for Columbus, but after four straight losses - and no points in the last three - and a -6 in those games, not a word to be heard.

And that other idiot Goalie-33 - who dubbed Panarin better than Kane after those two games - he really showed his ignorance for the ages.

To both clowns, all I can say is......

Lundquist has not been terrible; but not Katie bar the door either. Price is still looked to as #1 if there was all out for Olympics. But he would have to prove it in practices and games. You cannot rest on your laurels.

Quick has been really good and..um..not more than ok other times. I like Fleury now but he succumbed to playoff pressure a few years, and lost his job to the current incumbent. Crow has been very good but after his latest setback he has to prove he is that good again.

It is a challenge to always be good each time out for goaltenders. They are the last line of defense. Often Crow has had to regroup. Goaltenders probably should not play consecutive long stretches but split games once in a while to keep themselves fresh and back ups not too stale. Yet teams tend to play their 'tenders too much. It's difficult to not go with your best netminder but actually it will pay off in the long run to share the crease.

A really good goaltender also is the guy in Jersey.

And the Hawks would take him back in a minute, for the right price and contract.

Saying the trade was a loss for Chicago isn’t nonsense - I don’t believe it, but it’s a valid viewpoint - the problem is it’s just so incessant.

Let’s just hope our side of that deal comes back strong next next year.

I would to. When it's all said and done he's a top 6 forward with a really nice wrist shot and one timer. If he was with Kane he and Panarin wouldbe inthe top 10 if not top 5 scoring every year. But i understand the moves they made, we haveto many pretty pieces not enough gritty ones. You needa nice compliment of both in order to have success inthe playoffs. And wheni say gritty i mean top 6 gritty not 3rd or 4th line grinders

Anybody notice that Panarin has been in the league for three years, has played in three Stanley Cup series, and his team has won none of them?

Let's not forget that the Caps realized all they had to do was paste someone to Panarins side and he becomes neutralized (worthless). Trots deserves the credit here.

You people are crazy ... Panarin

is worthless
good riddance

That kid played his heart on in that series. That team just wasn't good enough and the Russian sieve in net just couldn't make the key saves when needed. Panarin was a factor even in the games he didn't score.

I am FAR from Savoy here and generally don't even like Russian players, but that kid gave it his all. It just didn't work out. Calling him worthless or saying good riddance? Pitiful.

I get it, this is nothing but deflection away from the crap team Bowman has built. Haaaha...Panarin sucks, we don't need him anyway. Multi million dollar players at the bottom of the score sheet is where IT IS AT.

Wiz had more correct first round each year.
- jhawk59

Very hard to believe as McKenzie has a very high percentage each year. I trust McKenzie as I know he gets whatever access and information he needs. There is a reason he is seen as the Insiders’ Insider. Doesn’t mean Wiz can’t do a great job too. It’s OK to read both you know - I do.

I heard there is hope, but I am not fully in the loop. Bill is a class guy and a pleasure to talk hockey with.
