Simmonds is a top 6 LW who I'd want Bowman to kick the tires on this summer and see if a trade is to be had (and assuming he has a clean bill of health next year).

Apparently, there is talk that Babcock misused him at the end of the season and in the tournament.

Another team I'd look at is NYI and maybe Brock Nelson. He is RFA this offseason and maybe Stan could convince them to part with him for a reasonable price.

Mathews is not being traded. Players and coaches have unhappiness all the time, each season each team..They work through or around them. No one is happy all the time. What the Leafs will try to do.is to acquire either an established dman or a prospect like when Tampa plucked Montreal Canadiens' Sergashev. Toronto will try to push Bozek and or JVR possibly Kampenen. The slightly possible trade would be Kadri but almost 100% sure not Marner or Nylander.

I heard it on Sirius XM hockey channel this morning - Stellek, I think, interviewing a Toronto broadcaster, I think.

Jist seemed to be that he didn’t use Mathews enough, and didn’t keep his line with Marner together to let them work things out.

On one of the afternoon shows (I spend too much time in my car) there was similar talk - adding that Mathews will be looking for a $10MM deal this summer.

BTW Wolves will be a tougher challenge now that they regrouped and will adjust to Rockford's game plan. Check the score periodically on AHL site while sucking up the Bears draft tonight.

So much bs about what Babcock could or could not have done differently. Get past it. Babcock had several very skilled forwards who played well, had points and he isn't going to overely upon Mathews. In fact since Mathews often drew their top players, Babcock probably liked other matchups more. Top players have egos. Top coaches run things how they feel and if even a top player is upset, he will just have to get over it. Gain some perspective and maturity, Mr Mathews. And he will.

I was thinking about the Icehogs game vs the Wolves and I'd expect Rockford will need to dig deep to finish them off (if they do). Would love to see the young guys in Rockford show up strong and end the series.

Would expect Wolves win one or two games minimum. Still believe Rockford can win this series. But Wolves could come back too. Colliton coaching will have an effect on the outcome of the series.
