do you know who scored? Any progress reports on fortin and knott?
- Scott1977

Pelletier, Johnson (PP), DiDomenico (PP), Highmore (PP) and Bouma with the EN goal

Fortin didnt play, neither did Knott. For those wondering, Hayden played, showed 2 shots, not much else to report.

- Scott1977[/quote,

star of game, some stat's but not TOI. Scoring goals: Highmore, Pelletier, Bouma, Di Domenico, L Johnson. Stars of game: Delia #1, #2 DiDomenico, #3 Clendenning

theAHL.com two similar sites has box scores

Hayden played, had 2 soc.

I hesitate to call them a strong defensive team, but on paper the blueline crew looks balanced, experienced. There is defensive working forwards
with L Johnson, Kero, Kampf, Bouma and hard driving Sikula and Highmore. Pelletier is a frail point producing collegiate f/a in season #2 who produces some offense here and there, Louis is a skill guy who is progressing/led team in points and i say could be a nice third line option but he is short short short. DiDomenico is an AHL lifer type. Dk how much Edgsell plays but he is on pp with Luis for sure. The Chicago reinforcements sent Knott to the sidelines unfortunately.

Fortin has described how much he has learned/improved away from the offensive side. He never got untracked, offensively after off season surgery but figures to be someone who will produce more as he was playing protypical power forward game in a body not made for that in junior. Iocopella spent time ECHL and his career is questionable if he doesn't score more and use his large frame more. But he looked faster this season. You know about the others.

That was one of the most obvious and flagrant trips you will ever see the ref decided instead of calling it, he could bear putting letang back in the box after phylly had a 5-3...

no goal 5-4 and phylly on the pp...you don't think that brutal non call impacted the game...all i can continue to say is the nhl refs are the worst in professional sports...

It was absolutely awful. It seemed the Pitt players knew it too as the celebration seemed off. The rule in a game like that or in OT is you have to call the penalty that allows the other team an unfair opportunity. It was a freakin’ disgrace.

Philly couldn't hold that 2 goal lead, especially after coming back from 2 goals down. They played like they were beat up AND out of gas. I was actually more impressed with them that Pitt. Pitt's just too damn deep.
- 35Tony0

Pitt is not deep especially on D. The problem is it is ridiculous how opposing teams self-destruct against Pitt. Today, with their season on the line, if Pitt had stated in their locker room Philly would’ve found a way to score more into its own net.

To accept anything you say is irresponsible because you do not look at both sides of an issue. Why is Ulf's system used widespread - maybe with some modifications - throughout various levels of hockey including NHL. Going by what you say, there must be a lot of dumb people.

I will agree though to the extent that if you do not have the correct personnel, then do not use this system. And Q needs to go

- jhawk59

Teams do NOT use Ulf’s system around the NHL. I don’t know where you got this from but just stop saying it. All successful teams use a D-First Defensive System pinching or joining the rush ONLY when it is safe to do so. It is what the Hawks used to do. That is opposite to what Ulf does.

I probably need to get clarification on this, from the entire topic which is the growing sentiment to have a couple or more dmen who like to and are good at advancing the puck. Pushing the play is desirable. This is in juniors and throughout lower rungs of youth hockey. I noticed this desire to push play when i did a some minorish coverage when in school and on and off for a while as far back as the '90's.....so the idea is not unheard.Teams around the league like to activate dmen and push play up ice, but Ulf's system you say is pushing the envelope. Maybe u am overstating it. I will get back to you on it.

Btw College of Du Plage won a couple of juniir college ice hockey championships back in the late '80s. But there were only about 25 JC with hockey back then. So they often faced the jv squad of a larger school and even a couple games against the Chicago Young Americans or whatever the name of the prestegoius juniour hockey inChicagoland.

Yep 25 games with NASH 7 points & -5

I'm sure they are thrilled with the dumb penalties as well

One of Bowmans only good moves

Now draft Quinn Hughes
Sick skills & great skater who can carry the puck

Really? Another midget? If that's the best left sure. But they need a guy who can and will clear a crease and make a first pass first imo.

He would definitely be a good pick, however, I don’t see the Wings passing on him. (MAYBE if Boqvist is still there.) I want Wahlstrom for the Hawks. I’ve been watching him play for USA at the Worlds U18 tourney, and he has looked really good.

If he can skate well, and Hughes is EXCEPTIONAL, I’ll take a midget like him any day of the week. Size doesn’t matter much in today’s NHL.

You still need some size on your D to establish goal area position on the PK.

On another note, it is interesting to read about the needs of non-playoff and first round exit teams. Center depth, better defence, and goaltending/ goaltending health all of which sounds too familiar. Bowman may not be able to do much this summer (without a heavy cost) because a lot of teams are looking for the same things he is. The silver lining in this is that there may be a market for Anisimov if Bowman chooses to go that way.

Bouchard > Hughes. Bigger/Grittier/Captain/Leading Scorer among all draft eligible prospects and only 1 spot higher in the draft than Hughes.

How do you know his skating is exceptional?
It's only youtube, but it's all I had. And it was limited. But what I saw was a guy who drags his leg a bit when he turns. I saw a couple of clips where he stopped skating while he was looking around. I never saw him wheel with crossovers around the opposition. He did display vision and set up prowess. But I don't see him being as shifty in the show as he is in juniors. From what I can tell NHL defenders will get a piece of this guy when he carries the puck, just can't afford to stop to look around. I hope I'm wrong and this kid is a thrill to watch for years to come. Just one knuckleheads opinion.

Does it really matter? The Hawks are drafting first overall anyway.

Ha Darth, you're unwaivering commitment to the Hawks drafting 1st (assuming you'd want Dahlin) is enviable! I hope you're right

The draft lottery is 5 days away, on the 28th.

Here's a recap of the best prospects and what they compare to: http://www.hockeybuzz.com...post_id=18641257#18641257

Seeing some Hughes talk on here, I think he's the 4th or 5th best dman available after Dahlin, Boqvist, Bouchard, and Dobson. Great skating and puck handling, but his smaller size creates more question marks about D abilities.
