Found it: Panarin also was an undrafted Free Agent for a reason. He is a offense-first, undersized perimeter player with insane offensive skills. Saad is a big body, fast skating 200 ft power forward that plays PK. Hawks also get an elite Goalie prospect, which they need. Love the trade

Much consternation about the trade on this board. I can look at the facts and give a fair assessment. Not a biased review.

The trade should in theory and i would bet will work out well for both teams. In order for that to happen, there needs to be the right coaching and linemates. The situation was more ideal for Panarin than Saad this past season. Your description of the players is totally accurate. Some fan boys get excited when their guy has some big moments but they refuse to put everthing in perspective. For whatever reason they respond as such, it is immaterial. Knowledgeable fans who read this know thr score. And i hope Forsberg does come through. He remains a top prospect who needed to learn from his lack of total.preparedness. i see the emotion when he didn't repulse a late season shoot out.....and i just hope that his drive and passion will help propel him to the next level of success.

One more thing - I saw that our "child-like friend" VopatsRash is back. I just went on the Predator's site and he didn't even make a comment on his home team's blog regarding last night's pre-game/post-game. What give with this guy? I am assuming it's a guy due VopatsRash's extreme immaturity.

Carry on........sorry about my tangents......Go Ice Hogs!!!!

Your findings are correct but shouldn’t be surprising. It is now 30 hours after their most recent blog posted on game day. They gave a playoff series going on and after 30 hours there are on 9 posts on the blog. No one posts there!

Do you understand how wrong your statement is??

Gustafsson did not have the choice of returning to Rockford. He has played enough NHL games that he would have to pass through waivers first to do so - and the Hawks were not going to risk losing him through waivers.

Know what you are talking about before posting here. You b1tching and moaning about players you don't like is old!!!!!

I just briefly skimmed over some of the comments I believe in a prior blog about who can play at Rockford and who can’t, so I was onaware of who had to clear waivers and who did not.
Oesterle,Hinostroza,Gustafsson , and a few others would not even make the playoffs rosters on most of these playoff teams. And yet they are being counted and prominent roles For next year. I can’t believe the money that Stan Bowman threw at Jan Rutta and Brent Gustafsson When that money could’ve been better served to sign legit NHL defenseman

Anyone notice that since games have gotten bigger in the series Super Panarin has sorta disappeared. Caps win next game and all of Panarin’s points in games 1 and 2 will be irrelevant. I was freakin’ ecstatic with the Saad for Panarin trade and still am!

The total money spent on Rutta and Gus was ridiculous. What was equally ridiculous was that somehow Rutta was viewed as deserving a ton more money than Gus - based on what?

Read The Rink story for deeper understanding. You might still feel the pain, but you can understand the plus and minus associated with each defenseman. Of course there is going to be a big problem if the same crew opens next season. I agree too with the thoughts on Forsling. He needs to better understand how to get the job done at the NHL level. He's young. He needs to develop. He should not get lost in the shuffle and eventually be part of a trade. Obvious talent you cannot let Q mismanage or Bowman decide to move him.

Coach Q has issues. He screws up players he could use because Q is too stubborn in his coaching and implementing things. Thanks for the Cups, even though you won despite your blunderous ways. Good riddance the sooner the better, Joel.

And Bowman better add some push back or he can go too. Between GM and coach your PP is a joke around.the league for years. What's the problem there anyway..Partially on the players. But that is only part of the problem, the scheming and how they operate the PP

Didn't catch the OT, but noticed a couple times during the game, the Caps have taken a page out of the Preds playbook from last year, and have at least 2, sometimes 3 players swarm to Panarin as soon as he steps over the blueline with the puck.

As long as Saad reverts to Saad next season and gets back to doing Saad things, I still like the trade too.

A couple people have said it but if the above happens it's a trade that works for both teams.

Pretty sure Panarin is also playing through a leg injury. He never looked like he went full speed yesterday.

Edit: quoted wrong previous comment. Sorry!

Let’s not write him off after two mediocre games - as bad as putting him in the HOF after the first three good ones.

Let it all play out.

Can’t be ecstatic (freakin’ or otherwise) until Saad makes me so by returning to his norm next season.

They were signed to see which develops and fits in the Hawks long term plans, or trade bait for next year, imho this is a 2 to 3 year process

I don't want Panarin to fail, it's just watching him here for 2years in the playoffs against heavy teams he fades away in a series, to his credit he's been playing inside the dots more in this series but for example in ot he had at least 6inches of inside post to win the game for the BJs and he shoots it right into the defenseman, anyone remember the wide open net against the Blues he completely missed in the playoffs? Sure some might say I'm nitpicking but I've seen enough of those type of misses to say I'm okay with the trade.

I can live with the Gus contract but The Rutta one baffles me especially when he was awarded that contract during a stretch when he was either not playing or playing poorly. GM's need to learn to walk away when agent demands become unrealistic. Bowman is not the only one guilty of this putting their teams in cap trouble.

Natalie Wood was a gorgeous all time natural beauty unlike today's artificial wannabes. And she was not losing much of it as she was aging.

Since she died at only 43, she didn’t have time to age much....

I'd imagine he'll be in the mix next season. Barring a trade or free agent signing the backup role appears to be wide open.

It's interesting that Berube asked for his season to end and didn't want to go to Rockford. I wonder if his time with the Hawks is done.

True...but nowadays people (men and women) are getting "work" done on themselves a lot earlier than 43.
