Boucher's system in unsustainable. Simple as that.

He has a short self-life. Boucher is exactly as Torts was before he redefined himself in Columbus.

You can't expect a team to play 82 games like it's the playoffs and be successful every season. It worked last year, for many different reasons, not the least of which was that they weren't in the playoffs the previous year. The players were fresh and ready to buy in. This season they were still hurting from last year, and weren't prepared to play games in October like it's May all over again.

If you look at the league as a whole, the majority of the teams who make the playoffs on a yearly basis play a more offensive style. LA was the exception, but it caught up with them last year, and Sutter was fired for it.

Karlsson aged more in one year, last year, than he had in the three years previous, combined. You can't expect your MVP to be leading the league in blocked shots. It's just ridiculous.

Now should Boucher be fired? It depends. Can he redefine himself like Torts did? If we had an unlimited budget and a decent track record of hiring coaches, it would be a no-brainer. Fire him immediately. But we don't and I feel like if they do get rid of him, they are just going to bring in another guy with zero experience on the cheap.

No more coaching changes.

If another coach is fired or changed then the GM and Owner need to formally apologize and hire the right people. Melynk goes to Barbados and Dorion goes back to scouting

Enough of blaming players and coaches.

When Bobby Ryan is making 7.5 & over 9m Canadian there is a big problem

Good summary.

I don't think there is a perfect (or best answer). Time becomes a huge factor in evaluating options. Sens will get a top 5 pick this year. If they were to win the lottery and also trade Karlsson for top prospects they would also accelerate the pathway towards a comprehensive rebuild.

It also depends on who else is available. Vigneault? Probably not. The Rangers didn't think he was the right fit for their rebuild/re-tool. Trotz when the Caps get eliminated again? Cunneyworth, ex-sens captain, but failed with the Habs? Ruff?

Boucher is not the biggest problem Ottawa has - their owner is. Getting the right owner means everything. Tampa would still suck if Vinik had not bought the team and made Yzerman his first hire.

Great assessment Jared, I agree with most of it.

Much like in Tampa, he should probably be given the start of the 2018-2019 season, 10-20 games, until pulling him. And if Stone or EK65 have serious objections that muddies their signings, it becomes a no-brainer.

I could care less how many coaches they've gone through. If the one they currently have isn't getting results and has a worrisome track history, he needs to go.

I only wanted to post that the title was funny. Made me laugh. Good on you. Garth should take notes on how to do this and make it amusing. Cheers

I went to enough and watched the rest this season to know that the system failed this year without Boro in the line up for most of it. It's funny what he adds to the team - but he follows instructions.

Im on the fire him side, simply because the power play has been brutal. Long before he got here, but, he was supposed to be able to fix it. I too was annoyed by the constant line juggling.

Enough.
Find Luke Richardson, pay him what he wants. He made our D better.

I'm on the fire him side of things, But I do think he would make it work if he fixes his system to make it offensive. Our team is built that way.

Our #1D is the most offensive D in the league, Chabot is looking that way as well, our top six Hoffman, Ryan, Dzingle, Duchene etc. All extremely Offensive minded players. The only one who really is more defensive minded is Stone and even he brings good offensive numbers.

There is no point in building a young fast team for Defense.

Yet, but look what young and fast is doing for the Leafs. Absolutely nothing (and yes I'm enjoying every minute).

The Leafs have a better team then they are showing right now. Plus Boston is very strong.

For me it's Nash, SJ and Vegas. All those three are terrifying. I think Philly could go far if they can beat the Pens. Same with Washington

Hard to be a Sens fan will all the distractions: the owner, Karlsson saga etc...

Here are hard fixes to KEEP the SENS in Ottawa
- Find a way to keep Melnyk happy...no idea how but hey...gotta tame the dragon
- Karlsson wants to stay, sign him to competitive, Front loaded, bonus laden 5 year contract
- Sign Mark Stone to a competitive, Front loaded, bonus laden 5 year contract.
- Get aggressive in signing a STUD D-Man for second pairing
- Get a STUD Goaltender - Jonathan Quick?
- Get rid of passengers (package them for a bag of pucks, D-MAN, or Goalie)
- Give young guns a chance
- Give Guy 20 games to shape-up or let him go...
- Trade RFA's for picks or package them to get a D-man/Goalie (Nick Paul, Patrick Sieloff, Chris Driedger...)
-Sign Wideman, Ceci
- Go after Free agents such as: van Riemsdyk, Strome, Jenner, Spooner, Miller, Duclair, Karlsson (William), Nash (Riley), Nylander...

I know im dreaming...please keep the comments positive...on don't comment at all.
