I had them on the 4th line
If they get hurt or suck, there’s others we can bring up

They can’t be worse than Larsson, Josefson, Criscuolo, Griffith, Nolan, etc etc

- jdfitz77

Careful, you're listing a group of guys who beat them out this year.

I'll give you one challenging problem to work on. If you don't want RoR to take every defensive face off next year, you need a 3rd or 4th line that you trust defensively. You also need to kill penalties. That's the problem with these kid heavy lineups. For all the hate Larsson and Josefson get, they did some of the dirty work.

Don't agree on any of those. #32 overall has good value.
- Lunaion

Were talking nhl draft picks not NFL right?
Second round pick for McCabe? I'd be pissed if jbotts traded McCabe or e rod for a 2nd rounder.

Especially mccabe.

I think it was “speed” there,
but point taken

We do have A LOT of speed coming
And a decent amount of skill being added as well

Chara is the only one who’s relied on heavily that can’t skate.

There core and best players can

- sbroads24

But the moral of the story is that they have players who aren't exactly fast. ROR is going to be our defensive centre on the third line if he is not moved. Sabres need some lottery luck for once. If you add Svechnikov or Zadina you have have more speed in the top 6 or "core".

Takes a decent amount of skill to settle the puck and keep it onside the way marner did.

Pass was good too. We have some awful passers on the team

They didn’t “beat them out” though
Botts specifically said he wanted to keep youth in Rochester & build a winner down there
Let’s just say they at least have the potential to be better
Will they be?
Tbd

I agree with the rest though
Was just trying to illustrate that without any big moves, this team could look quite different... in a good way

Holes would still need to be filled
Moves would still need to be made
Maybe Asplund or Malone could be that decent defensive Center?

Yeah, true
Their speed created that 2 on 1 though
I didn’t mean that skill wasn’t involved at all on the play

And don’t u think some of these kids coming up have some skill?

Not that they’re a total fix,
but i certainly think they’ll help

It would be interesting to say the least. Maybe Bouchard, Boqvist or Hughes sneaks in at the 3 spot and Z falls to us at 4. I’m assuming we would be choosing one of those three D-men or Whalstrom, TK in that order.

If JB dealt the #32 pick for someone like McCabe, I'd be upset.

If JB traded McCabe for the #33 pick, I'd be fine with it.

My point there wasn't really to argue who belongs on the bottom of the list, but to show that we aren't working with many high value pieces to trade anymore.

If we win the lotto,
Potential defense for the future:

Dahlin-Ristolainen
Guhle-Borgen
McCabe-Nelson

I’m pretty good with that
Obviously leaves work to be done up front though

I mean, I like Guhle but that’s no where near a playoff 2nd pair as of today.

We have no clue if Borgen even makes the NHL

I'd like to win the lottery as much as anyone, but don't you think you may be projecting it a bit too often?

U saw me say “for the future” right?
Not saying that’s for next year

“No clue” for Borgen seems pretty harsh
He projects as a defensive 2nd pair guy

I realize he must continue to develop,
but he’s been pretty damn good the last 2 seasons

We have the best odds to get him

I’ll project us at #1 until the lotto
If we pick elsewhere,
then I’ll start inserting others based on where we pick

Just makes sense to me to go about it that way (for now)

Also... trying to be optimistic

And i did say,
“IF we win the lotto...”

That's an interesting angle. If bots traded McCabe for a 32 or better, I would not be happy. I feel he has greater value. Same with e rod.

I'd be ok with the 33rd for Larson or girgs

I know you believe Bailey and Baptiste were destined for Rochester. You'll never convince me that they weren't given every opportunity to make the team, and that Griffith didn't outplay them significantly and steal a spot.

I think part of signing guys like Griffith. Cristo and even porter, are they are promised a certain chance and pay check in the nhl. Makes guys like that sign in Rochester over other ahl teams. If think botts really wanted to groom baps and bailey

Even Guhle was kept down in favor of Tennyson
The only way u can explain that is that Botts’ plan was to send the kids to Rochester for another year

U really think all the fringe AHL-NHL guys we had in the lineup were there to help the Sabres win?
They were placeholders while the kids developed some more
