Caps were up 3-1, if they don't get Holtby in there to start the 3rd they are clueless. I wish we played the Caps man, we definitely could have beaten them
- FreshFlyer

I agree the Flyers could have given the Caps a run for their money, maybe even steal the series against them.

However, I love that the kids are playing the 2 time Stanley Cup champs. They are finding out, quickly, what it takes to win in the second season.

I wanted the Caps. Columbus and NJ were smart to want to avoid the pens. of course NJ didn't end up with the caps either

Yup, I think so too. Minor adjustment which could have a positive impact. Simmonds isn't very noticeable right now, but part of that is certainly his line. Seems like he had decent chemistry with Weal when they played together. Anyway, I definitely make a tweak or two to get Simmonds going if I'm Hak.

Right now the best chance of getting some production out of Simmonds is on the PP. However Patrick has made some plays on the top unit obviously.

If the Flyers trade Morin they will regret it. Players with that kind of size don't come around often and I think he could be an absolute beast for us in the playoffs. They gotta give him a chance to show what he can do before they even think of trading him.
- FreshFlyer

Agree completely. I don't think the Flyers would even consider it unless they were blown away with an offer.

okay. i wont believe you. i also provided some names of what many consider some of the best power forwards who declined in their 30s. some of the burden of proof also falls on you

There is no burden. I have not at any point denied or refuted that power forwards and other type of players can and have declined into their 30's. If you follow my statements I have posted multiple times that there is risk to re-signing a player like Simmonds to a long term deal because of that age factor.

Nonsense. I have not asked a single poster to provide any proof of players declining into their 30's. I haven't done so because I already know it happens.

You and I have had a number of interactions just on this thread. If you'd like I'd be happy to show you where I did provide proof and facts to counter your comments. I know you and others don't like it when I effectively refute your statements so then you resort to this nonsense.

Honestly recently only 1 guy comes to mind who has played well into his 30's.Eric Stall had a great yr as a power forward

I personally would not move Morin. I wanted him on the team out of camp
- nastyflyergirl

I also want no part in trading Morin, just wanted thoughts/possibilities. But with how many years we have put into his development and all, id be very upset if he was traded. We need his size and grit, badly.

100% agree. I honestly thought he was a lock to start the year with us this season. Who knows what could have been if he had a healthy season.

You said the Eagles were dead after Wentz went down too.

Foles came in late in the season and playoffs for Wentz. How did he and the team do? I forgot.

Don't even believe it would be a discussion. Morin has had a rough year, but he's still an NHL dman who will really balance the back end very soon.

Bill Guerin...stayed good until he was 39. Even the Flyers gave him a tryout after a 20 season.

Mike Knuble's last productive season was 2010-11 with the caps. He was about 37 at the time.

Keith Tkachuk was basically good his entire career. He was done at 38.

Gary Roberts stayed decent until age 36.

Brenden Shanahan was good his entire career. Done at 39.

Shane Doan...age 39.

It's not impossible.

Power forward wise but yes, I think you could still be a servable player late in your 30's.
