Guys, it’s only a 2-1 series

Maybe they thought it was only a best of 3.

The season is not over yet. There will be plenty of time to discuss the future and any suggestions for moves the Flyers should make. It's interesting though, it seemed as though most we're on board with the draft and develop strategy and how the Flyers needed to change their approach from the past. Now it seems as though many want to reverse course now and go back to trying to buy a team through free agency again. patience is still needed. I know it's frustrating but this of season is not the time to go after big ticket free agents.

Who cares. Just because it took him until the age of 23 to craft his skill to the NHL level doesn't make him a bust.

If you rewind the clock and listen to the Flyers when they drafted Morin they clearly stated it would be a long road for him to get to the NHL.

- ggunky

I understand that. I think most people would have expected he would have played more than 2 NHL games at this point.

In all my years of being a Flyers fan, I've seen three GM's manage this team. Bob Clarke who signed and/or traded for every star he could get. Paul Holmgren, who in my mind loved to trade for stars and pay them whatever they want but as far as I'm concerned, the youth movement began with him. Now we have Hextall. He has a certain vision. He wants us to be patient. He wants to draft.

My favorite of the three was by far and large Paul Holmgren. I don't agree with the insane money he would throw at players but he understood the value of youth. He emptied the cupboards, and restocked them again. I like Paul Holmgren for the Richards and Carter deals. Holmgren drafted well but he also kept us competitive with youth. There are still ways to pick pocket another team of a young talented player like Joffrey Lupul or Scottie Upshall without drafting everyone.

Holmgren was put under a mandate by the owner Ed Snider to immediately fix the goaltending issue. They traded Bobrovsky and signed Bryzgalov.

No, Bob backed up Bryz. We traded Bob for Mason. Mason and Bryz split time.

Not attacking you.

“Simmer was one of the guys that we lost (Sunday) because of some of the specialty teams,” Hakstol said, explaining the ice time. “All of a sudden his impact on the game becomes minimal. For us, he’s a key guy. We gotta find the right avenue for him to impact this series. That’s something that as a coach I’ve got to do a better job of.”

I agree Hak

Absolutely 100% correct and I'm in full agreement with that outlook. However, what I can't accept in this series, is one, absolutely no push back in the first game after getting down. They simply weren't competitive in the game overall. That's unacceptable. In today's game, the Flyers were easily the better team early, had a breakdown and gave up a goal and then got stupid and careless! It wasn't the young players. It was the veterans and the star players. Unacceptable. Losing to a better team involves no shame if you play hard and play the right way. They haven't done that consistently in the last 6 years.

I assume he'd play the wing. I'm not sure Frost projects to be a center in the NHL anyway. Might end up being like a TK where he played center in junior but is a winger in the NHL.

He's 100% a center in the NHL.

It was a generalization of the situation to keep it short, not a frame by frame account time stamped.
