To me the biggest glaring offense is Manning actually still in the lineup pretending to be an NHL defenseman. He does not pass the eye test.

No, we all need to give Hak undying support for sticking with his lineup.

No need to change anything, just keep to the status quo for Game 4.

You'd rather waste a good goalie's entire career?
- YuenglingJagr

If either way the team isn't winning the Cup, I'd rather have one great goalie than a parade of lesser goalies for the simple reason that having a great goalie is never the reason you don't win it all.

I hate them more than the next guy, but Lundqvist is not the reason the Rangers haven't won the Cup with him on the team.

I don’t see the point in trading him this summer. He is likely to rebound and even on an expiring contract...would have more value during next year providing he rebounds. Let the young players push him down the lineup first. I don’t want to hand it to them
- Just5

If he doesn't rebound tho you aren't getting squat for him him. You have to consider that part of it too.

He has insisted that he isn't hurt so I have to consider that worst case scenario as an option as well, as much as I'd rather not have to.

Yup.

His popcorn must be even worse. That's the only sense I can make out of it.

I think the latter was the only scenario that actually guaranteed the team isn't winning the cup.

Can someone explain AMac's play while Brassard scored?

Plus at the draft more teams will be involved.

I just am not sure he will be the 30 goal guy if he isn't getting 1st PP time which I don't see moving forward. And what he does at 5 on 5 is not enough for me to want to keep him long term.

How bout the Pens second goal, Read without a stick, and MacDonald flat on his back flopping around like a fish. They got thoroughly embarrassed on every level yesterday.

- PLindbergh31

Dude really? an unfortunate broken stick resulting in a 5 on 3 against the #1 PP team. JFC some of the stuff you whine about

I just don't consider having a great player at any position a waste if the Cup isn't won.

I find it amusing that you selected your username in honor of one of the most cheerful and upbeat, glass-half-full people in team history. So I've taken the liberty to suggest a more appropriate player to honor -- quite possibly the gloomiest personality in modern team history.

I think most of us knew drawing the Pens was bad. But I'm sorry no I didn't expect Washington to totally fall into the situation they are in. If you told me they were shooting 90% I'd say they'd have won at least one of the games. Holtby was a mess down the stretch and now Grubauer is having issues.
- dragonoffrost

Maybe I am crazy and not realistic but there just isn't much about the Caps that worry me anymore outside of OV and even him.

for some reason (probably because i'm obsessed with pedigree and nostalgia) i keep envisioning packaging Simmonds + for the Montreal's pick and get Tkachuk. i'm not committed enough to really figure out what it would take on their end (1 of our firsts? more?)

in my fantasy world, his transition is seamless in camp and he immediately replaces Lindlbom in your top 6 for entry money, giving you a couple more bucks for that LEGIT 3rd line center.

i'm only fantasizing about next year b/c i'm sad they played crappy on Sunday

It's not whining. I was howling when MacDonald was doing snow angels. MacD needed a life alert. He's fallen and he can't get up!

Best PP team in the sport, against one of the worst PK teams. Yet it's a revolving door to the box with lazy, undisciplined penalties. One after another. How is this acceptable?

Re: Flyers playoff opponents

They would be playing the exact same way against any other team. And the way they are playing they wouldn't be beating the Capitals, the Lightning, or the Bruins.

I seriously doubt any other team made final game lineup decisions based on anything other than keeping their players healthy and ready for the playoffs. I do not believe that a team would "throw" a game to get a particular match-up.

Lament this series all you want, but rest assured the issues we see are with the Flyers, not their opponent.

who is saying its acceptable. #1 on my list was stay out of the damn box. Just saying complaining about AMAC (or laughing) on that play is ridiculous. Broken stick put him and the other 3 in a bad situation.

Are you seriously telling me that Giroux and Voracek are playing better than you expected?
- MJL

They are playing as a expected them to play in playoff hockey... they are the targets of extreme playoff checking. They arent given any space. When that happens its up to the linemates to get open and make things happen.

Wont get squat for a perennial 20 goal scorer? I know he's playing bad lately but dang, give him some credit.

He's been taken away from his bread and butter and is being started in the d zone 60% of the series. He's never been a defensive cornerstone of this team. It's a combo of bad play by Simmonds and bad utilization by Hak. Raffl has been worse IMO.

It was more like bad break dancing...

I'm not pinning the whole play on him but damn was that some ugly defense.

This loss is a team loss and as much as Elliott played the blame game he also has a load to bear in it.

Have to think there might be a change for game 4. I was definitely insert Hagg. While not flashy I think he can be a solid positional defensman while also bringing that physicality.

I would also think of getting Weal in to try and spark some offense on the bottom 6.

I really think these would be the ideal lines:

Giroux - Couturier - Konecny
Lindblom - Patrick - Voracek
Weal - Filppula - Simmonds
Raffl - Lehtara - Laughton

Provorov - Gostisbehere
McDonald - Hagg
Sanheim - Gudas

Hypothetical question. What do you think McPhee would have wanted to keep Vegas from taking Bellemare?

I wonder about that too. It pains me to say it, but I think that may be what's occurring with the top line. In the end, they're human and only have so much energy to expend. G and Coots play a lot of minutes and difficult ones at that. The 10 game losing streak and the subpar run in late February/early March dug them a hole that required a lot to get out of.
- aantny88

Crosby, Malkin and company have played something like 44 more games the last two years than the Flyers have. They don't seem out of gas. I can't buy that excuse.

I take it you are hoping for a low penalty game... sitting Read who has been decent on the PK since his recall.

I'm sure Chris Pronger or Timonen never made a mistake
