The only thing worse than trading a good goalie away is keeping him and wasting his entire career

To begin with I’m not trolling but if you think I am so be it. It has to suck to lose a game when your team clearly outplayed the pens and then see that Columbus down 3-1 comes back to win a game in ot after bobrosky faces 58 shots it’s been the flyers problem for a long time but I really hope for your guys sanity that carter hart is for real!
- Bobd62

You are not the only one. But as I said, I don't think Elliot is the only issue. There are two defensemen who are #7's, and the forwards didn't finish.

But Hart, Frost and Radcliffe, that is going to be fun....

I know that there are many out there trying to put this on Elliot.

- wbon22

Oh, it was a total team (non) effort. But the first and fourth goals were atrocious and saves he has to make, regardless of the play in front of him.

Who are the goalies next year? Don't say some sort of Elliott/Neuvirth, Lyon combination. Can't sell that to anyone.

Malkin and Kessel had 9 offensive zone starts and 0 in the d zone.

That was your fun fact for the day. Carry on.

Of the two scenarios you present, I'd rather have the latter for the simple reason that having a great goalie is never the reason you don't win it all.

I also believe somethings wrong with Simmonds just doesn’t look right if he’s hurt he should say something and sit. Either way his trade value is dropping FAST this is probably his last contract no matter who he plays for can’t see the flyers paying him what he wants for past performance and can’t see anyway anybody would give you anything close to a top six forward in a trade.

Yup, Coots especially has just played ridiculous minutes for a forward, especially when you factor in the time he spends on the PK. As much as finding a #1 goalie, I think finding a strong 3C that can kill penalties is just as important for this team to take the next step towards contention.

This is why i actually wanted the Flyers to get Brassard. He would have helped this year and also could have been that guy next year. Kind of like how the Flyers got Filppula. Next year he is on a 1 year deal and allows you to be a playoff team.

That's why I kind of mention a guy like Spezza for next year. i know everyone wants youth but i also don't think it would hurt to have a proven vet like Spezza playing a 3rd line center role.

How bout the Pens second goal, Read without a stick, and MacDonald flat on his back flopping around like a fish. They got thoroughly embarrassed on every level yesterday.

I find it amusing that you selected your username in honor of one of the most cheerful and upbeat, glass-half-full people in team history. So I've taken the liberty to suggest a more appropriate player to honor -- quite possibly the gloomiest personality in modern team history.

This season I'd say he could get us a 1st and a prospect.

After this series I don't think we're going to get offered that.

- hereticpride

I agree. And really, we should have traded Giroux in 2012, back before his game fell off a cliff that he never recovered from.

Another Flyer we held onto for too long.

If Martin Hanzal could get a 1st and a 2nd as a 2-month rental, I believe Simmonds could get something better.

CBJ paying the price for sitting all their players in the regular season finale and drawing Washington!

Caps in 6!

Whewwwww!!!!!

- PLindbergh31

that is exactly why I wanted the Capitals and why Columbus wanted to avoid the Penguins.

Maybe a better pick but like I said nobody’s giving up a top six forward for past performance

I think most of us knew drawing the Pens was bad. But I'm sorry no I didn't expect Washington to totally fall into the situation they are in. If you told me they were shooting 90% I'd say they'd have won at least one of the games. Holtby was a mess down the stretch and now Grubauer is having issues.

Probably not. But I would assume there are teams out there that you could flip the picks in the deal to for a top-6 winger. I'd make a hard run at Gallagher or Max Pac. Try to get a top-20 pick plus for Simmonds, use them as a centerpiece trade with the Habs.

I think I'd rather have Gallagher or Galchenyuk over Pac just because of age but I think Montreal would be a good trade partner

Edit: I think they would take simmer for one of them instead of sending them picks to be honest

So....let’s talk about Provorovs extension this summer. My guess is 8 x 52 mil

My guess is no less than Doughty's current contract.

Well...I’d argue both those players have more value straight up then Simmonds. Gallagher is 25, on a great deal coming off a 30 goal year. I don’t think montreal would have much interest in simmer

Despite an obvious down year, he still put up 24 goals during a period decreased offensive output league wide with a reasonable cap hit. There’ll definitely still be a market for him.
