He isn't going to win with every decision he makes ffs, you need to put down the koolaid and realize that there are other teams than the Leafs. Babcock is facing the top coaches in the league every night, just like a team in a 82 game season they aren't going to win them all, they will make mistakes.
At the end of the day Babs took a 30th overall team and turned them into a playoff team in back to back seasons, he turned Kadri into a 30 goal two way player, he coached every Leaf rookie to their ceilings in their 1st and 2nd seasons.
I really can't see how you can not be happy with Babcock as a coach, or does that one offside call he missed that may or may not of gone in his favour at game 45 (frank) everything else?
and judging by your lines that you put up daily, your opinion on Babs lines don't matter to me - Santo_44
um the offside was game one and the first goal. |

|
So you are saying more than just your best player can have an effect on how a team preforms?
hm - Santo_44
We have good depth and a great goalie. Most NHL coahces could have turned our team around?
No one is saying Babcock is a bad coach. But he is obsessed with grinders and piss poor vets like Pleks and Leo.
Babs actually wanted the Leafs to get Pleks! He is awful! Looks like he has a permanent groin strain when he is skating! He is done! |

I think what grinds me (and others) about Babs isn't that he's perfect, it's that he doesn't always learn from him mistakes. He's a fantastic coach, but he has faults and just because we don't get paid 5 milly to do his job doesn't mean we can't see the faults. Overplaying crap players is a specialty of his that goes bad a looong time, since Detroit. - UsernameUnknown
Cool, his coaching methods have won him cups, presidents trophy's, Gold medals
show me evidence in relation to other Gms that his methods don't work
You can't. He has accomplished a lot with his methods, whether you agree with them or not. |

Nobody cares about best season with points. Nobody will remember or care until they get close to it again.
Does anyone care the Patriots went 17 - 1? No because they lost the last game.
Does anyone care the Warriors had 72 wins in a season? No because they lost the championship.
Regular season accomplishments don't matter. Sure it's a feather in the cap of the players on the team but they won't care if they lose this series. - Aaron_85
I'm just going to throw this out there: I don't expect them to win the cup this year.
The Leafs would have had to lose at some point, but play with some goddamn effort and lose with dignity, and I would be happy. I was very satisfied with how the playoffs turned out last year. You can only go so far if Martin (frank)-a-female dog Marincin is in your line-up. They played with heart. That's all I ask from this team. |

this has been a good series to really highlight our shortcomings.
hyman, bozak, hainsey, Z, jvr, leo and plek all playing too much. - Tumbleweed
but will the REAL Matthews show up? Nobody talks about the fact that he is not having a series at the level he should |

Sure, that helps, so does the coach.
You are literally trying to pinpoint success and failures on things to just try and make your argument right, however proving no evidence.
Babs and the Leafs turned this team around.
Matthews has a huge hand in it, Marner does, Kadri does, Babs does. |

To be fair he's shortcomings have been exaggerated. Going head to head against the Bergeron line he has 9 shots in 2 games and a few other looks that missed the net. |

a learning experience for him, nylander and marner.
bergeron is still a damn good player. he's taking it to matthews right now. |

I have no issue with Babcock but he isn't infalliable. Tell me how many cups did he win in Detroit before leaving?
He's made some mistakes in the series as have all the players. My only real fault with him is he's stuck with the idea "1 grinder and 2 playmakers/shooters" on every line. - Aaron_85
Is it 1 cup? |

To be fair, I have an 8 month of puppy that could have done the bolded with the team he was gifted.
After that, cool, like I said he's a great coach. I will never say otherwise. But you need to stop spouting off about how perfect he is. He's not. He makes mistakes. He's made some in this series and if he didn't we would have had a better chance for success.
If that's too hard to grasp, then don't worry about it and move on. |

Kadri – Matthews – nylander is the line we need right now too match up against boston’s big line.

You do know that Bergeron had like 1 goal in his first 20 playoff games.
Can Matthews be better, yes of course he can but don't put it all on him. |

quite possible, many guys show up in the playoffs with nagging injuries that prevent them to play at their full potential |

Bergeon was not expected to be a superstar though (2nd round pick), Matthews has the superstar tag since he is 15yrs old I think
Like the Rev said, he's probably banged up |

Every since that injury, whether it was his back or whatever, he looked off. Then he hurt his shoulder. He is definitely not 100 per cent. Still effective though.
I am still trying to figure out what Nylanders excuse is... |
