Which center are you putting there then? And not Marleau because that was a complete and utter failure.....
And Hyman works well with Matthews and Nylander because he has two puck carriers on the line with him. - Santo_44
But I thought you cant blame one player because its a team game, but you are blaming Marleau? |

I am questioning the rational of decisions like putting LEO F'IN KORMOROV on the first line last game. And now Pleks? Who do you blame for this? Are these good decisions? Seem totally stupid to me and most other leafs fans and hockey commentators! - Hockey_Reverend
I think you are putting way too much thought into it.
He wants depth throughout his lineup, trust me Babs and the coaching staff has done 50x more research on this playoff series than you. He knows a bit more than you.... |

Might take some heat for this, so I will slowly walk out the room backwards...
I think Babcock should shuffle the D-pairings up as well;
Rielly - Polak
Gardiner - Hainsey
Dermott - Zaitsev.. - PatC80
Not bad, really stretching the limit of Polak's ice time but he has played well so far. |

Huh?
Of course it is a team game, 6 players have to do their part in order to win.
Having Marleau at C is 1 out of 6 players that does not work. At all. So you change it. simple.
You are just reaching now man |

I have no issue with Babcock but he isn't infalliable. Tell me how many cups did he win in Detroit before leaving?
He's made some mistakes in the series as have all the players. My only real fault with him is he's stuck with the idea "1 grinder and 2 playmakers/shooters" on every line. |

Right... you just keep being a homer with Babs. That was a horrid decision. I know it, everyone else knows it. He might as well have put Matt Martin on the first line... |

Zaitsev has been aweful every game all year...
But okay, keep trying - Hockey_Reverend
cool, just because Zaitzev played bad does not mean another player can't play bad
You really need to learn this |

You need to realize everything Babs does isn't going to work, just like any player, gm, coach, trainer, ect. Until you can realize that you are unable to have an intelligent conversation about it.

our defense is not able to make up for the difference. |

Well, it has worked for the Leafs....they just had their best season in history statistically. Stop reaching for more. |

Babs took the leafs from last place to where they are? Perhaps a guy names Matthews has something to do with that? - Hockey_Reverend

I realize this.
Putting Leo on the first line was, is and will always be a poor descision.
Putting Pleks at 2 is another one. Even the TSN headlines suggests this in sarcasm..
"With season on the line leafs turn to... Plekanec"
You see what they did there right? The 3 dots? That actually is code for 3 letters:
W T F
. . .
Get it? |

It’s a bit of an offseason post... but I guess since we have a few fans of teams in their off seasons, it’s ok to bring up...
What would a top-5 redraft for 2015 look like?
McDavid obviously stays at the top.
#2-4 is a bit of a toss up... Barzal has been amazing all year. Marner plays in a more 2-way role, and overcame an early season slump to lead the Leafs in Matthews’s absence, and Werenski is already a bonafide too pairing dman on a playoff team.
#5 between Rantanen and the sleeper pick Aho, another tough choice. I’d go with Rantanen though.
Am I forgetting anyone? - Feeling Glucky?
2 things.
1- I'd rank Provorov ahead of Werenski. I think he's better.
2- According to some Vagcouver fans, Marner wouldn't even be in the 1st round of a re-draft. |

Nobody cares about best season with points. Nobody will remember or care until they get close to it again.
Does anyone care the Patriots went 17 - 1? No because they lost the last game.
Does anyone care the Warriors had 72 wins in a season? No because they lost the championship.
Regular season accomplishments don't matter. Sure it's a feather in the cap of the players on the team but they won't care if they lose this series. |

So you are saying more than just your best player can have an effect on how a team preforms?

I think what grinds me (and others) about Babs isn't that he's perfect, it's that he doesn't always learn from him mistakes. He's a fantastic coach, but he has faults and just because we don't get paid 5 milly to do his job doesn't mean we can't see the faults. Overplaying crap players is a specialty of his that goes bad a looong time, since Detroit. |

I think this is where the average fan, myself included, overestimate their ability to armchair coach. Internal the Leafs track significantly more stats then are available online.
The most common and effective way to enter the offensive zone is the dump and and chase. Against this Bruins team it's even more prevalent with how effective they are at defending through the neutral zone.
Babs puts a puck retrieval guy on a line for a reason. The Bruins have been collecting dump ins with ease. |

this has been a good series to really highlight our shortcomings.
hyman, bozak, hainsey, Z, jvr, leo and plek. all playing too much. |
