I feel like Borgman should be getting a shot here over Zaitsev.
- Feeling Glucky?

That's why I was hopeful we try to trade him at the deadline. He's as soft as Marincin for pete sake. Now if you're a Bruin forward carrying the puck up ice, which D man are you headed for? No need to name the other D he might be out there with. Still, I think we get decent value in a trade this summer for him.

Yes, but even a guy like Hyman does a fine job of getting the puck out and in the other zone, as well as having a physical edge, to get teh puck down low and grind. Could Hyman not play on our 'shutdown' line?
- Hockey_Reverend

No, Marleau-Pleks-Hyman vs Marchand-Bergeron-Pasternak

No (frank)ing way in hell, they won't even have 2 mins in their end. Which defeats the purpose of getting it out

Agreed.

Is Borgman hurt or what?

maybe...just maybe....the Leafs need a better top 4 D group...like 2 of them of chew up 20+ minutes
- Symba007

Oh that too.

But I think either we go balanced, sell off offensive depth for help on D, or we go top-heavy, and throw out 3-4 lines that can score.

We're a Tavares away from the latter; seems to work for the Pens.

I personally have not been amped at all for this year's playoffs. I'm not going to get all Uggy on everyone, but I don't think we're there yet.

Okay, we will see how Pleks does... good luck.

Its a mistake. Another poor decision from Babs.

Let me guess, you were in favor of Leo starting on our first line last game? Because everyone has been bad?

I really feel this is the result of our defence and piss poor goaltending? Zaitsev has been on the ice for every goal it seems? Rielly has also been bad in our end. And Andersen was 1-4 last game on the first 4 shots?
- Hockey_Reverend

And yet Hyman is playing on our top line? You have seen his work ethic and speed right? You don't think he could play on a shut down line becuase he doesn't have magic hands like Mitch? And this has worked out well so far?

Look, I just don't see why we need Pleks on this line. There are other options. Pleks has been bad for weeks, everyone knows this. Sure, he can win draws. Who cares, that doesn't seem to be helping us.

I also don't like Marner on a 'shut down' line. Especially in the playoffs when the intensity ramps up. This is like having Denis Savard as a 'shut down' specialist.

I disagree with this statement totally. By this logic, any really bad players should just stay in because its everyones fault?

Again, did you see Pasta's last 2 goals? He was left wide open in front of our net. Where were Zaitsev and Rielly? That is either bad defence or a bad system. You can't blame Marleua for that?

He is good, but just seems to make some bad decisions now and again. Like not challenging an offside goal, line decisions, line matchups, etc.

Is he the greatest coach ever as he has been touted?

Not in my view...

- Hockey_Reverend

He isn't going to win with every decision he makes ffs, you need to put down the koolaid and realize that there are other teams than the Leafs. Babcock is facing the top coaches in the league every night, just like a team in a 82 game season they aren't going to win them all, they will make mistakes.

At the end of the day Babs took a 30th overall team and turned them into a playoff team in back to back seasons, he turned Kadri into a 30 goal two way player, he coached every Leaf rookie to their ceilings in their 1st and 2nd seasons.

I really can't see how you can not be happy with Babcock as a coach, or does that one offside call he missed that may or may not of gone in his favour at game 45 (frank) everything else?

and judging by your lines that you put up daily, your opinion on Babs lines don't matter to me

Babs took the leafs from last place to where they are? Perhaps a guy names Matthews has something to do with that?

Don't think so. But I'm pretty certain if you put him in the lineup and told him to hit anything moving in our zone, he would. And the Bruins would soon realize it too and be a tad more hesitant. But knowing Babs....

He has to have been an ask from Babcock at the deadline... same with Martin.

I fully expect Andersen to have a bounce back game, and Leafs win 4-2..

I can't see them not being ready for a fight, and will pull out the victory tonight.

It is a team game dude, everyone missed their assignments, everyone had bad games.

Just because you saw Z or Rielly miss their man right before the goal was scored doesn't mean the forwards didn't (frank) up before that. You have to go through 6 players to score, and no one has done their jobs right.

This eerily reminds me of the Raptors in 2014/15

2014 Raptors make the playoffs when they shouldn't have and make it a series against Brooklyn.

2017 Leafs make the playoffs against odds and make it a series against Washington.

2015 Raptors get home court and finish like 3rd or 4th in the East but are swept by Washington in the first round.

2018 Leafs end up 3rd in the division, 7th overall and are expected to make a series against Boston but are crushed in games 1 and 2 (We will see how it plays out)

I am questioning the rational of decisions like putting LEO F'IN KORMOROV on the first line last game. And now Pleks? Who do you blame for this? Are these good decisions? Seem totally stupid to me and most other leafs fans and hockey commentators!

Which center are you putting there then? And not Marleau because that was a complete and utter failure.....

And Hyman works well with Matthews and Nylander because he has two puck carriers on the line with him.

Between this https://streamable.com/iuaqe and the Schaller hit on Marner and the Wingels hit... how many suspensions is Boston getting?

Those three are at least as bad as Kadri’s, and they resulted in 19 PIMs to the Leafs(and that 3 game suspension), and 2PIMs to the Bruins.

- Feeling Glucky?

But I was told that the officiating in this series has been both competent and fair.
