Good interview. - shoreorrpark
definitely was, definitely would have been largely passed over if not for John on Twitter and his passion to give info. Great guy to follow. I'm fortunate he accepted my request to transcribe that entire interview for us here |

Markov, a very intelligent player who has a great first pass and was instrumental for us on the PP, well we finished 12th in the PP last year, this year we finished 13th; so from that perspective we did not miss him.

I also like «I do not think we saw the real Schlemko at all». He was a 6th defenseman with the Sharks. |

I find the fact that it would supposedly be Molson who wanted Subban out even much worst then being the GM or coach... Owners shouldn't request player trades or have too much input; he should trust, agree by his staff and sign the cheques!
Trust me, I know something about that with freakin Melnyk!
At least, Molson isn't afraid to spend...well, except this year... |

How is Molson wanting Subban gone any different than what we already knew? Molson doesn't go into the player's room, he probably doesn't talk much with his players, so all he knows is second-hand information from his GM and/or coach. I don't put any more value into his words than I would Bergevin, since it's the same mouth talking in the end.
So what we learned is that Bergevin had made-up his mind a long-time ago about Subban, which really isn't new at all. And clearly, he was wrong, since nothing has really changed since the trade, and you might even argue that things have been much worse since. I have zero trust left in Bergevin, and his latest press-conference did nothing, absolutely nothing, to ease my mind. |

It doesn't give me any relief about our coaching/front office that Molson volunteered info that it was decided months before it happened, that Subban should be traded. I'm sure this wasn't a decision solely from Molson's office. Bergevin and his fox hole buddy probably decided Subban lacked the "character" and had the wrong "attitude" to lead the team. And given Nashville's success so far with Subban, that's been proven to be complete BS.
It's also damning that if they were open to shopping Subban all along, the best deal they believed they could pull off was trading for an older defenceman with a worse contract. And this isn't a shot towards Weber. I love his game, he still is a #1 D and should be for a couple more years if he can get healthy. But at some point that contract will become a huge liability if it isn't already. This was a bad evaluation of how close the Habs were to being a cup contender, and arguably had set us back for years. |

the guy who translated this for you spends most of his day complaining about the montreal media (much more than anyone on here) and defends bergevin, molson and the organization over anything and believes they are above criticism. sure he helped you out, but i guess the guy running the pierre mcguire parody is on vacation and that's why he had the time. guy blasts your media colleagues all the time.... this is a lot like when mckenna would rip hb, but when ee gave him a guest spot oh boy did he jump on that. |

I love how you shift all responsibility from MB and MT to Molson. I’m sure they had no influence on his opinions in any way... |

ML: “I know you are a very loyal guy but do you feel changes are needed for those around you? Do you see guys in this market maybe who are capable of helping you out?”
MB: “The structure will remain the same but certainly if I feel someone can help the organization, I will strongly consider it. But I cannot make changes in only one department; I cannot make only staff changes and not player changes or vice versa”.
This is mainly what I got back from that press conference. Molson saying that "status quo is unacceptable and that changes are coming", Bergevin saying "well, wait a minute there..."
Going back and forth like that.
So...nothing will happen. |
