I watched the first period of the Caps/Jackets game, and Panarin looked small and ineffective.

I've probably seen more hitting in 6 periods of playoff hockey this post season than the entire year for the Blackhawks.

Sorry but the excuses for Toews' play are laughable fan-boy bias. WATCH HIM ON THE ICE. He is slow, has no hands, no creativity, and just NOT an impact player. Yes he stocked up on some meaningless points the last 15 games of the year playing with Kane when the Hawks were already eliminated from playoff contention, but it does not negate the fact that he has been FAR from the guy we all knew and loved from 2008-2015. When is the last time he beat a defenseman 1v1? When is the last time he drove the net with speed and power? When is the last time he was a bull on the puck and dominated possession in the O-zone? Even his defensive play has slipped. Whether it is mental or physical or both, Toews was a complete bust and his Cap Hit vs On-Ice Production are a major reason the Hawks are getting a lottery pick this year. It appears more and more likely that Marian Hossa was the best player on that line from 2013-2015, and it wasn't even close. Toews needs to improve his agility, top end speed, puck handling, shooting, and strength to even get CLOSE to being a $10.5mil player. The Jonathan Toews of 17/18 is a $5-$6mil player, and that's an opinion shared by objective analysts like Mike Milbury and Pierre McGuiere. TAKE OFF THE ROSE COLORED GLASSES and watch 19 this year on a shift to shift basis. SO many turnovers, so little explosion, so little high end play. Sad!

Maybe he was injured ,leading the HAWKS to 3 cup championships and the greatest ERA in team history ..Front runners are all the Toews critics are .. Make me barf !!

Cappy thing about Pac and Simmonds is they are both 30 years old too
- GPHawksfan

yeah, that's true. But they would fit into the "prove it" vibe of the season along with the Core-4. And if they did prove it, they'd be rewarded in Chicago or elsewhere. Meanwhile, the yunguns have another year of development under their belts.

It probably would be better to acquire a 25 or 26 year old somehow, who had been in the league a few years with some upside potential to fill in the age gap between the old and new on the Blackhawks roster. But who wants to trade away that kind of player?

Kempny got creamed into the boards, terrible hit out for the night. Game misconduct I think it was Anderson hit him on the numbers head first into the board.

That's the thing, players like that are rare and younger ones are even more valuable. I'd like it if they could get Josh Anderson type player that Columbus has. He can play and is tough and kinda dirty.

Hawks had a year of great in the (last) season, terrible in playoffs so they got "harder to play against" with Wingels, Bouma, and Hayden in preparation for the playoffs that they weren't able to get into.

All depends who is there for me: veleno dobson hughes in that order and with the second 1st round pick I would take if they are still there: McIssac Mcleod Noel Woo in that order

tough season. very difficult past three with getting bounced in two first rounds, but as a fan I am willing to give the Hawks front office a mulligan and see what they can do this summer. I find it very hard to believe that they would feel confident in rolling a similar roster our into next season. I think a few players will be moved. And for the first time in seemingly forever, they will have money to spend as opposed to needing to trim money and trade players.

Watching Keith, Seabrook, and Toews struggle/decline has been tough. There is no denying that all three aren't the same as they were from years past, but at some point the last ten years was going to catch up to them. Can't fault Seabrook or Toews for signing the deals they signed. Also don't think they are done though. Will be interesting to see what management has up their sleeves this summer. Have to believe some are fighting for their jobs now so desperate times might call for desperate measures...

I love playoff hockey. Have long thought it was the toughest to play and most exciting to watch. The intensitiy and number of games the teams gave to fight through make it the best playoffs of all the major sports.

But it sure is tough watching it this year. I don’t know whether it was better watching the Hawks get blown out last year or not even having an opportunity to watch them this year?

Let's face face it, with the way the Hawks are currently constructed unless major changes are made, they will not see the playoffs for quite a few years. Good luck with your team McEgo.

Panarin is a superstar

82 pts this season

No Kane needed

Just scored the game winning goal in OT for the Blue Jackets after multiple assists in regular to lead their comeback.

He's good enough to be a teams #1 option

.........and we traded him for (frank)ing Brandon "right place at the right time when my career started so now everyone thinks I'm way better than i actually am" Saad

What a freaking slick snipe by Artemi! I was happy with the trade for Saad and believe it will be more positive next year and beyond, but I sure miss the excitement and skills 72 has.

You gotta be kidding me

You're happy we lost that all-world superstar for a 30-40pt per season caliber average joe?

Artemi Panarin OT GWG on an amazing individual play. Too bad he doesn't care about NHL playoffs, just think how much better he could play. That trade should keep Stan Bowman awake in the middle of the night. It makes me want to vomit. 1G 2A tonight for Panarin.

Also I'm very happy we traded 80+ goals created for 36 with Saad. Saad is a "playoff type" player...oh wait....

Nice goal. Too bad he didn't do any of that while he was playing for the Hawks in the playoffs...maybe he'd still be here.
