There have been other explanation why the trade was made. Which i choose to believe. Of course Panarin is the better skill player. I suggest you be the GM and see how you do. Not that Bowman is without fault. But you are naive if you say Bowmanndid not have a plan - jhawk59
If Bowman had any plan at all how did they go from first place to last place? Where is the Panarin replacement? Why on earth would anybody break up the highest scoring line in the NHL for no reason and almost no return? Why is there no longer anybody on the roster to play with Kane and take some of the pressure off of him? Why was there no goaltending backup for Crawford? What was wrong with keeping Darling in a situation where he thrived? Where is the replacement for Hammer and on and on and on. The propaganda about cost containment is an insult to the fans. Sickening. Bowman has never cost contained anybody. Isn't that one of the biggest problems he created? In these and many other ways Bowman has not only slammed the window shut in Chicago but he nailed it closed. |

A A Nashville's 1st for hamilton
Would anybody trade for matt martin we need tough players to play against
Martin martinsin hayden/ wingles if he resigns with us plus like to see hawks sign Brandon manning tough player clear the crease physical and can fight - Scott1977
Calgary wants more than Nashville's 1st for Hamilton, is 'A A' anisimov? If so, maybe that will get it done.
One guy I'd love from the Flames is Backlund, he's a supremely defensive center. The guy starts most shifts in the defensive zone and ends them... guess where... the offensive zone.
He's not going to light the lamp enough to make any all-star team, but he tilts the ice in your favor whenever he's on the ice. Looks at these stats: https://www.hockey-refere...b/backlmi01-advanced.html
Outside of Bergeron, Kopitar, Barkov, and the like you won't find a better ice-tilting player. |

Only a 3rd team all-star. Weak. - Rota's Rooter
But does he have a physical edge to his game? Moreover. Why third team? Whom beat him out? Third team does sound weak. But this is a dman who has played different styles
So that could help his all around development. Probably gets in one of last two game of regular AHL season, both vs Icehogs. See on tube or in person saturday Wolves on tube game in Rockford tonight. |

I may be wrong in my assumption, but I don't think this is a huge need for us. We have the offensive fire power POTENTIAL, just need to have complimentary pieces around them to help. Yes, we do need to add another scorer, but i think we need solid players to help push the pace. Backlund and E. Kane would be at the top of my ideal offseason adds. |

I would say no since Q had no idea of the 2 trades last offseason or yes and Q is not involve in those decisions he should be - Scott1977
My guess would be yes, decisions are made by committee but Q isn't part of the committee. |

Apparently the flames might be willing to trade Brodie or Hamilton for scoring help. Hamilton would slot in with Keith nicely. Likely cost Debrincat though. Or maybe the higher 1st this year. - GPHawksfan
Hamilton would be great, but likely way out of the Hawks league price-wise. I agree that it would cost DeBrincat (likely) and then some. I wouldn't trade our first round pick since we're drafting first overall, but I'm totally ok trading the Nashville pick.
But a top pairing d-man who's only 24 and cost controlled for 3 more years.... |

Ya I agree. I wish they had offered Saad for Hamilton to the bruins. They were traded hours apart that summer and Calgary didn't give up all that much for Hamilton at the time. |

Hawks already have something like that in a 25 y/o Connor Murphy. Oh wait, you said top paring... |

Hey...that wouldn't be a bad trade. They're close in age, cap hit and contract duration. |

That's what I think. There's no way, for instance, Stan trades lil Arti without talking to someone.

I wish it was 12 goals in 4 playoff games. Anything less is bust territory. |

Bennett maybe too soft on a Blackhawks team with too soft Schmaltz. Smallish Debrincat, and Kane & Sikura not big either. |

AA + Nashville's 1st + jurco + 3rd lowest one for
Hamilton and ferland too much not enough get a top 4 d man plus a gritty player who is physical and has some offense upside. Thoughts? |

I don't think Calgary would do this deal. I just don't think AA or Jurco bring much value at the moment. |

Personally, I wouldn't be opposed to it, if the Hawks figure they can get competitive next season. I also wouldn't hesitate to use either Duclair or Hinostroza as part of a trade if they were able to get a good dman.
I think think Hamilton would come with a fairly high price at this point. 40-50 points from the blueline and only now 24 years old, he is pretty much going into his prime right now. |
