Well good thing about Grabs not working out for Devils is that he can be signed for only a few $$ more than his current contract. No way does NYR give him 3mill per. |

Grabner's projected U.F.A. value will likely be reduced a little bit overall in annual dollars & a year's term, making a possible re-signing this summer with the Rangers be more feasible for them, to replace in part that current role hole in their roster. |

was reading a bit about Rykov last week; quite a few Devs fans was high on him.
oh and btw, Shestyorkin played for Russia against Norway in the weekend - zero goals against. A very weak Norwegian team though... |

Only thing I worry about with bringing Grabs back is its going to be a different team and coach. He thrived under AV, don't know how well his play would translate under a different coach. |

At this point, why even entertain bringing him back (not even talking about his play, just the way the organization is heading)? Let some of these kids get shots to make the lineup. a lot of new blood in the organization, and hopefully after the draft

Same reason you bring back any other good player that fits salary wise. Because you want them to mentor youth and instill in them the proper way to play and prepare for games. |

Should the Capitals be ousted early, and especially in this first round by the BJ's, you would have to expect that they would make some type of major off season move or two to improve as Cup contenders again.
With d'man, John Carlson being a must for them to re-sign unless seriously entering the sweepstakes for that "other" Karlsson in Erik, this could involve them in dealing Holtby with his 2 years remaining at an annual $6.1M, as their starting point. They still also have Niskanen and Orlov locked in on the back line for 3 years @ $5.75M, and 5 years @ $5.1M annually, respectively. Also, Ovi has a Modified NTC list of 10 teams which he cannot be dealt to, in being the least of their on the ice problems.
Maybe Ovi's and Hank's only possible way to win a Cup prior to retiring, would be if playing on the same team. But that would be better suited if on one other than the Capitals or Rangers, as per their two teams' histories of misfortunes in falling short. That's with the exception for one Rangers season, though extending now to the last 78 years, as opposed to the Caps about 2/3 that time length since entering the NHL. |

ya I agree, Gorton got all the value you he could from Grabner considering his salary for the production the last two years.. not even mentioning what he brought back. Time to move on |

Bingo. I have reservations about bringing Grabs back, but they do need to fill some spots with good veteran players. Can't have every young player just thrown in there. We will be Oilers east. |

He will have JT resigning or going to the 30 other teams before July 1, I wouldn’t worry about the mush just yet. |

AV is gone, I don't want Grabs back in a new system, he's not worth more than $3 mil per at this pint |

$3??? Hes not worth $2.25M
Again not that he is a bad player, but what are you paying him for? What is his exact role on the 2018-2019 NY Rangers and beyond? |

The Rangers received some good news very early during this off season over the weekend, when Hank's MRI he had undergone late last week had showed NO structural damage of any kind, other than being an MCL injury. It could have possibly been just below a mid level Grade 2 sprain, which allowed him to play through it, as opposed to the greater nature MCL one which Pavlec had suffered that sidelined him for an extended period.
On breakup day as I alerted here on Jan's prior blog, Hank mentioned that he played the entire season through a knee injury, which was treated at times when irking him. He also said then that he first injured it during last year's World Championships in playing for Sweden, but aggravated it after a player had collided with it during a late October or early November game this past season. He will be required to rest completely for about one month, in also needing some special "platelet-rich plasma" treatments, prior to starting his usual summer training workouts leading into training camp.
In addition, Zuccarello reported on breakup day that he also played with an injured knee this past season, of which its extent had not yet been released. |

I'm actually enjoying it this year. No stress, enjoying other games. |
