I would do Severson, Q, and Zacha, no 1st, for EK and Gaborik. Gab makes less, has 1 year less on contract and is more productive when healthy.

I would not include the 1st because we could be at the bottom of the league next year.

Severson is signed, but Hynes isn't using him so that's irrelevant. Q don't look like much and Zacha would be out produced by Karlsson anyway.

And I think those three would bring a brighter future to OTT because of age.

As for Mcleod, he's been injury prone in juniors so far. I don't know whether to include him or Zacha, both seem unappealing to me as of this moment.

If Tavares doesn't sign do the devils have a chance, where close by, we have money

I think we would be right up there.

My guess is that we would but I doubt he's leaving.

I'd rather give them McLoed. He hasn't proved much of anything and I like Zachas progression. I think he can be a pretty solid center.

The devils do not need to trade for EK or Pursue JT in free agency as we already have our future top line center in Hischier and Zacha or McLoed should be able to step into the 2nd line center role... as for EK the price tag for him is too steep trade wise and cap wise

He's outta there like poop thru a goose.

What's he staying for? The bad uniform colors? The empty building? The extra time off by not making the playoffs? The idiotic GM? The horrible coaching staff? The lack of a real stadium home for 3 more years? The joy of weak goaltending to keep any game exciting?

I'm sure most players would prefer not to relocate and perhaps a guaranteed 8th year has some value. But JT is going to get huge $$ wherever he goes and can make up for that last year in his next contract.

Go home to Toronto? Stay here and play with the Rags or Devils? Do whatever you want somewhere else? Or stay on the Island and wonder why next year seems like this year, which seems like last year...futile.

Dont forget to include offers for OEL and Doughty.

If Sev and mcLeod were in the package no way our first should be. A second rounder for sure. Especially with one yr left on their contracts. Shero aint dumb enough to over pay though.

Youre right. Lets not forget JT gave the Isles a huge discount pretty much is whole career. And they did nothing with that extra cash. He's done in Long Island.

Don't need? EK and JT would give the Devils a legit CUP contender for years. Mcleod hasn't proven anything and Zacha hasn't produced much to justice not trying to get JT.

The Devils would have JT and Hischier as 1 and 2. I'd take that. No point in wasting Hall's career.

It would bump Big Boyler out and we would have Tavares - Nico - Zacha - Zajac down the middle. Give us something like:

Hall - JT - Palms
Mojo - Nico - Bratt
Coleman - Zacha - Noesen
Wood - Zajac - Maroon (who I would sign if practical)

Gibbons/Boyle

looks pretty nice to me.

Then add EK/JT and Hall/Palms would certainly make for a mean PP.

No way! A 1st this year, Q, McLoed/Zacha, Speers/Bastian and Severson?! I understand Karlsson is one of the best, if not the best defenseman but Frank no. We would sell our entire farm for one guy. That makes no sense
- Devils4ever

I think you're overvaluing these players. Will any of them develop into one of the best at their position? A top line forward even? A top pairing dman? NO. Q will be 2nd line at absolute best. McLeod and Zacha.. same deal. Speers and Bastian will be lucky to be 3rd liners. And it's only one of McLeod and Zacha. I think you're overvaluing our spare change and undervaluing just how dynamic and game-changing Karlsson is.

Zacha and Severson are both roster players and prospects you just have no idea. I think giving up assets for one of the best defenseman in the league is reasonable, but at some point you're giving away too many coin flips to the other guy. I don't know how much is too much in this case, but you can't just dump all the prospects into one guy.

Pittsburgh has Crosby and Malkin, and they've been to 4 Cup Finals, winning 3 of them. It's perfectly OK to have Hischier, Tavares, Zacha/Mcleod as our top 3 center. Tavares makes everyone around him better. Hall is great with Hischier. Tavares would be great with literally anyone. We'd be hard to beat with those 2 down the middle dominating possession and scoring goals, especially with Hall and Tavares on separate lines.

I wouldn't be against making a move for one of JT or EK, providing they sign extensions with us.

They're roster players that are replaceable. I'd rather move McLeod than Zacha, but if Karlsson is coming back and it's Zacha or bust.. I'm moving the guy. Most of our team is young, so losing a few prospects wouldn't be the worst thing for this guy.

I'd be ok with our 1st, Zacha or McLeod, and Q or Speers for Karlsson. I don't think they'd want Bastian because to my knowledge he's not that great of a prospect. If we have to give up Speers AND Q, then fine. Like I said, I don't see high ceilings for those guys.

We'd still have Bastian, Lappin, one of Q/Speers, one of McLeod/Zacha.. then Bratt, Coleman, Wood, Noesen, and whoever we draft this year.

I agree with this, plus we still have other guys coming in soon like a Joey Anderson and Jesper Boqvist. We've revamped our prospect pool well enough to be able to part with the guys mentioned above for a Karlsson. Also we have some really solid defensive prospects still in juniors/college to part with a Severson, like Walsh/Davies/Sissons

Don't get me wrong, I agree with you. I am a vocal Zacha supporter but I wouldn't be upset trading him for Karlsson.

something to keep in mind is Hall, Coleman and Vatanen are 26, Palmieri, JT and EK are 27.
Then you have the 19-23 crew in Nico, Bratt, Zacha, Wood, Severson, Santini, Butcher.

I think our window opens and closes with Hall, so adding another guy around his age, while giving up some prospects and a pick for another top tier EK or JT, wouldn't be the worst thing..

I know he's really good and still young but my expectations are kinda tempered on Boqvist. Did not impress me at the tournament even compared to Zetterlund

Here is my concern, and it may be nothing. EK is having his worst "full" season since 10'-11'. He is also coming off an injury, which some experts have said affected his game this year. Next year will be his 9th season. I'm sorry, I don't give up the farm for him.
