That Captain needs to go a few months without anyone knocking him around. Let's see if he can heal whatever ails him.

Anybody not renewing or going to try and relocate?
What time slot / date is your relocation option at?

- stan-ley-cups

My time just came up to log in for relocation. I'm not moving mine but surprised at the amount of seats open. Seats on the glass, aisle seats a few rows off the ice on the blue line, many seats in almost all sections. I'm guessing a lot of people didn't renew.

The seats next to me over the years were sold on stubhub, now they're open for me to purchase. Looks like I'll have new neighbors for next season.

I will be happy when he is retired. He cannot play a certain way, then i wish he would retire becsuse he is pulling down too much coin. He does deserve a payday for all he has done, but enough already. I hope his game regresses because a proud Toews would then retire. He just is holding us back. Useful player still - sure. Worth the coin in rebuild. No. We have seen the truth and it hurts. Now move on. Can you handle the truth.

Brilliant comments. And of course a "proud Toews" would retire and give up $52.5M remaining over the next five years of his contract. Wouldn't you?

You want Keenan??!! Glad you're not the Hawks' GM. Perhaps you could drive the Zamboni.

Weak. Is that your opinion, that the Hawks couldn't use Panarin? . Second worst trade in team history........for now. Next year when Panarin gets a little help he'll likely hit 100 points and this will start to become the worst trade in team history.
- Savoy

Nothing will EVER, EVER, EVER be worse than Hawks trading Phil Esposito, Ken Hodge and Fred Stanfield to the Bruins for Gilles Marrotte, Pit Martin and Jack Norris. Worst trade in NHL history. Probably cost the Hawks two or three Cups.

Toews is not bad or finished. He is not 10.5mm good but the Hawks are still stronger by far with him than without him. He is operating at a 58 point clip if it was a full season for him. That is the same point total as last year and the same as the year before that. I didn't hear that he was washed up two years ago. The beaching about him has taken on a hyperbolic life of it's own like so many other themes on this board.

yes you are right but Bowman is trying hard to claim the number one spot. Right now he is IMO number two. There is a story about the biggest loser contest where the genuine biggest loser would of course finish second.

The Hawks organization most closely resembles the Titantic right now so good analogy. The Hawks are a last place team and absolutely painful to watch most nights this year which leads to less fans being "fanatical". Toews is the most overpaid player in the NHL this year. His 52 points tied for 96th in the NHL (tied with the Retiring 37 yr old Daniel Sedin).

that is what comes of having the most overpaid gm in history.(What's the pay scale for a king jackass?) We'll see if mgt offers more of the same 'I like this team' next year. No sane businessman would do that but......

Toews represents inconsistency. Some games he shows up in certain ways as a positive contributor yet more often he is soft or invisible. He shies away from contact. We have enough guys smaller and not battling hard for pucks along boards. For that much coin and you do not know how his body is holding out game to game. I would rather a prospect take his place for far less money
Use the saving on a push back gritty forward
we are lacking. And or a new goaltender.

If he was an investment piece you would want better assurance. He is not going to retire unless he slips a lot.

Just the facts. Again: useful, occassionally good but not worth that much

The teams that have bounced back are run by hockey guys - not marketing guys. That is why I think the answer lies there.

But absent being able to move vets past their prime locked into large deals with NMCs limits even a good hockey guy’s ability to make the needed moves to right the ship. A new CBA is key to making the needed changes.

- Return of the Roar

That’s why I think Norm McIver will replace Bowman...he’s a hockey guy.

As for dramatic roster moves, I would trade Kane, Duclair, Murphy, Gustafsson to Buffalo (if they indeed get the first overall pick) for Dahlin, Ristolainen, and Bennett. Unless the Hawks want to become the Wings, the time would be now to be bold while there’s still a ton of value. Keith doesn’t yield much because of age and the loss of a step. Seabrook, well... Toews is the face of the franchise. Kane is the most dynamic, brings the most in a trade, and Buffalo would LOVE to have the hometown kid to market and play with Eichel.

I’d then package the two first round picks, plus, to get into the top 4 to grab one of Svechnikov, Tkachuk, or Zadina.

I know there would likely additional assets possibly going either way in these deals. Bottom line is do the Hawks want to keep marketing players and a team on the decline (even with their young kids playing well), or turn over a new leaf around a new, younger core?

You really whine a lot. It's a bit excessive, along with others on this board as of late. Every time I'm on here to take a look from a far, you're in the middle of it, barking and being overdramatic about everything in Hawks Land. You can't control anything, so let's see how things play out once the season is officially over. I come on this board for knowledgeable insight, not your constant bashing of players and management.

Anyone watching Bolts/Bruins?

Douchand tried pulling another Ducliar on McDonaugh
it came close but nothing major happened, he's a
walking time bomb that need's to be dealt with before
he destroys someones career.

Filthiest player ever IMO and that's sayin alot.

Oh and the Hawks need quite a bit to compete with
these guys

If Kane goes then better have a couple Tkachuk type because the offense is stoppable without a true star. I see just a lit of good players. You place a lot of expectations on DeBrincat, Schmaultz, Sikura and your top four pick. Might work out ok
But now you have a cornerstone on blueline plus hopefully good prospects in the system to develop and later help make the defence quite worthy..

Of course GM never do what we want them to do. Usually these models are flawed, but yours could work. Turning over a new leaf as well.

Kane duclair forsling Nashville's 1st to buffalo for their 1st 2nd Rinehart nylander top d prospect or mccabe then trade kieth to toronto for their 1st and liengren this is predicated on the fact the hawks are in a full rebuild.

I have been hearing all along that Q will be gone.

It's unfortunate but what a hell of a run to date for the HOF coach.

I'm not sure it's the right move, but my opinion has been that a new era will begin the second this season ends. Whether that is big changes to management or the roster.

If Q is gone, I think it would best to also dismiss Stan Bowman, however, you have to remember that McDonough is really calling the shots at the end of the day. So between McD, Scotty, Stan and whomever else is in the room... they share in their wins and losses (with the team, drafting, trades, etc.) ... that's just how this team is set up and has been set up for the last decade with this regime.

We can blame or praise Stan, but at the end of the day, he's mostly an order taker.

- Justin Lowe

Justin, you're doing a great job, don't get me wrong, but how do you know McD is calling the shots? In terms of protecting lil' Bowman (that's his call ultimately) or on-ice personnel (not his call!!)? There seems to be a ton of speculation, unless you have a mole in the organization. Goes without saying if he cans junior than so goes senior, and then he's in Ted Phillips' territory. Remember we have (or had) the preeminent hockey mind in Scotty. Now we have to find a replacement for Scotty and then a GM. It can be done, but it's daunting. Hockey minds and quality GMs (Yzerman, etc) haven't won Cups. I think that Q should go, and that's more realistic than the nuclear option of canning the Bowmans, that I also think is warranted, though unlikely.

As I said this is a great board with great participation, but the level of thin skin and angry reaction is bordering on ludicrous. This ain't Philly, right? We're on the waning side of success and that sucks but we got to chill. We're on the same side, gents!
