Based on the small sample size, I'd like to see Martinsen back on the 4th line. We need at least 2 people on this team who are somewhat of a physical presence (ie,Hayden/Martinsen). - Murph76
I wouldn't be opposed to resigning him either. He's got a little more skill than Bouma as well. They need to still have the makings of a BANGER line when they need to get going. |

I thought Ejsdsell showed some skills in the offensive zone and his size is very welcomed. One odd thing, and this is on Quenville, Hawks were on the power play, had Anisimov in front of the net as usual, but had Ejdsell at the point with Gustafson.
I find that very odd ....... why not on the power play, use two large bodies in front of the net, that have good hands. That's wasting his size in the offensive zone. Use Gus and another shooter on the point - Artie and Edsy in front with player like Kane on the flank. - chuckdahammer
Ejdsell has spent some time in that spot in Sweden and has a great shot. My thinking is they were seeing what he's got for a point shot.
But hey... nice to have a couple big bodies like that in general. It gives them some options next year. |

Haha. Bouma did net a couple goals for Rockford the other night so I guess I will have to be careful when referring to his skill. |

I don't get the love for Martinsen, I'm fine if he gets re-signed and ends up in Rockford. But if he plays regularly for Chicago that will be a big problem. |

I hope he makes the team next season, the Hawks don't have many guys with his size and skillset. Plus I'd just like to see some value from the Hartman trade. |

I noticed the positioning and I assume it was just that they were plugging him into #19's spot rather than changing up the PP too much. |

My thoughts:
Duclair - RFA: 1 year cheap "show me" deal
Hayden - RFA: 1-2 year deal around $1 million per
Sharp: find an off ice role for him
Jurco: 1 year < $1 million (likely ending up in Rockford)
Hino - RFA: 2 years $1.25 - $1.5 million per (this team needs more Vinnie)
Martinsen - UFA: buh bye
Rozsival - UFA: buh bye
Franson - UFA: buh bye
Buoma - UFA: super buh bye
Svedberg - UFA: buh bye
Tootoo - UFA: find an off ice role for him
Clendening - RFA: trade to Vancouver for excellent prospect
Didomenico - UFA: buh bye
Glass - UFA: buh bye - DarthKane
This is how I see the super buh bye going down.

Cost of doing business, might as well see what the kid can do anyway. Can he really be any worse that Gustafsson? |

also, highmore sent to the rock (making room for sikura), someone else will have to go to make room for Hillman |

Crow being activated 😃?? Or the great Jeff Glass and new Masterton nominee getting the call? |

Edjsell with a couple nice plays with the puck early on. He's got a very short stride for how long his legs are. Not a great skater, but moves well enough. PP1 look for Big Vic as well. - EnzoD
Was at the game, Edjsell had some decent plays. Definitely had some baby deer legs out there for the first two periods. He lost his man in our zone and got beat to the net, probably showing him how instantly other teams score on you unless you're barraging them anywhere near the crease.
He'll definitely need a skating coach this summer, looked like he was bending his skates almost at times.

The way things have been going, I'm half expecting to see an announcement that they signed Wouter Peeters and he will play Thursday. |

It's very clear why he was an undrafted player IMO...his skating as an 18 year old was probably much much worse. He's relatively young at 22 and this is his first week ever playing on the Small ice surface. What was encouraging was his poise with the puck on his stick and his offensive instincts moving around the zone both with and without the puck. Patrick Kane makes everyone on his line look better and he was flying around last night, but I envision Edjsell as a nice PP player and depth scorer as he rounds out the flaws in his game. He should only improve. |

I don't get the hate for Martinsen either, we all female dog about Stan signing a bunch of tiny non-physical Euros and in Martinsen they have a big body who can throw checks, clear the net, isn't glacially slow, can potentially stand up for other teammates, and score on occasion and you want to re-sign Jurco? Come on Darth |

They are at 34 next year thus far, without them signing any of the players going to free agency. Looking at the UFA and RFA's next year, I can't really see the Hawks brining most of these guys back, maybe 4 or 5 of them tops (out of 14). So that means lots of space to add this offseason. Here is the list:
Duclair - RFA
Hayden - RFA - definitely back
Sharp - UFA
Jurco - RFA
Hino - RFA - definitely back or traded
Martinsen - UFA
Rozsival - UFA - definitely gone
Franson - UFA
Buoma - UFA
Svedberg - UFA
Tootoo - UFA
Clendening - RFA
Didomenico - UFA
Glass - UFA - ToewsdNKanefusd
Duclair - RFA - show me deal
Hayden - RFA - definitely back
Sharp - UFA - back as 12/13th forward
Jurco - RFA - gone
Hino - RFA - definitely back or traded
Martinsen - UFA - two way
Rozsival - UFA - definitely gone
Franson - UFA - gone
Buoma - UFA - gone
Svedberg - UFA - AHL
Tootoo - UFA - gone
Clendening - RFA - AHL
Didomenico - UFA - AHL
Glass - UFA - gone

I thought that even if he clears, they don't have to do anything. Clearing waivers just gives them flexibility going forward. Perhaps sending him to Rock after the season for the AHL playoffs as a 3rd goalie? |

He is far better than Forsberg.

I'd be possibly interested in trying something like this...
Toews-Schmaltz-Kane
Cat-Anismov-Vinnie
Saad-Ed-Sikura
Highmore-Kampf-Hayden
Have two vets on rotate in. I wanna see Toews play on the wing more. I think the move could really help his overall game out. He can still draw in for big FO's that need to be won, but not having to take the physical demand of playing Center and playing on Kane's opposite wing could do wonders for his point totals |
