Perfect setup for Keith from about 8 feet out...

...misses the net by 4 feet.

That's hard to do.

Still found a way to hit shin pads

This game has been entertaining...

...and they're losing as well. Fine by me.

Lose for the lottery boyz!

- ArlingtonRob

Almost the perfect game for the situation they are in now: be competitive and engaged for 59 minutes and then lose in the last minute.

Thought the goalie looked more comfortable and confident tonight. However I heard foley shout something like “and he looked back and didn’t know he had it” more than I wanted.

Forsberg made some nice saves in OT .Still believe he will be a NHL goalie ,maybe not in Chicago if Coach Q remains behind the bench .That would be a shame ..

Would love to see adb get 30 goals this year. Think that would be one if the few positive stories this year.

ejdell needs a half season at least in the a. But he doesn't look bad. I'm so sick of jurco and highmore why is Hayden sitting? Those guys are just fillers not part of the future same with oesterle we don't have any other dmen I'd rather have franson back up. Martinsen brings much needed physicality but he has some dumb penalties which for him have a roughing or a charge but for a energy player to get holdings and hooking isn't good.

John Hayden is out tonight with an upper-body injury, so Matthew Highmore draws in. Morning skate was a test for Hayden.

Evander Kane is freakin good at hockey, the rest is noise bc of the wannabe Puritan hockey community. Would LOVE to sign this guy if the goal is winning a Cup while they still have Keith at top pair effectiveness. He's only 26 and a prototype 1st line Power Forward.

Pretty sure Hayden was out with an upper body. Got crunched near the benches last game. He took the morning skate to see if he could go but was shut down. Highmore would have sat.

He certainly seems to struggle when the puck gets shot into his pads. I'm not sure if it is just confidence, but happened a few times lately that he gives up a goal because he doesn't just squeeze the pads.

If this is Ulfs defense the Hawks have to bring in someone else, these odd man advantages are so (frank)ing frustrating to watch, over and over and over again
- BetweenTheDots

I saw many turnovers, seemed a couple were just born out of laziness the defensemen not too good. But they do handle the puck alright WHICH means they are exactly what we have been saying they are. Third pair or depth on a better team. And i was at the game.

My impression on Edjsell is that he is a skill guy whom looks slow but actually he may not be as slow as you first seem to think. He has knowledge or experience to move back in forth from in front of the net or 10-15 feet in front of net. He reads off play and back up, turns, whatever to get the pass. He made some good passes, good vision. While he battles for puck along boards, it is a stick battle....not backing down, but he doesn"t hit (check) anyone. He came back, defensively, was looking to either be in correct position or watch where his man was.

In short, big guy with reach has skill looks like a point producer, not at all out of place or overwhelmed. This last point is probably why Bowman was anxious to get him to the AHL then it works out to NHL.

Kane set him up real nice early first period but the puck just wasn't quite within reach for a prime shooting attempt. It looked like he might pull off a nice move in the 3-3 ot but in the end of play drifted away toward the boards. I was kind of concerned with his skating in that OT but thought, let 's see what happens. Teams need big centers and he showed a lot of promise. Just wish he had some meaness in him. Let's watch some more before pouncing on anything in his game you detest. I csn hear some of you calling the jolly green giant playing soft along with the smurfs.

I agree with your premise regarding size being less important than hockey talent. However, Evan Bouchard has VERY impressive scoring numbers in the OHL and is 6'2" 190+lbs
- EnzoD

If we can't get Tkachuk, that's the kid I want, but you watch , both of those kids wil fall into Bowmans lap , but he will take the little Sh-t from Michigan. Enough already Stan, get some size now!
I thought Ejdsell looked like he s gonna have promise unlike the last big sak of pillow feathers that was here, Rassmussen .

Rockford's Sikura the brother who had been there this season, had his 18th goal as the Icehogs won, 4-1. They beat a top team and maybe they need to win again (?) In the grudge re-match up in Canada. Rockford trying to get in as a fourth place team in their division

I will be curious if Toullola plays; just signed officially announced Monday.

Solid team effort tonight, but IMO this Edjsell kid is simply too slow for the "type" or "style" (whatever word you wanna use) of rebuild/retooling that we're going for.

We need to become a team with ELITE speed top to bottom once again, and with so many other options at forward within our system right now I'm afraid he's not good enough or at least not what we're looking for.

I'm hoping Sikura has impressive skating ability, I've heard good things so far.

I'd LOVE for us to focus on drafting a stud young defenseman with our lottery pick, and somehow through whatever means necessary rid ourselves of one of Murphy/Seabrook and add a legit top 3D instead.

Do that, keep the forwards the way they are, and get Crawford healthy. Then who knows, maybe we're right back in it next season with a lineup like this:

Duclair-Anisimov-Kane
DeBrincat-Schmaltz-Sikura
Saad-Toews-Hinostroza
Hayden-Kampf-Wingles
Sharp

Keith-new D#1
new D#2-Seabs/Murphy
3rd pairing can be a mix of Forsling/Rutta/Oesterle/Gus/cheap vet

Crawford
Forsberg

I like the idea of spreading out the forward depth to create 3 FAST lines that can all be considered 'top 6' caliber lines and that can all produce/score goals. Its about time Toews gets a 'demotion' down the depth charts to 3C.

If you take a look around the league at the elite contenders, one thing they all have in common(and have for years now) is ELITE 3rd scoring lines. A 3rd line with Saad and Toews would instantly become one of the better '3rd' lines in the league.

DeBrincat and Schmaltz IMO are both already top 6 caliber forwards. Come next season they'll be even better. And no matter what you say about AA and Kane, they're still two thirds of what was one of the leagues most dominant lines for almost a 2 year span....and Duclair has the tools to produce if he stays healthy.

That's A LOT of young speed and talent. Especially because this plan assumes we add another young, skilled defenseman with that top draft pick.

Every year there seems to be a bounce-back team that A. Gets a couple of key pieces back healthy that weren't there the previous year and B. Gets a massive boost from readily developed youthful talent(in other words not just a bunch of rookies making their debuts, but guys that now have a season or two under their belts combined with maybe one or too rooks).

I think the Hawks are lined up to have both A and B. Ya never know. I'm not saying its likely, but I'm saying I see the potential...and i see why ESPN and other sports outlets have us pegged to bounce back next season towards Cup contention.

Yes....a couple times or three he did. Looked like he had E Kane shot stopped between his pads but Forsberg slid, his own momentum with puck into net

Back from game i looked through the comments and regarding Edjsell looks too slow, you would do well to review what StLBraves fan and spec71 post on page 6 said. I too had the initial impression that he was too slow.
Would like to see him after summer camp and half season AHL could help him apply any skating technique plus just adjust to north america speed, rinks, defensively tidy up.

Either New Jersey or Florida but not both make playoffs.

If NJ looses out can only surmise if they would have got in with a healthy M Johansson. All the more reason Marchand should be banned until Johansson returns to game action. I do not think Bettman has reason to let Marchand off hook with paltry 5 games while Johansson still not back 29 gp and counting.
