Sorry to see Forsberg lose his first NHL shutout, but it's all about the tank now.

Forsberg deserved the shutout. He was exceptional and robbed the Hawks of a TANK night.

So
Those who question the goaltending
-- admittingly not good lately but
You know calling current tandem AHL calibre is phoey
Forsberg gives you a reminder
He is capable, erractic is your better assessment
And since the team isn't playoff bound next season
Let's keep Forsburg & Berube
Here's the kicker
If Crawford returns strong sometime next season
What to do, maybe trade a goaltender for a draft pick

I challenge you to name a city in Texas where the Cubs had a farm team long ago -- maybe early 80's (?). And the Blackhawks had a farm team in Texas once upon a time - what city was that?
- jhawk59

My namesake team moved to Dallas when the Blues came into the league.

Was the Cubs farm team in Ft. Worth?

Rangers with the win, and the Red Wings tied halfway through the 3rd. We might not lose any ground tonight.

hawks win, habs and wings lose...hawks up by 5-6 pts with 6 gmes let...

the slipping down into 5th or 6th spot is looking dim...most likely 7-9th spot...

i just don't see the habs or wings winning even if the hawks lose 5 of the last 6...

Powers was saying the Hogs are playing Edjsell at centre, maybe the organization sees him playing down the middle?

Watching the northeastern Michigan game gaudett skuira look good if the hawks draft huges won't be disappointed kid can skate like the wind edge work is excellent future quarterback of a pp. Thought drop some info
- Scott1977

I too was impressed by this kid. I know that Bowman would take a lot of heat if he drafted him, but man can he skate. If he grows to a decent size, there will be a lot of teams kicking themselves for not drafting him.

I'm still not sure about Schmaltz at C. I mean, he is probably the second best C on the team, but he might be better for the team as a RW on Toews' line along with Saad.

As @MarkLazerus has reported, likely only a matter of days until Northeastern’s Dylan Sikura is signed and in CHI lineup. Two sides expected to get the ball rolling on formalities (contract/immigration) in the next day or so:

Not one word in the print edition of the Saturday Chicago Tribune sports section about the Hawks. Nada. Zip. Zilch. Usually on game day there are a few paragraphs previewing the game along with some notes regarding injury updates, who's in the line up tonight, etc.

Hawks becoming irrelevant the last couple of weeks of the season in the eyes of the media. This must make McD elated.

If the Hawks get the 6-10th pick, what would it take to trade up to the 3-4? Would both their #1's be enough? How about their late #1 and Saad--too much?

Why would you do that? I´d rather keep Saad + late 1st round pick and get what´s left in 6-10th pick.

Well if it means anything, I just found a site called Tankathon, that has a draft simulator, the first time I hit the button, the Hawks won the lottery and drafted Dahlin.

So we got that going for us

--first season since 2006-07, baring a MAJOR run in the last 7 games, this team will fail to reach at least 80 points. Can't be ignored.

--Been reading national reports and truly.....the spin coming for bowman is laughable. Ignoring age but pointing to every best player having a down year, and Crawford's injury......Well 7/19 and even 2 have been regressing prior to this year, and Saad got paid and happy and his 200 ft game is nothing to mirrors the kid who left for Columbus following the 2015 season.

--This team looks lifeless. Yes, you can point to the young kids and a great year from DeBrincat but we also saw the same with Hartman only to see him take multiple steps backwards before being shipped out to Nashville. Impossible to bank on similar production from younger guys after rookie year. League adjusts.

--This team needs a thorough internal review of management and players in an unbiased fashion. They need a fresh look, and they need to make trades that wont' be popular but needed for the long term viability of this team. Otherwise your window has slammed shut and you won't win or be a contender for another cup with this make up. Instead of rewarding the past, hockey ops needs to start looking at the future and doing what's best for the team. NMC and term to give up both is beyond foolish. It's suicidal and the team now is saddled with Bowman's horrific negioating tactics with agents.

--You have 2 players in your core with a history of concussions. 19/50 can you count on either to return to their previous form? I'm sorry but Forsberg, Berube, and the rest of the crap they have tried out in goal......is alarming how thin this organization is at the position. You aren't even competitive when plugging 1 of those in. All are turds and all should be looked past when filing out your roster next year.

See where this goes, but a standing pat by this team is a slap in the face to the fan base. You need to retool and you need to do it smart. Both mega trades this past summer blew up in Bowman's face......Panarin is almost 40 pts better then Saad and who is Panarin playing with? Murphy is maybe, MAYBE, a 5th d man on a championship caliber club.

The Hawks had a majestic run and I'm grateful for it, but the hard truth remains that this team is rapidly on a down turn and it won't be fixed adding another previous hawk on the last legs of his career this summer.

- SteveRain

Hey Rainman hope you're well sir...some interesting posts as I've caught up with the blog over the past few days here...

some really solid points here regarding Stan Bowman AKA the team cancer...we've seen Bowman's idiocy over the last several seasons - Leddy in 14, the Sharp fiasco in 15 and the subsequent bad moves that were forced because of that deal. Handing Danault to the Habs along with this year's 2nd round pick was just another bad decision in a string of them. Instead of looking forward he locked in aging core, which has repeatedly killed the Hawks chances to add depth and forcing Stan to move key depth pieces and look for miracles (see Tomas Jurco) among others...

But ole Stan really put his stamp on the team this season...as you point out both blew up in Bowman's face.

Trading both Panarin (who as you point out is scoring circles around 20) and of course the boneheaded move for Murphy really were some of his best (read worst) moves yet. That coupled with not having a qualified NHL backup (despite the fact that his starter had missed significant time the past two seasons) and we can see where this team lies. Meanwhile that defense that Stan has assembled wreaks and good news is they're all back for next year. This is probably not the time to point out Bowman's drafting record for defensemen and goalies has been abysmal during his tenure.

Yes retooling on the fly was what was needed, but Bowman blew through that stop sign quite a while ago. And what happens if Crawford can't go? You point out concussions to both 19 and 50. Hard choices will have to be made moving forward but I'd love it if we had anyone but a Bowman making those decisions. Sadly I don't think that's going to happen.
