What dman is recalled?
- jhawk59[

John Hayden was just called up.

So Blackhawks went with 8 d all year.... now have 6 for the rest of the year?

I don't even know anymore.

Late 70's, Sox were in the process of sweeping a 4 game series against the Twins. Sunday game, hot weather, and I'm listening to Harry & Jimmy while painting my house. And some clown climbs up the foul pole. Harry said to Jimmy "if you weren't sitting right next to me I would have thought that was you up there". I almost fell off the ladder laughing.

There will never be another Harry. I think it's more Pat paying homage as Harry was a legend rather than trying to copy him. All inside sports people in Chicago miss him and have more than a few stories about hanging out with him.

I remember Harry with the Cardinals - I went to school down there in the 60s - except for his irrational hatred for Kenny Boyer, he was a terrific straightforward radio announcer - although during the final weeks of the 1964 season, when the Phillies completely fell apart to let the Cards win their first pennant since the 40s, the beers caught up to him after a long season and he got a bit incoherent.

I think his last couple of years with the Cubs were a few too many - the game became an afterthought to the schtick....

Was curious if they really do leave Forsling there remainder of season and AHL playoffs. The team has descent goaltending, a veteran blueline but scoring is sort of "iffy." I could see Rockford making a nice playoff run or bounced early. They have a good coach but first must make playoffs. Btw Justin what is your take on R Norell. Plays each game so i theorize he has been developing alright. He is a defensive dman whom would hope to be a solid third pair type. He is not without offensive ability but he is just average skater, can shoot ok, i think has played both sides. Early on scouting reports compared him to Hjalmarsson.

With only a brew or even two you wouldn't hear half of any story about Harry. Beloved is a great term for him. Don't forget that for most of his career here he didn't have much good to describe about what was happening on the field. I am a Sox fan my whole life, but a couple of the most unjust things I can think of are the fact that Steve Goodman and Harry never got to see the Cubs go to the Series much less win. And Goodman checked out just before the Cubs won the division for the first time. That was brutal.

Jimmy Buffet singing the national anthem before the first playoff game, in tribute to his friend Steve Goodman.

Finally - 30+ years after Goodman’s death - the Lincoln Park Pirates may be on their last legs.

If he sits for one game the rest of the way, both Bowman and Q should be fired immediately. With what Rockford is trying to do now and the Hawks current position (not to mention the reason they sent him down in the first place) this makes zero sense.

It makes a ton of sense in terms of rewarding a young guy who was sent down to work on his game and has been busting his ass. I heard Hayden was still paying rent on a place while he was down and his salary in the minors is about 1/12th what it is when he is playing for the Hawks.

$832,000 vs $70,000 and a chance for a young guy to play in the NHL vs the AHL. Hayden is a good young player who needed to go down and play some minutes. If he doesn't bring it nightly down the stretch to prove he belongs, then I'd hope they bench him a game or two to send a message.

Many on this board wail and whine about how "soft" and small this team...esp since the departure of wingels and bouma.

So now they call up a big forward who definately fits in their plans for next year to get an end of season look and the same whiners will female dog about this.

I agree there has been mismanagement of the dcorp all year with the 8 headed monster.

with many on this board, Q-bow is damned if they do and damned if they don't...

however i think they have run out of call-ups...if a dman goes down...not sure what that means

Would anyone please explain how many call ups are allowed. I cannot imagine how there is a limitation if a team experiences a lot of injuries.

I could be wrong, but I think even with the limit you can still do an emergency call up if you don't meet the minimum requirements for a roster 12 forwards, 6 dmen and 2 goalies. It doesn't help for the minor injury or temporary illness, but if they put anyone on IR I think they can replace the player while they are on IR. Once they activate the replacement I believe they have to send the call up back.

Man, what a really shiit year its been. Really nothing to get excited about.
Bad record, bad play, questionable trades, injuries, core that is passed its prime but still getting top money, coach that seems to no longer inspire etc.

I know we got spoiled so its hard to go back to mediocrity when you've gotten accustomed to being a top team....sucks.

Hopefully the FO can be aggressive and try and do something bold to change this path but I fear it will be a long road back to the top.....sigh.

High draft pick will help, looking forward to the off season, cant come soon enough.

Per Scott Powers...

Hayden is an emergency recall. Hinostroza is off with a family matter.

Should throw big John next to 8+12 and see if their skill sets can complement each other. Speed, size, and playmaking.

He grabbed him and pulled him down backwards as he was skating by. I hope Marchand gets the Karma he deserves very soon. Biggest banana eater in the NHL.

I have said many times if you are scouting the Hawks - just be patient and wait for the huge mistakes. It is PAINFUL to watch!

Why challenge a very iffy / challenge so early in the game, down only 1-0.

Now no challenge left for later on a more important goal.

Just dumb.
