I'm really curious to see what happens, mostly because it doesn't seem like much can happen anytime soon. Even if it could, I don't trust Stan to make it happen.

What exactly was his plan this year?
- Have Panik and Hartman improve on last year's career years
- Put Saad on Toews' LW so Toews will play like he did five years ago
- Put a Blackhawks sweater on Sharp again and he will go back a few years too
- DeBrincat will replace Panarin's scoring
- Assume 2 & 7 also find the fountain of youth
- The AHL blue line will be fine
- No need to replace Hossa or Kruger
- Sign Bouma and Wingels to make the team "hard to play against"
- have a couple of NHL cast-offs compete for the backup goalie position
- if it doesn't work, blame Q

"Need to move Seabrook"and oR Keith and ...."or Toews to change the culture in the room" is i feel a better altered quotation from Enzo which you highlighted regarding your response. Two out of three moved would be the correct moves, just when to do so is the key.

I say to change the culture Queeneville must go too. He is not adaept at managing young players, developing them properly either with his mind games and press boxing. There is a place and time for that, yet Q goes overboard. It is ostensibly in the strict context of doing his best for the team to win every game.

Which is fine. Which is proper. But in this and, likely next season, too being non playoff years, there needs to be more emphasis on developing players. Point out mistakes, then put them back out there.

Now it is judgment call on someone like Kempny. Rick poster pointed out that he has not progressed since day one and even with practice and games limitation there needs to be improvement. He has a two cent brain, same mistakes or bad choices repeatedly. That may be so, Rick, but for all his natural ability and with his toughness, another team is giving him a shot. We shall see how it turns out.

I just feel that hopefully the third pair and depth contingent playing now for us, can gain expereience and some of them would be, indeed, either third pair or depth in two years. I see Arizona winning more, led by a very mobile young but expereinced defense. We can have such a defense PERHAPS If Jokiharju and Forsling work out. But you need to augment with Carlson or someone to replace Keith. You need to compliance buyout Seabrook in two years and, if called for by his performance next year, give him away. Tough to give away, then he sits and you just have to wait for the buyout.

The one last core guy up front you might hold on to is Toews. He still offers some good play, although not consistent and far from the effective player he once was. I would not have any trouble moving him if it was a fantasy league, but real life moving the last of your core is a difficult decision in respect to what he has meant to the team.

Crawford. He has an addiction. I do not know if he really also had a concussion due to some snowmobeeling accident. The Blackhawks are covering it up. Some people in the know just cannot attach their name to this revelation. There are a few who secretly say this but ask their names not be attached. You will hear about it eventually i am sure as it cannot be kept under wrap.

Do you really think anyone on the Bruins is afraid of anyone on the Hawks?

Do you really think any thug like Marchand in the league is intimidated by any other thug on any team in the league?

A big problem with retribution is that it just doesn’t work - any NHL player who can be intimidated winds up in the A or the K very quickly.

I know I'm polishing a turd here given this horrible season, but nice to not only see Anisimov get his 3rd straight 20-goal season with the Hawks but also to see that the Hawks could potentially have six 20-goal scorers this year (realistically just five, though).

- Anisimov joins Kane, DeBrincat, and Schmaltz with 20 or more.
- Toews is at 19 and should get 20 soon.
- Saad sits at 15 and has the potential to 20 again but he's hard pressed to even reach 16 at the rate he's been scoring this season.

Goal scoring could always improve next season but it's not a glaring hole either. The main issue is how they score goals: need more shots from the danger areas and more greasy goals from in close.

Hinostroza and Hayden have the potential to net 15 each in a full season. Doubt it would ever happen, but Hinostroza could possibly get 20 if he played top 6 full time.

Power play looks better with Kane/Toews across from each other like they have been. More options the pk has to respond to and get moving. Gus doing his job at the point.

Agree on some points, But the Bruins also know that the Hawks have nothing to play for except team pride. They also know that there are some players on he Hawks that have the potential to attack Marchand. Apparently some Hawk players did refer to the hit as being dirty. Do you think they would take that chance at this time of the season to have their leading scorer injured in a scrap?
I am guessing that Marchand suddenly feels better before the next Bruins game.

I’m not celebrating - and IMO it IS a glaring hole:

16th in the league in goals scored.

39 out of 69 games failed to get to 3 goals in regulation.

I still think it starts with the D and goalie out. Once they start worrying too much about goal prevention, the offense drys out with it.

Good points. Appreciate the dose of reality.

While I don't think the current personnel is enough to be top 10 in goal scoring next season, I think they can get within the better half of the middle third of the league (i.e. 11th, 12th, 13th, etc) by crashing the net more, scoring greasy goals, and even establishing a more consistent and productive cycle game.

Would also help if Saad rebounds strongly next year. Secondary scoring from the likes of Hinostroza and Hayden would be a plus as well. Lots of ifs and wishful thinking, I know.

That's a good way to put it: offense could always improve but it's not the #1 or #2 priority to address this summer. Blueline first, then goalies.

Matt the ship has sailed regarding this season being Q’s fault, as Q has himself admitted this season is his fault. He has admitted that although “consistency” is his favourite word it was his constant personnel moves that prevented the Hawks from having any. So let’s stop the if only the great Q had different players to work with arguments.

It is interesting that Sullivan in Pittsburgh couldn’t care less who his players are. Lose Letang - doesn’t matter. Have a patchwork poor D - doesn’t matter. Injuries and problems with goalies - doesn’t matter. Underperforming forwards - doesn’t matter. Kessl fighting with Malkin - doesn’t matter. Sullivan just wins 2 Cups in a row anyway, one when he took over the team during the season.

However, as poster chunk argues Q’s poor Hawks are not the same team as last year. We lost Hossa. I was a fan of Hoss too but I was always objective concerning his contributions. He worked hard, played D and chipped in offensively. However, at the end of the day he was not an All-Star scoring 40+ goals, 80+ points and his Cap hit killed the team.

TVR was mentioned. Are you kidding me? TVR was a pilon who never had any idea what to do in the D-zone. He was no contact as well. He was Oesterle before Oesterle was Orsterle.

Panarin - please enough already. He was not a 40, 50 goal scorer. Stop re-writing history as if he was a 2nd Kane - he wasn’t and isn’t. In this trade we got Saad who kills penalties and is a great offensive asset not used properly by Q. Also we got our present #1 goalie. Saad started the year on fire offensively. Q must take responsibility that he ground Saad and the whole team into the ice with his chaotic coaching. However, Saad showed us how good he could be.

“An effective Panik” - priceless. So even if the player is still on the team Q gets a pass if the player if not “effective”. Perfect.

Hartman - ??????. Well he was with the team almost the entire season so this must actually be another “effective Hartman” argument - please.

Hjalmarsson - well it is not as if we received nothing for Hammer. We received the Captain of the USA World Championships’ team in return. That Q treated him like garbage is on Q.

Then there is “An effective Keith and Seabrook” argument. Again please. It was Q and Ulf who ruined Keith this year. Keith has always been a “Rover” his entire career. He requires a stable partner who knows how to play defence. Instead he played almost all of the season with unstable D-Men who were constantly caught out of position. Keith became a babysitter which is exactly the role Seabrook has been forced to play for years now. It is not easy and Seabrook has done it for years. However, again all this chaos is on Q.

Crawford and Darling - see Sullivan. Instead of playing an even tighter defensive game to help out the inexperienced goalies the Hawks continued to play Ulf’s/Q’s reckless offensive pressure System leaving the goalies constantly facing break-always and 2 and 3 on ones, even 2 and 3 on zeros. This is completely 100% on Q.

Then someone else added Campbell, Oduya and Kruger. Well Soupy would admit himself that he didn’t have a great season last season. I wanted him to come back because I thought he’d be better but he believed he was done. Oduya - ?????? He was a total negative. Kruger - ?????? - do a “where is he now” and realize he was already there last year.

So let’s pretend for a moment that Sullivan is the Hawks’ coach this year not Q. Do the Hawks make the play-offs even with the player changes? Yes the Hawks do easily. What about under Gallant? Obviously yes. Q simply does not measure up.

Also remember what I actually posted. I previously said that the Hawks had more than enough talent this year to make the play-offs easily. There were some changes - so what? Every team has them. The Hawks have been coached terribly this year - that is why they are not in the play-offs. Even in successful years I always begged for Q to get out of the way of the players and just let them play. This year he completely refused and along with Ulf the team became a clown show. An embarrassing clown show.

- Z3Hawk

5.3M cap hit killed the team? Really THAT’s the cap hit that’s doing it? Even playing on the 3rd line chipping 25+ goals that contract was not a killer.

Not going to happen with Marchand not in the game.
But anybody who thinks that Marchand had a legitimate reason for staying out of this game is pretty naïve. Anything even remotely borderline by Marchand today would have been met with an mass response by the Hawks who know that they were shamed by their inaction yesterday. Would Cassidy take that chance -his leading scorer on the bottom of a dogpile? Cassidy is smarter than that.
