You should actually try reading the ones you posted. There is nothing in them that says or even hints Kane's play has been effected. Also the time those articles were written were before the season started and 2 games into the season.

Sage or I may not have any evidence Kane isn't pissed about the trade and you don't have anything that says he actually is either.

- HawkintheD

I never brought up the idea that Kane's play was affected. St Louis did. You got the wrong guy.

I found articles that said Kane was 'upset". I can't find any articles that say Kane is no longer upset, can you?

I'm just kinda stunned if it's true that Rutta is getting $2.25 mildo.

Do you have Hossa's money in that math? I ran similar numbers in the last week, and thought we were at about $65m for 18 players...no Hossa. You're saying $69m.

If my math it right, then their offseason looks as follows:
$65m for 18 players. $5m more (5 players at $1m each) to get to full 23 man roster, so $69m. That leaves about $10-11m to spread around for better quality and fit under a $80m cap.

Stan can use that $10m to sign two free agents at $5-6m each. He just spent $1.2m of that money on Rutta.

Show us where Kane still hates that Panarin was traded.

Not that he made a sympathetic comment when the deal went down - show that he now is so pissed that it's affecting his play.

- StLBravesFan

There were lots of interactions between Toews and Panarin that seemed decidedly uncomfortable. Also when the Blues beat out the Hawks Toews looked absolutely devastated (so did Kane) while Panarin partied with Taresenko. Don’t think someone like Toews was upset? Or management?

I’m tired of posting about this because the proof is in the pudding as the Hawks signed Panarin for 6M (same amount as Saad) to trade him. It was likely already arranged. There was no NMC and no NTC. The Hawks could do this because Panarin would be all about the $ - we’ll give you 6M but no NMC or NTC.

After the trade pro-Panarin posters are very selective concerning Kane’s comments. Kane was diplomatic at the Convention - what would you expect him to say? Yes he had some chemistry with Panarin and they apparently spent some time together presumably limited greatly by Panarin’s complete refusal to learn English. Panarin’s view was and is that feeling you should learn English was for suckers like Ovechkin. Regarding the great chemistry this is also over-stated as Panarin had droughts. He wasn't a 40 or 50 goal scorer. Q also broke them up including in the play-offs.

Regarding the English issue I think it was Rutta who immediately took intensive English classes, when signed, as he viewed it as an important issue that he be able to communicate easily with team-mates and others.

After the trade the most telling thing was Kane stated there was absolutely no contact between Panarin and him. The “great friends” didn’t communicate. Panarin made absolutely no effort apparently.

Pro-Panarins you need to deal with the facts that Panarin did not and does not care about the NHL or his team-mates. He is only interested in the money. Once the season is over Panarin cannot get to Russia fast enough. Once in Russia he could not care less about the NHL or his NHL team.

In his career Saad has also hit 30 goals. He is younger. He can play Tenacious D - he kills penalties. He has not had the best of seasons but who has? There have been long stretches where the whole team has seemed beat down. Is Saad a super-hero or warlock? Keith has been very off but Saad is supposed to have been perfect?

There is no “debate” here. Management wanted Panarin out of Chicago and management traded him out of Chicago. What is confusing?

I think he's like Minnie Minosa was - he would know a lot of English when it would suit his purposes.

If Q would have sat him out at the end of last season instead of giving him every opportunity to "earn" his bonuses, I would bet we would have heard a lot of English phrases from him.

Without Hossa you're at $66.5 locked up right now before adding Rutta's contract in.

With Rutta's new deal that bumps you up to $69

QUICK TAKE RE: on Rutta signing.

I don't think we will see: Keith, Seabrook, Murphy, Gustafsson, Rutta, Oesterle, Forsling as the 7 defencemen in October. I still think there are moves to make.

However, I'm really surprised Stan's eagerness to sign Gustafsson and Rutta. These are guys that you could have waited on, make them sweat it out in the off-season a bit because I can almost guarantee they would not be signing for $1.2M and $2.25M respectively.

This is telling me that Bowman has been given the confidence to move forward and "tweak" this team back to greatness. Not sure what the means for Quenneville, but the #1 ranked coach by the NHLPA might on his way out and I wouldn't be surprised if it was on his own accord. His contract aside... he could find a spot for equal or more money the next day.

I'm still confident that moves are coming and a "de Haan", a "J. Moore" or a trade for a potential top-4 D can be brought because this Hawks team cannot honestly go into next year with the same defence and expect a different outcome, especially if they are not sure on the status of Corey Crawford as he can mask a lot of deficiencies in their own end.

Stan sticking around, planning on coming back with the same team and not reshuffling that defence keeps me up a night. It's either that or the newborn...

Let's say Bowman has been given the OK to do whatever he thinks is best. The two he signed have little if any leverage. What have they done to warrant the numbers they received? I get Gus can be buried with little impact on the cap, but this looks like signing guys for the sake of signing them.

The only logic I can think of with this is that they're going to flip Ruutta and or Gustafson at the draft because now they have some (not much) term.

Only problem with this thinking is that most GMs probably look at those deals and say 'yeah I could've had him at less AAV, why on earth did you give him x?'

Stan likely made them less valuable by giving them these deals, unless one of them really sticks out the last handful of games.
