I would be happy at 2 years and you're right too many 6D/7D types. Musical chairs for them next camp?

All three contracts could be moved if need be. Seeing that they're not overly large or long term.

We're trying to create a winning culture in Rockford, so with too many fringe NHL players for a 23 man roster, we're bound to overflow and be stacked at the AHL level, right?

Another one year, $800K-$900K deal would be fine, he can be buried in Rockford easily.

The way Stan is handing out money makes me wonder what he'll resign Hinostroza, Hayden, and Duclair for.

Schmaltz can be re-signed this summer too, among the forwards I would make that my priority. I know Schamltz is a pending RFA in 19/20 but if he has another solid season it will cost that much more to sign him.

Hopefully he lets Duclair walk.

The defense has been horrible this year, especially the 2nd half (after Crow went down - coincidentally or not). A lot of new faces, one player new to North American rinks, new pairings, changing pairings every night, inexperienced players, a lot of new forwards not helping out as much as they should, a new D coach. Fans are quick to say every single Dman now sucks because the team defense sucks. Keith old. Seabs slow. Oesterle chicken. Murphy clumsy. Forsling weak. Rutta you name it. Other GM's do not look at the individual players that way.

Rutta has 19 point in 43 games playing 19 minutes per night generally in the 2nd or 3rd pairing in his first season in the NHL playing on the smaller rink. He was an UFA on a par (or better than)with Kempny who is also a UFA. Wait to see what Kempny signs for. I am thinking about the same or more.

Go to capfriendly and look at Dmen making $2.25 mil or less and their production and their upside (and their warts).

Murphy - Keith
Seabs - Forsling
Rutta - Gus or Dahlstrom or Oesterle (one plays, one in the press box, one in Rockford or is traded)

Not good. But they could be a lot better next year. Ideally they add a top pairing dman and reslot the others.

I am ok with the signing.

Slash away.

Yes, points.

The not being great at defense is probably why his contract is so cheap for a defenseman scoring at a 36 point pace.

- BINGO!

43 games played in the Show - not a very good sample size.

@BHTVeric

The #Blackhawks and Jan Rutta have agreed to terms on a one-year contract extension.

Why is StanBo rushing to sign these bottom pairing D men before the offseason? I don't get it, unless he is sure there are no upgrades available.

- pdx2ord

Yikes. Really?

Bowman must have been given the green light to turn things around... which he has interpreted as... change nothing from this year and expect different results.

Let's hope some GM over values Duclair (RFA) and Jurco (RFA). Maybe they get more than $1.2mil and the Hawks pick up a 3rd round pick. (Yeah I know. Unlikely)

Nothing I grew. Novel thought, 1 yr @ 2.25 might be tempting to a cap cellar dweller team this summer.
- Beaver-Warrior

I'm not a Bowman hater - certainly a Bowman questioner long before the Rutta contract, but....

We keep saying something like that every time he gives out a "what the Hell" contract - signed for the expansion draft, signed to be traded, signed because of this / that / the other....

[quote=Z3Hawk]Please - do some actual analysis. Panarin is older and uni-dimensional and didn’t care at all about his team-mates. I’ll go along with Toews who despised him. Yes let’s give him 6M to cause ongoing dissension. Ovechkin is a “sniper” not Panarin who barely got 30 playing with Kane and may not get 25 this year.
- Savoy[/quo

Show links where Toews despised Panarin or be outed on this board as a liar.

Show us where Kane still hates that Panarin was traded.

Not that he made a sympathetic comment when the deal went down - show that he now is so pissed that it's affecting his play.

This is the first time I have read where somebody thinks the trade is affecting Kane's play.

No - just the opposite - I'm saying that he's a pro who knows that players come and go - it's not affecting his play - you're the one who has said he's pissed off about the trade.

That was on June 30.

A sympathetic comment when the deal happened.

This is not evidence that he is still upset about it - or "pissed off" about it, as I think you have said.

There are many examples available and the articles speak for themselves. You can google them if you like. I am not interested in researching them all at this time. Do you have any evidence that Kane is not pissed off about the trade?

I guess your idea of a 'sympathetic comment' is my idea of an angry reaction based on the way I read the content of these articles.

You should actually try reading the ones you posted. There is nothing in them that says or even hints Kane's play has been effected. Also the time those articles were written were before the season started and 2 games into the season.

Sage or I may not have any evidence Kane isn't pissed about the trade and you don't have anything that says he actually is either.

I'm just kinda stunned if it's true that Rutta is getting $2.25 mildo.
