2 years 2.2-2.5 total value. Not that it matters much. Maybe just signing him to have an extra trade piece.
- Chunk

Or I read the Seattle expansion draft will be along the same lines as the recent Vegas one. Maybe just stockpiling an expansion draft eligible player.

Wow. Just wow. The writing is on the wall folks. Same crap next year with the same people and most likely with Q behind the bench.

Maybe the "plan" is to load up on top draft picks this year and next, to be followed by a strike shortened season again?? Then one last run with "the good old boys" ??

Point is the whole team is so bad, why on earth are you committing money to anything right now? Get into the summer and see what is out there. If it was Schmaltz or DBC fine. Gus?????

Point taken. But unless there's some miraculous return to near greatness by Toews, Keith,Seabs, and Saad; i think this is going to get a lot uglier before it gets better. I'm still of the opinion that we've possibly seen the last of Cory Crawford wearing the Indian head. Those few takes of him on the last road trip before this one were for me a bit frightening. Something just seemed really off with him, and i fear for his overall health going forward. Let alone his hockey career.

Not as good as Eric Gustafson, who still can't believe he gets to play in the NHL. You are such a Good Samaritan granting the childhood wishes of guys who always wanted to play in the NHL, but weren't good enough.....

Hi Stan - I sometimes think that you must hallucinate and see people because you award overpaying contracts as if you are out-bidding other GMs that covet your players. Stanbo nobody else is there - stop bidding against yourself.

A person with concussion issues - past history - anything having anything to do with a concussion - does not need to be fighting and getting someone else's fists to his head - whether it's Kessler of Probert or Sonny Liston or you or me.

Not a good idea.

Fighting Kessler may have been a display of frustration - it was NOT a display of leadership.

And if you think it was - then how do you categorize the Hawks' players reaction to it after the fight- 2 goals against and shoddy play for 30 of the remaining 40 minutes of the game.

- StLBravesFan

If a person with a history of concussions is playing pro hockey, then they're already at risk for getting another one.
What I saw in the game was the Hawks captain trying to jump start his team and they did NOT respond. Can't fault JT for trying. And yes, it was frustration. It always is in those situations.

I fall clearly onto the side of this being an idiotic, needless fight. Wanna lead or jump-start the team? Get your body in peak game shape not weakling shape or how about make a play.

Well maybe next year. It's just bad hockey on all fronts. I don't even want my kids watching this team!

But when you have almost 8+ years Keith, Seabrook and Hjalmarsson as top 3 and there was Campbell and Oduya who completed those guys and there wasn´t that much need of top 4 D´man. He did bring Nick Leddy who never was top 4 for Hawks but would be now. Top 4 D´men won´t grow on trees.

Stan went and got Forsling for Clendening, he did sign Gustafsson, Kempny and Rutta. He has drafted Jokiharju, Snuggerud, Krys, Mitchell and so on. Sure no one has pan out (yet) of them but at least Stan has tried. Don´t know who´s to blame; the players, coach or Stan? Maybe all of them..Stan has made mistakes for sure but I think you are a little too harsh on him.

- MjulQvist

too harsh on stan? please. i am just talking about the defense.

what about the contracts? seabrook's contract is very possibly the worst ever in the history of the nhl. what about the 60+ point scorer terravainen has turned into and losing him in controllable years because of bickell's contract? what about the five years he gave anisimov before ever seeing if he could keep up with and help kane or win a faceoff. what about the cost certainty of the contract for a guy who can't play (murphy) that cost hjalmarsson? how would you feel if seabrook, anisimov, and murphy disappeared into thin air and $15 million of cap space took their place? would anyone be upset about that?

what about holding on to sharp and leddy, when everyone knew he had to trade them, until the last possible moment and getting trashed in those trades? forsling for clendening was okay, although forsling hasn't shown he can play in the nhl yet and clendening was one of bowman's guys. he traded big suspect prospect for smaller suspect prospect. what about danault and a #2 for total garbage that quenneville would not dress every night in the one round and done playoffs? what about a player who was perfect in every way for the way the hawks defense plays in hjalmarsson for a third pairing dman in murphy who is making just south of $4 million for the next god knows how many years? he is making more than you pay the 5th and 6th dmen together and he is slow and can't keep up in today's nhl. and that slug anisimov? another slow footed bum with terrible hands who scores 90% of his goals within six feet of the crease. de brincat, a rookie who has played most of the season with third and fourth line players, has more goals than anisimov who has played most of the season with a generational talent in kane and schmaltz. anisimov is horrid for today's nhl.

STAN BOWMAN IS A LOSER. L! O! S! E! R! whatever the level of excellence this team still has is embodied in toews, kane, keith, and crawford. they were all drafted in the tallon years. hajalmarsson should still be in that group and unfortunately seabrook still is because of the worst contract in the history of hockey authored by stan the man. LOSER. LOSER. LOSER. that is what stan bowman is.

I never quite understood this: if someone is fighting, someone on the other team is ALSO fighting - and jump starting his team.

And the Ducks went on to score two in a row, looks like Toews forgot to connect the jumper cables to the lifeless team

Heard that part of the reason Dylan Sikura hasn't signed yet is because he is waiting to see how things play out with this team and management. If Q goes it's very likely he will test FA

yes it was a display of leadership. Sometimes your team wins sometimes they don't after a fight. I blame them losing the game after the fight because there not that good and were on a back to back.

If he signs now - he loses the rest of his college eligibility, doesn't he?

Meaning his very good Northeastern team loses its best (?) skater just before the tournament, no?

I doubt any quality player would do that.

No, the trick is not fighting but being "the best team captain in sports" and leading your team in the room and on the ice, and making the players around you better.

Which he certain has not been able to do this year at all.

I would guess - but only guess - that the TV networks' ratings analysts would tend to disagree with you.

I don't every sport should be growing because the pop. grows. Hockey was tied with basketball for the 3rd biggest sport in na. Now it's football basketball baseball and hockey is way down the lists. No one around me follows hockey anymore. And back where the majority of my family lives Chicago northern wis they barely watch anymore to.

You don't always have to win look at Talbot vs Carrillo or konroyd vs churla. It's about stepping up being a good teammate.

That's part of what a captain has to do on the ice from time to time. He's clearly failed at all the other aspects. Why fault him for trying with his fists?

It's ok, in all likelihood he probably doesn't have that it factor the team needs anyways. What really confuses me is how Duclair has a 20 goal season in the NHL when he skates just like Jurco.

Because the season is lost and everybody knows it.

It rings really hollow and is incredibly unnecessary at this point.
