Am I wrong?

Given that of the once-dominant “core”, only Kane can be counted on to play at a high level going forward, and only Schmaltz and AdB of the young players have shown a real championship compete level - I fear there isn’t a quick fix for next year.

I agree, when Vinny's goal went in and I cheered, I thought should I be cheering? Said (frank) it, yeah I know I said I was out but watching them now is like driving by a car accident I really shouldn't look but I just can't help myself.

Fighting for example, not tolerated in any other sport. Immediate ejection.

The so called helmets in the NHL, compare it to its counterpart in football. Significantly smaller and less protective from where i sit. Not to mention the hap-hazard manner that most players wear them.
Collisions involving head shots seemingly several times/game. How many times has Crawford been run, and is anyone certain he's coming back? And i mean ever.

The skill of the game could really come though if they simply enforced all the rules as written. i sometimes think someone's going to die on the ice before anything is finally done about all of this.

fighting makes hockey unique. It results on less then 5 percent of concussions just that's what morons always call to ban when talking about concussions. What they need to do is have better monitoring of players once they have a concussion and make sure they don't come back to early. The last two years of hockey have been the worst if you play a physical sport like rugby football hockey you know the risks and live with the consequences it's on you. Don't blame everyone else if you have 10 concussions and don't know when to quit that's on you.

What they need to do is have better monitoring of players once they have a concussion and make sure they don't come back to early. If nothing else, winning provides hope for next season. Also, there are quite a few young players on this team and it can't be good for them to get accustomed to losing all the time.

I am with you...losing attitude and games becomes habitual...if they were tanking no way they come back in the third in this game...glad to see it...

The kings gave that game away the officials were awful to especially the doughty calls. Embarrassing response to Phaneuf riding Highmore into the boards. Keith and Murphy ask him to please stop. I would love playing against this hawks team Murphy is the only guy who might hit you the rest of the time you can skate with your head down wack at the goalie without consequence and not have to clear your crease because no one on the hawks are going to crash the net hard. If it wasn't for quick weak goals we would loss and 6 hits all game come on.

Cheap head shots will not leave the game unless 2 things happen. One. 5 minute penalty for hitting a DEFENCELESS player including hits from behind or any other direction. You can’t simply ruin someone’s life because someone is caught with his head down. You can’t simply destroy another human being’s brain. Two. The Instigator penalty is the dumbest penalty ever created. Hard to sacrifice a PP in many games. It is not often that circumstances are perfect for immediate retribution.

DeBrincat actually chased him and ended up getting a penalty himself. Incredible. Carter has always been a complete A-Hole and he is going to get absolutely destroyed eventually. As a poster said earlier, it is difficult watching them win now when they really need to lose to benefit their future. But as you point out, these are tremendously proud athletes, and there are times when this pride overcomes the mediocrity they have shown throughout the year.

No way. Kane is the franchise. Ekblad looked like a D-man that the Panthers could build around, but concussions have flipped the script. You know what you have with Kane, you don't with an 18 year old.
