You have to be clear, who are we considering as the Hawks 3rd pairš¤£ - BetweenTheDots
Both pairs that Keith isn't playing on. Hawks went from having 3 Top pair Dman to having a single Top 4 Dman on the roster. |

My bad. For tonight, let's call it the pair that has been on the ice for these three goals. |

So would you give Evander a big FA contract? probably take 7X7 I'm guessing with the cap going up like it is. the most of the FA other then Carlson are to old for long term deals we already have already have aging LT deals. FL won, need ED to win. - kmw4631
I think many teams are leery about EKane. There was a time when he looked like he might be a 40g 40a player with 100+ penalty minutes. He is going to ask for very big money and he is not worth it. It is interesting that Buffalo coveted him but then didnāt want him.

Not clear whether or not he wanted to be there, either.

On the plus side, Carolina and Florida winning tonight gives the 'Hawks a little bit of breathing room, and the Oilers are tied with the Preds late in the 3rd. |

Evander Kane is an excellent Power Forward. Seabrook definitely felt that hit and he started the rush for the tying goal. - EnzoD
Yep.....he's young, fast, and tough. Definitely would have never fit in here with Q's marshmallow, no check league.

I don't think Murphy's foot speed will ever allow him to be a good Top
4 Dman. He won't hurt you as a 3rd pair guy, but man I wish Ron Francis had wanted Hjalmarsson and Hawks could've gotten Slavin. Murphy and an AHLer Stan did trade-backs with just doesn't feel like nearly enough for Hammer.
Kane having a really good game, Toews/Saad are complete non-factors (again), and Dahlstrom/Gustafson just plain bad. |

So comical.
Remember when the 'Hawks used to produce odd-man rushes in bunches?
Those were the days... |

They're starting to look like the Keystone Cops. i think next year could be as bad or worse. With 2019 looming around the corner(and it's ramifications),i can't do anything but agree with the earlier post that said just continue to dump salary as much as possible. Absolutely do not take on any big vet contracts. We have enough bad ones of our own. |

I like the exchange between Pat and Eddie re no physical presence among the forwards with Bouma, Wingels, and Hartman gone. And defencemen on opposing teams looking at the lineup and thinking they have time to pick up pucks on the end boards because they will not see any glass that night. How true --soft, soft! |

This is a DISGRACE !! I can't stand the Q notes that he writes in his little black book after every goal. I wonder what he writes ????? Keith Great, Seabrook ok, Toews consistent, Kane competing ????? God make it stop.

Here is a novel idea. Could our Dmen try playing fricking defense? Forget joining the rush. Forget pinching. Start playing fricking defense.
Dahlstrom, Gus, Oesterle they think they are forwards. The puck is loose in our own zone or in center ice and they are headed up ice. What the heck kind of d is that.
I am not sure if it is Ulfie's system or what. But when one dman is being challenged for the puck in the corner our other dman is headed up the ice. What the frick is that.
I feel sorry for Keith. He is playing D by himself half of the night.
I also feel sorry for Berube. It is like the Hawks are playing shorthanded or with only 1 defender in their own zone.
It is embarrassing.
You can blame this on Q or Ulfie or the Dmen. I am not sure.
This looks a lot like the Oilers in the past few years. They just try to score goals and forget everything else. Some nights they get lucky and put a few goals on the board early and win the game. But most nights they just pick pucks out of the back of their net. |
