Just sayin'... I find almost nothing interesting in that chart. If I had asked you to draw that chart before you saw it, would your drawn chart have differed from this one by much? Maybe the 12% undrafted is a little interesting, I'd have probably predicted that no higher than a 7th round pick. I'm guessing that is higher because of foreign players. - Cmonalready
Be careful when moving between percentages and raw numbers. The universe for undrafted free agents approaches infinity, the pool for each round is 30 (now 31) per year. That’s why the free agent % is higher than each of the lower rounds. |

With Cat, yes he has a great shot but so did Pirri. on a truly great team I don't think a one dimensional player is a top 6. I look at him as a scoring 3rd line player. Hino Energy 3rd or 4th line and hayden as a 4th line grinder. Top 6 IMO means you need more then one elite skill. if CAT gets a lot stronger maybe. - kmw4631
Q has commented several times that he was impressed with DeBrincat's overall game, not just his offense. He's still a rookie and he's learning, but he's not a one-dimensional forward. |

Blackhawks power play units
1: Seabrook, Schmaltz, Hinostroza, Kane & Anisimov
2: Keith, Toews, Saad, DeBrincat & Duclair
Blackhawks lines
Saad-Toews-Hinostroza
Jurco-Anisimov-Kane
DeBrincat-Schmaltz-Highmore
Sharp-Kampf-Duclair
Well at least the PP will stay consistent. Can we please put an actual shooter on PP1? Come to think of it, do we have one? ADB?
I like Hino back o nthat top line, and it will be interesting to see how Highmore does if these lines remain for the game. - Chunk
Might as well see what the kids can do. It's interesting that Jurco is getting more of an opportunity than Duclair. That DeBrincat/Schmaltz/Highmore line could be something good. Hopefully Hayden gets called up soon and slots into the top 9.

You should have also posted all of the bodychecks Ryan Reaves threw in the 3rd period of that game last night. The sum total was higher than the total for all the Hawks forwards this entire season. - RickJ
And the penalties he took. |

Why the HELL are these two still in the lineup with Hayden still languishing in the AHL? I seriously think Q has lost his mind at this point.

RE: Hartman and Wingels
Honestly, these guys just joined new teams, those teams gunning to contend for a cup this year. After Wingels and Hartman dealt with the deadline day shock of being traded, their emotions would have shifted to prepping for the playoff grind.
No one should be surprised they came out and had really strong games. Both will immediately want to show their new teammates that they will go through a wall for them.
I wouldn't base Bowman's trades on 1-game each for these guys. We'll have to wait to see how it plays out in the long-term. - Justin Lowe
Meh. Wingels was always a stopgap type and getting something for him is what it is. No matter he plays he is going to give the same thing every night. An honest effort no matter the situation he is put in.
The Hartman trade is nothing more than complete foolishness. They traded him with the hope they can find a NHL player in the same spot that Hartman was drafted. In 5 years. The Swede is an ego play for Bowman. IMO. He lost out on the guy last season. The other draft picks are just there to make it appear that they got something. |

Hartman What team gives up on a young cost controlled player?
I'm sure you will get a great player with the 30th pick. Preds did last year.
It's fun to have nothing to look forward to other than the draft, right? - VopatsRash
One that doesn't have a brain .You will change your tune when he takes a stupid penalty . I think taken a season off of the playoffs probable not bad .It probable tiring after winning a few Stanely cups . You know how that's don't you !!!! |

I think the trade happened bc Hartman is a RFA and given the rumblings of his discontent with the coaching staff I highly highly doubt he was going to resign. The Hawks got a much bigger return then they would've gotten from the RFA compensation.
If Hartman is under contract for 2 more years I don't think this happens. People need to stop complaining about the trade so much. Even if Hartman excels the rest of the year with the Preds he wasn't going to stay here.
Lets not forget that he had a great opportunity to start the year on Kane's line and disappeared for the most part. That is why he got demoted to a lower line. He also was a complete non-factor when big boy hockey started last spring. He's a nice player with some skill that has an edge at times. He's not a franchise changer and he is not any kind of special player.
I don't even think this trade makes the Hawks any worse for this season tankathon. - bhawks2241
He is a RFA. He has two options. Sign or sit out. |

I'm no expert, but I thought the Hawks would be in the same situation every summer until Hossa's contract expired.
I wonder if Stan will use the 1st round pick acquired from Nashville to move Hossa's contract (i.e. to Ottawa)? - DarthKane
That would be foolish. Its a waste of assets. Hossa's contract isn't hindering the Hawks. And at this point, having Hossa's cap hit would be doing a huge favor for Cheapnyk. |

Sikura isn't a top 6 or even 12 yet in the NHL...so let's pump the breaks on plugging him in any role
#drewleblanc - PatShart
Difference being Sikura was actually drafted and Leblanc wasn't. Sikura has made a steady progression in NCAA career and has put up big numbers the last two seasons.
Doesn't mean he is a sure thing by any means but he has a bit more of a pedigree than LeBlanc. Oh and Sikura can actually skate. LeBLanc? not so much. |

At least one of them was not a penalty. Refs were trying to prevent a war from breaking out. |

Patrick Sharp made a nice career out of it.
And a player that can rip off a shot like he can, gets to the soft areas and plays smart hockey generally speaking is pretty special.
The bold is completely wrong and preposterous analysis. |

Which is why the Stars are a playoff team. Stephen Johns would be the best Right Shooting Defense-man on the Hawks today. Do you disagree with that? - EnzoD
Tough to say when he isn't playing here, but he'd be on the roster. If Seabrook gets his act together he is still better than Johns IMO. To me, Johns is a Connor Murphy with a better point shot and maybe a little more sand paper. |

He was on a panel on either TSN or SportNet during TDL day. Can't remember which one because I was flipping back and forth. Anyway I would forget he was on at times because he was not involved except for a couple of times when he mumbled a few lines incoherently. I just cannot visualize him hollering out instructions on the practice ice. |

I'm not certain about that. If the Hawks need to be cap compliant on day 1 each season before putting Hossa back on LTIR then his contract is a hindrance. Sure. mid-season the Hawks have $5+ million in cap space but they can't sign any free agents until the season starts. None of the quality UFAs will wait that long. That means a mid-season trade for a pending UFA, which will likely cost picks and prospects anyway.
If the Hawks can trade Nashville's first and Hossa to Ottawa and have the ability to sign Tavares that would be pretty amazing (I'm reaching a bit here but you get my point). |
