I don't blame the Jackets for trying, but AA is worth far more than a 3rd round pick at 50% retained. I don't think AA's value is as high some believe, but it's more than that. I'd take a solid 3C who plays more of a defensive role and would hopefully be more cost effective.

Of course it would be nice if Stan could get a good return for AA but I believe the 2 most important issues are his high yearly salary and remaining term - get rid of this contract - now. AA had more value last summer and Stan missed this window. Addition by subtraction is what Stan should be looking at now. If AA is not moved for best deal now it is not going to get better.

Anyone else feel this is an overvalue of Hartman? I like the guy and he had a good rookie season but, he's been pretty much a non-factor most of this season and I feel this is his normal rather then what he did last season. I know it's a negotiation but, come on.

Starting point for negotiation. Don’t ask, don’t get.

AA at 50 percent would be a bargain. We do not need to be helping other teams out like that. No one did us favours like that without a healthy price tag attached.

I am not sure which is worse, the penalty Hartman took and his apparent inability to learn from his mistakes, or Q messing with Hartman's head by repeatedly benching him. Neither situation is good.

Not sure ‘twas Hartman’s head he was messing with if you know what I mean!

I thought that TDL's ended at Noon Eastern but I have been seeing 3 PM Eastern. When did this change? This would mean that unclaimed waivers from yesterday could be traded after 12PM today.
So a team putting out a Joel Ward and not having him claimed could still trade him after 12 Noon to gain cap space. This could work for us.

Winnipeg has had issues finding a C so far. Have they had any interest in Anisimov? The Jets are a common trade partner for SB...

That laughable offer of only a third AND asking for max retention is reason enough to tell jarmo to go fist himself and never pick up the phone again from him. There's trying to fleece someone and then there's wasting people's time with insulting offers. This was the latter

Especially after the nice favour we gave them (Panarin).

I have a funny feeling that Stan Bowman, will blow a fart, and take a nap today, instead of taking care of business and putting this team in position to potentially pick a top five pick, this summer, even if it means a painful decision! If he does nothing, then Blackhawk fans should be emailing John McDonough and the other Blackhawk hierarchy calling for his head Especially with the out rages prices for these season tickets, that is due very shortly!

I will be interested to see who they deal Jack Johnson for? Will it be for another defenceman? A Centre?

I know they want to trade him so they don't lose him for nothing, but seems odd to get rid of a veteran top 4 defenceman heading into a playoff run.

Teams do not traditionally deal young roster players at the TDL. If Hartman is to be moved, it has to be in a hockey trade which can occur at any time.

The return on him would be high right now. Maybe they want to take advantage of that because although they probably will reach the playoffs, I do not see them advancing beyond the first round.

I think it’s more likely that other GMs are asking for him.

It still is bad leadership and coaching if Q is using Hartman to get back at Stan. Hartman is the one who pays the price...

Agreed here, he's worth a 2nd round pick with no salary retained, at the very least.

He's not. Other GMs are going after him, probably because they think his value is low because Q benches him now and then.

I, for one, would be happy if he did nothing major (save for moving our UFA's who have little value). These rumoured deals involving Hartman and Anisimov, if accurate, could easily backfire on us. Plus we are left needing to replace them -and with what?

Yes.

However, Hartman has good upside despite what he has done this year. As others have said, he needs a clearly defined role to really thrive.

He's essentially Andrew Shaw with a little more skill, younger, and lower cap hit on pending RFA.

It is interesting to get perspective from other teams' fans regarding Hartman. I visited other blog sites last night. Fans from other teams also could not believe that he was supposedly available and I could not believe what they were willing to offer for him.
Fans typically overvalue their players. A lot of Hawks fans do not fit this mold.

Regarding Hartman, if the asking price is true it can't be real but at the same time, you don't want him starting at what he actually would expect to get. Start high and then negotiate down if necessary
