Like him better than Hartman anyway and have been on his band wagon for a couple years now. Hated he got sent down...seemed our team got way softer, less net presence when that happened. - kwolf68
Totally agree. Big fan of his.
He's way more consistent with physicality, board play and skill than Hartman has been.

So the team limit is 1 player who is physical and can chip in goals? Got it. I really like Hayden too, but this is such an ironic trade considering April 2017 and the supposed goal to "toughen up" the Hawks this past summer.

Can someone please explain to me how trading a utility forward who was in and out of the lineup has any bearing on what the Hawks will do with their head coach after the season is over?
I get that Hartman was a former 1st round pick and he brought some traits that are short in our lineup, but looking at what they bring to the team, would you rather have Hinostroza or Hartman? Hinostroza busts his rear all over the ice, works corners, doesn't back down, puts up points and has brought the same intensity to every line he has been on. I'm not saying Hartman is any means, but right now, he is the lesser of the two.
Speaks volume to Stan's work with Hartman return. - Justin Lowe
I know it.
I am losing my mind listening to these idiots on NHL Network talking about how hard it was to give up a 1st, prospect for Kane...but when Blackhawks got that for a guy on pace for 12 goals this year they bashed Chicago and talked about what a coup it was for Nashville.

If this Ejdsell guy makes the Hawks next year, this is a big time win for the Hawks. If Ejdsell turns out to be a Dennis Rasmussen type of player, then it's just a #TANK move. Either way, given how the situation with Q + Hartman boiled over last game, this shouldn't be too surprising. IF this late 1st allows the Hawks to trade up and draft Tzchuck, I think all of us will be ecstatic. - EnzoD
Are you referring to the benching? Was there anything more that happened between them?

I think the idea is that IF the team was planning to move on from Q and IF the issue with Hartman was primarily a disconnect between he and Q, then wouldn't you want to see what a new coach might do with him given his potential upside as evidenced last year?

Fellas on the blog today are talking about Hartman like he was some kind of Eric Lindros physical presence and goal scorer.

Yep. He got benched for 2+ periods last game.....not a single shift after that penalty. That seemed to be the final straw....and Nashville willing to pay a premium. It's a good return, but man Nashville is stacked now with the cap structure to keep pretty much everyone for the next few years.....it's going to be a long rebuild here folks.

I guess that depends on what they meant when they said they wanted to be "harder to play against". Saad is supposed to be the same thing. Wingels is bringing what Hartman is supposed to be right now. Again, not really disagreeing with your point, but Hartman wasn't really providing what he was "supposed to".

Preds will never win it.
Added PK thinking it would get them over the hump. It didn't.
Added Turris, brought a dude out of retirement and traded for Hartman.

Yup Nashville stacked at forward and the blue line looking like favorites to come out of West
I've been thinking it is a long rebuild coming for the Hawks as well.
But many here viewed Shaw and Hartman as comparable players - Slofire94
not even close...shaw earned Q's praises with his gritty in your face play; great net presence guy..totally different skill set; shaw was a 5th rounder and hartman was a number 1
