what I rememberer reading about him is that he was confused about this role. If the Preds give him some things to focus on, he might do well. - matt_ahrens
this has been my point in previous posts; Q has been running him and other guys up and down the line-up the last 2 years; messing around with the young guys; even had hartman at center; that he is not... |

I just don't buy into the confusion crap. Is it more he did not like his bottom 6 role? - riozzo
What is he 23, playing in the same system? Maybe the light comes on eventually, Hawks obviously done |

It will be interesting to see how Hartman fairs in Slashville. If he is someone that p.o's the coaching staff and upper mgmt, he might not last too long. The Preds are in their window.....you always hope to add chemistry and character at the TDL....maybe SB knows what he was doing..... |

What’s solid about it? They got a 1st that’s basically a 2nd, a giant 22 year old Swede who isn’t even good enough To play in the Swedish Elite League and has never even sniffed North American Hockey. Plus they exchanged a 5th for a 4th, which is basically a wash, and not worth talking about.
To sum up, they got a guy who will likely never play a single meaningful game in NA and a late 1st rounder for a young, versatile, gritty, NHL caliber player.
Time for stan and Q to fade into the sunset if you ask me. - Ogilthorpe2
Everyone hoped Hartman would become Shaw 2.0.
He didn't, and he won't. Plays too recklessly and is bottom six grit at best. To get a first round pick in exchange for him is value enough in my book, even if only for trade value. The rest is gravy if anything comes of it.

Absolutely! Changes in scenery can be great for both parties. Loved the effort and creativity on the ice. Did not appreciate what Hartman had going between the ears at times but still a young guy with potential |

I think it's a fair deal, but again I wouldn't judge the deal in isolation. How does Ejdsell pan out? Does Stan use the extra first round pick to move up. Like I said, I would have preferred to keep Hartman but this isn't a bad deal. - DarthKane
He’s already 22 and not even playing in a top European league....he doesn’t pan into anything. He’s a nothing....a nobody.
We traded a former 30th overall pick (who can help this team now) for what will likely be the 31st overall pick (who likely won’t be of any help for at least 2 years)
It’s a bad deal because Hartman will likely flourish under a coach who doesn’t suffer from chronic headuptheassitis, and Edjsell will never play in the NHL |

Agreed on Hartman. If the draft is as deep as some are saying the first round pick is a good return. |

Yes it will be funny next year at this time when those supporting this deal will be bashing Bowman in typical fashion for this deal when it ends up as a whole lot of nothing while Hartman is doing well in Nashville on a team friendly contract. |

Hartman trade: I always picture myself as a GM (as I am sure is true across this board). I'm giggling trying to figure out how a piece like this 4th for 5th rounders gets into a deal like this. Given where the Preds and Hawks sit in the standings, I think those picks will be within about 10 picks of one another. That seems a miniscule consideration.
Sort of like me sitting in the car dealership negotiating a $10,000 purchase, and pulling some of the loose change out of my pocket to close the deal at $10,000.82 |

There are reasons Nashville signed him last May our of Europe and likely the Hawks scouts had something to say about him too. You may be absolutely right, but two NHL clubs have seen value in him, so might be a bit much to say that he will never play in the NHL. |

that is possible...i think this trade has more upside for the preds than the hawks; but hartman had to go...and its not a bad or though unknown return; stanbow could package this 1st rounder in a post season trade... |

It could be that the Hawks scouts see Ejdsell as a potential AA replacement as EnzoD has speculated earlier in the thread. Maybe AA still on the move? I think in the end, if the Hawks don't feel Hartman is a long term part of the team, then more draft picks is better in terms of rebuilding faster.
Edit: I shouldn't really say replacement, but speculated he is similar to AA. Don't mean to imply extra meaning on EnzoD's post that he didn't intend. - breadbag
If this Ejdsell guy makes the Hawks next year, this is a big time win for the Hawks. If Ejdsell turns out to be a Dennis Rasmussen type of player, then it's just a #TANK move. Either way, given how the situation with Q + Hartman boiled over last game, this shouldn't be too surprising. IF this late 1st allows the Hawks to trade up and draft Tzchuck, I think all of us will be ecstatic. |

I hate to say that you might turn out correct with that assessment. So nowcStan better be more careful whom he drafts will not be difficult to coach
Btw what ever happened to the promising big entetf in Florida - not producing this year Bjugstad 11 goals 41 pts in 59 gp whom is going for Pacioretty. Is Bjuugstad still a tough son because Montreal always looki g for more muscle and size. |

Yeah dude! That'd be so sick! I really hope he hurts one of our guys - BlazinMike
Don’t want him to hurt anybody!! Just play hard against the Hawks and throw a couple of good solid body checks! I am upset they traded a guy that had some of those intangibles we are soft as putty! |

So I'm confused. According to elite prospects, Ejdsell spent the entire season in Sweden's top league...
What, are we mad that he didn't play in the KHL?

Either way, Ejdsell wasn't the point of the deal. |

Honestly we'd be lucky if Ejdsell ever makes the team. Yes his highlights looked good but he's in the second league in Sweden, not the SEL. We'll be lucky if he's a Kampf, let alone an Anisimov. |

Yeah, I don't get what he means by not in the top league, which he was absolutely in this season. |
