These AA rumours to Columbus irritate because I am still ticked about the Panarin trade. If Bowman makes a deal with Columbus, it better be a damn good one. Columbus owes us one.
- 67hawks

We won the Saad - Panarin trade so why would you be tickled? Columbus even threw in our #1 goalie.

I really do not like Oesterle as a top pairing dman.
#1 his offense is way overrated. He has 3 goals and 8 assists in 25 games. Rutta has 6 goals and 13 assists in 27 games.
#2 he is not physical, does not take the body, does not block shots, and does not clear our crease.
#3 he heads up ice too soon and then lingers there or floats there way too long.
He is like a dman that does not like playing defense.
# 4 he roams all over the defensive zone.

We really need a right handed top pairing dman, that can play physical, clear the crease, make the outlet pass, that can let Keith wheel a little more. (Like Seabs from 3 years ago.) Once you do that the other dmen can slot down appropriately.

In the meantime why not let Rutta and Keith play in the top pairing. The 2nd pairing could be Seabs and Oesterle (playing on his natural left side). The 3rd pairing could be Murphy (playing on his natural right side) with Gus, Dahlstrom or Forsling. Let Rutta and Keith, and Seabs and Murphy (yes his off side, but Hammer used to play both sides during the course of a game too) plays as pairs on the PK.

- -Doh-

Most of Oesterle's offensive success seems to have occurred over a span of 5-6 games and he has been invisible since. The best thing he has going for him is a low cap number.

[If Stan gets fleeced at this deadline, he should immediately be fired.

Seriously though in that rumored deal to the Flyers that JJ's been mentioning apparently Bowman still wants the Flyers to send the Hawks Kimo Timmonen back in any deal. Hextall's told him twice he's retired, but Stan is having none of it.

Stan has apparently also called Marc Bergevin and told him he'll give him Danault and a 2nd for whatever crap he has...Bergevin had to explain to Stan he already did. But Bergevin told Stan he there's a couple guys he could still call...this guy Jim Nill he's in Dallas and this other guy in Ohio I know...

Hey Stan while I've got you on the phone you wouldn't be interested in a backup goalie for this season ...no our guy Crawford never gets hurt...never out of the lineup...thanks though...

Yea Hartman for Cole makes no sense at all.
- kwolf68

Hartman is young, a former First Rounder with both talent and grit ( which Hawks lack ). Can we stop hypothetically trading him - especially for little or nothing in return.

A broken clock is even right twice a day...that's better than Bowman's done starting with the Leddy move in 14...pathetic

I agree with the criticisms of SB. What is challenging is this is a prime time to get value at a TDL and the Hawks brass seems to be such a bureaucratic web of poo that they will need the offseason to reset their mission statement. ONE GOAL will be "back to the playoffs....soon.....we hope?...."

By my math, they've won at least one Cup since '14, so I think there's a pretty good chance you're wrong.

What if he trades Seabrook+++ for Erik Karlsson??
- EnzoD

Stan has orders to get Karlsson. He keeps whining about not having the players or the cap space to make it happen. I suggested that he figure it out.

Ha! For sure. Throwing a guy's rights in on a trade was a thing for some and then goofed on by others (not me mind you). Just like that whole getting Vermette wasn't a good trade business. Sarcasm, love it! Nicely played.
- HawkintheD

OK I’ll be more direct - that suggested trade was absolutely ludicrous. Please - both Jones and Jenner for AA and Sikura, who may not be an effective NHL player. I’m being kind by calling it just “absolutely ludicrous”.

The fact that the Hawks won the Cup after the Vermette trade doesn’t change the fact that we over-paid with our First Round pick and a player for someone not worth it. Q agreed with me too as he saw Vermette as useless much of the time. Remember Q sat him out, that is how valuable he was to Q. Hawks could have covered what he did internally or with another traded for player obtained for less. There was no big market for him after the season, when he was a FA and there was absolutely no consideration of making room for him on the Hawks the following season. So let’s just stop viewing the Vermette trade for more than it was. Bowman overpaid - plain and simple.

I suppose the trade for Timmo was also great because the Hawks also won the Cup after the trade, although Timmo needed a walker to play.

So if they could have gotten vermette for less, what was the exact lower deal that would have gotten him, since you are 100% certain they could have?

Just putting dots together.

The Jets had scouts at the game last night. They have been known to be interested in Brassard, and they got sniped by Pittsburgh with an assist from Vegas. Sounds like they want a center.

Would they be scouting Anisimov? The Jets and Hawks have hooked up in the past.

I love the value of picks who may/may not ever sniff the NHL

What pick did that idiot bowman draft Panarin with? Or TVR? Or Rutta....Kempny? Darling?

The more picks you have (not the fewer) the better chance you have of replenishing the base talent in the organization. Just because most picks don't pan out or a Free Agent was signed from over seas is just not a credible argument to discount unwise management of resources.

If Stan can pull a haul of Murray and Sedlak or Jenner for AA then that's a job well done, even if he adds another minor piece.

Both Jenner and Sedlak win draws and are tough to play against, and Murray a stabilizing defender with upside that this team needs, (albeit no all star). Murray would play well with Keith.

Yep, and by Q sitting Vermette is the reason we won the cup he finally became defensively responsible.

They only became#2's because the Hawks won the cup

Ok, I'll also be direct since you're pretty much telling me you can't identify sarcasm without the aid of red font, or a winking emoji, or a laughing emoji or something to tip you off.

Yes my trade proposal was pure sarcasm. I thought you got it with your post but I guess not. Maybe I need to consult Darth.

You can not like the Vermette deal if you like, but that pretty much makes you about the only one who doesn't. Hell even the people who bash Bowman ad nauseam on this board give him grudging praise for that one.

Yes the Kimmo trade was bad, I didn't like it. But like I mentioned earlier I didn't let it prevent me from enjoying Cup # 3 in my lifetime.

Read about the Nashville gm who was astute enough to do smart things because he didn't have a cup winning team that somebody else built simply handed over to him.

Kimonen did come at a high price but I still don’t think it was as bad as most people do.

The conditional fourth-round pick in 2016 became a third-round selection if the Hawks reach the Western Conference finals, a second-round pick if the Hawks reach the Stanley Cup Final and Timonen plays in half of the games.

Before the playoffs he played in 16 games ATOI was 12:00.

He played in 18 playoff games ATOI 8:40. His CORSI during the playoffs was 48.3. Hjalmarsson CORSI was 47.0, Oduya’s was 48.0 granted Kimonen starts were predominantly in the offensive zone. I think his locker room presence also was a lift for the club.

I do not like Wingels on the Toews line indefinitely. But if he is not traded I would keep him there for while to see if they starting finding the back of the net. There is some life in that line now.

I like AA, Schmaltz and Kane. I do not really understand why people want to move AA so badly. The Hawks have no center depth. He is signed on a reasonable contract for his value and production. I am not saying do not trade him. But the return would have to be Hanzal or Brassard like to do the deal.

- -Doh-

They need to use anyone to light a fire under that line. Wingels is the current go to guy. Hell, Carcillo had many a "first line" minutes a few years ago. Q needs to figure out how to coach this group of guys.
