To me, I think Calgary made it clear to me what the Leafs biggest issue is. They can't seem to handle a heavy forecheck. Calgary didn't establish much of a forecheck the entire game and the Leafs just kept breezing back up the ice. As soon as our D is pressured, Gardiner will spin towards the boards and shield the puck with one hand on his stick and no plan to go with it they seem to crumble and become turnover machines.

It seems like he is injured somehow. Obviously it isn't serious or he wouldn't be playing, but it is also obviously affecting him. Hopefully they get this figured out.

Like most rookies, he got a bit of a free pass last year in terms of "special attention". This year, he's getting lots of a little wacks, late hits, and cross-checks (Weber had a couple of beauts, good ol' untouchable Olympic Canadian boys ) as to be expected when you're an elite player.
