If you remember nothing else I said, remember I said this about the 2017-18 Leafs: we may not win the Stanley Cup, but this is going to be the most fun we've had as Leafs fans since 1993. They are going to play a brand of hockey that will make them one of the most exciting teams in the league to watch.

Player Predictions

Forwards

Bozak, Tyler: I don't hate him anymore as he is now our #3 centre, but his days in Toronto are numbered. Thanks Bozie, and smell you later. He'll have a good year, but a big part of that will be his line mates.

Kadri, Nazem: should thank his lucky stars that Babcock became Leafs coach. He took heat from the haterz for saying he wanted to be compared to Tavares - hell, I loved it. I predict he will have about the same season as last year - which will make me very happy.

Matthews, Auston: right now, when Leafs fans say that he is in the top tier with McDavid and Crosby, fans of other teams laugh. They won't be laughing at the end of the season. By the end of this year, he will be widely recognized as one of the top 3 players in the league. Yes, he is that good. I've never seen a Leaf with more raw talent - and that includes Sundin.

Moore, Dominic: Meh. He's a 4th liner/pressbox guy, so I really don't care either way.

Hyman, Zach: as long as he gets to play with Matthews, he will continue to get points that are out of whack with his talent level. Look for him to be dropped down the lineup starting in December-January, and you'll see a corresponding drop in his point totals.

Komarov, Leo: if he takes another equipment penalty, I'll lose my poop. He'll continue to be a 3rd liner, when he would be better suited to 4th. Won't make a difference - either positive or negative.

Marleau, Patrick: I really think we could have spent our money elsewhere. His stats will look fine at the end of the year, so people will think that justifies his signing, but we would have been better off using the money to re-up JVR and promoting a kid.

Fehr, Eric: in and out of press box. No significant impact on team.

Marner, Mitchell: same amount of points as last year.

Nylander, William: six more points than last year.

Martin, Matt: will continue to make me wonder why Babs loves him.

van Riemsdyk, James: less points than last year. Will continue to refuse to use his size.

Leivo, Josh: i don't care. Neither should you.

Brown, Connor: will see a significant drop in points - not his fault.

The defence

Carrick, Connor: will slide down depth chart as season progresses.

Gardiner, Jake: will continue to improve as Babs teaches him to hockey. Will get people on the interwebz to suggest he is worthy of Norris votes due to point totals. Those people will be wrong.

Hainsey, Ron: will be wrongfully critisized by Leafs Nation for not being a top 4 guy. That's not why we got him. I will be his biggest supporter.

Marincin, Martin: he's already been sent to the Marlies - and 30 other teams didn't want him.

Rielly, Morgan: 5 more points than last year.

Zaitsev, Nikita:top 4 guy, but won't improve.

Borgman, Andreas: who the hell knows? No prediction here.

The goalies
Andersen, Frederik: just please do not suck. He isn't a top tier guy, but being top 15 should be enough.

McElhinney, Curtis: so obviously things have changed. My prediction is he remains the backup this year.
