well that is good news about LTIR for hossa...

Bowman is in an unfamiliar trade situation where he does not need to get hosed. He might even be able to take advantage of another team in a tight spot. Some teams have to make some tough decisions beginning today.

Wrong Franson. We don't want "The Mule" from Detroit.

Bowman will have a good feel for his top four defense by Thanksgiving. Kempny and Ruuta may not be stellar, but they are even now evolving into descent defensemen. With Franson as a third pair, to acquire another guy on defense whom is descent.....behold....the blue line is not so weak or worrisome. Beside that, I have much faith in Samuelson helping the defense

On another topic, I am wondering how the centreice position lines up at Rockford. Whom does Fortin skate with?

I mentioned this on the last thread that imo taking into consideration the tough early schedule the Hawks have Bowman may not be able to wait and see how things are going. If the Hawks get off to a slow start they could dig a pretty big hole for themselves.

The restricted free agent forward carriesĀ an AAV of $1.85 million in his new deal, which is worth a total of $5.55 million, according to TSN Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun.

I know it is a big ask (considering his history), but I would love to see Toews start out like Hossa did scoring last year just to get him rolling early. Any news on how his back is doing? I know he got pegged by Keith in the leg in the last game, but it would be great to see everyone on the "1st" line rolling to start off the season.

It might be a good thing if DeBrincat wins a couple games we had no business winniing in the early schedule.

How is that happening?

The shootout!

Pretty good interview with Tazer on how he wants to change his game from a heavy style to a speed game.

Long time......

I don't see any trade by Bowman in the near future unless an injury happens to a core player.

The Hawks will most likely give a long look to Schmaltz at center, hayeden, 12, and others to see what they have. 10 games? 20 games? All depends on how the other known assets play.

lets not forget for most of last year 19,2, and 7 were horse crap. So any hopes of this team becoming a TRUE cup contender again relies on those 3 finding their A games again, and 50 playing well without a suitable back up spelling him games.

I don't mind the Franson thing, assuming it works out....he's fine as a 6th/7th D man and can help spell top guys on the PP. I hope Murphy pans out. To me this, like 19/2/7, is another huge variable that has to land right for this team to get back to where it's one goal propaganda forecasts them to be......

Hopefully Bowman made the changes to combat the glaring weaknesses Nashville pointed out in a short swift pounding last spring, and still has an eye out in Alberta with a team, much like the 2008-09 Hawks, in the Oilers that is ready to take the next step. That's your measuring stick in the West....just as it was in the mid-late 80s.

I also wouldn't be shocked to see 12 skate with 8/88. Q knows what Sharp brings and putting 12 in a spot to succeed, alla Saad when he was paired with 81/19, might expedite his learning/growth curve. Yes, I know 8/88 is not close to what 19/81 bring shift in and out, at least 8 isn't anyways.

Should be an entertaining season as this Hawks teams has a lot of questions that need to be answered before anyone can can truly dub them a true cup contender.

As much as I dislike it, I've resigned myself to the fact that Franson is gonna be around. I can only hope that it's a very low $ contract and that he sits in the press box most nights.

I see that all 3 of our guys passed thru waivers. This should help to make the Rockford team pretty competitive, providing they all report.

Agree on the bolded, Rainman. Patience and an eye on the big picture (not the specialty of this Board!!) will be required as this team goes through some growing pains to answer those questions. I figure 20 games in, we should have a better idea of where they're at.

Roman Polak is not being offered a contract in Toronto right now. I know he is coming back from an injury and is not 100% yet (pretty close). He played 10 min in one preseason game. But if Polak were 100% healthy and they had the same price tag would you rather have Polak or Franson.

I'd take Franson over Polak any day of the week.
