Still very bad for JT to leave the Isles with nothing without asking for a trade. It's a wimp move.

If JT went along with Garth and Cappy for years and now leaves with Lou and Trotz running things, it's a horrible look for JT.

I still say that if Tavares leaves -- and despite all this "Tavares earned the right to do this" stuff -- he should have told the Isles long ago he wanted to go elsewhere. Any doubts he had about the Isles being committed to building a winner should have been erased with the management/coaching changes. They may make moves that don't work out, but they're obviously committed to doing what it takes build a winner as quickly as they can. So it's more a matter of personal preference...where he wants to play...and that could have been communicated back before the trade deadline rather than at the very last possible second when multiple opportunities for the team to prepare to move on without him have passed.

I mean, ultimately I blame Snow and co. for letting it get to this point, but if Tavares is set on going elsewhere, it'd have been nice if he rewarded the team's patience by saying so. It's not like there'd be any less of a bidding war for him.

Unfortunately for him he didnt have a choice really back then. But i agree, they've done everything possible to appease him, so if he walks, phuck him.

Listen JT has every right to walk away but I'll tell you if the Staple story is right about not asking to be traded at the deadline and telling anybody who would listen that he wants to stay here and hopes it works out and then bolts a day before UFA starts leaving the isles with their dack in their hands its BS. Especially after bringing in Lou & Trotz I hope the isles fans destroy him at every turn. If he has no intention of staying he should have let them know by now so they can move on to plan B, whatever the fack that might be

If he leaves then goodbye. At this point I couldn’t care less. I am not going to lose sleep over it or jump off a bridge. This team will rebound and when you lose a star player best thing to do is play harder make the playoffs and laugh. Look at duchense he wanted to go to a playoff team and Ottawa is a disaster

Kinda funny that even with Snow out as GM, the after effects are still lingering.

Could not agree more UIF. JT has not handled this the right way. Still think JT remaining silent on Garth and Cappy for years hurt as well. He did not have to go to the press but could have went to the owners. Especially to Malkin.

No it shouldn’t but J.T. loved him supposedly. I am not even angry over this cause I feel the islanders will be faster and stronger.

JT could have asked for a trade at the deadline and could have talked to Malkin when they had control a few years ago about getting in a better GM and coach.

No matter what the isles are trending upward. Im very happy about their future for once. This last draft was a homerun IMO. Its just horrible to lose a guy like that for nothing. To put things in perspective, if 91 was offer sheeted and signed for whatever he's about to get, the isles woulda gotten 4 firsts rounders for him. So to lose this guy for nothing is really bad.

No two ways around it. It's mostly on the Isles for letting it get this far, but JT could have asked out at the deadline if he was unsure about returning.

Whatever decision is made the isles will move forward. Its almost the perfect ending to the Snow saga being that Tavares was Snows biggest draftee. Im happy to be moving on from Garth Snow, and if Tavares doesn't feel the isles are good enough, then he can take his binder elsehwere. I'll actually go to games now, even if they suck.

As bad as Garth was, it was ownership who took over the process and let JT control things.
