I’m not looking forward to seeing that zero effort piece of crap back in this line up. Whatever we won (frank) Ladd.😂
- Cptmjl

Would be lousy if MDC needs to go back because of Ladd. If MDC needs to be included in a deal for a needed piece that's different.

No longer sure there even is a "needed piece".... Trotz is getting good play out of nearly all these guys. Even Pelech seems to have elevated his game. The goalies have been very good. The bottom 6 forwards too.

Always room for improvement but right now not a lot of glaring weaknesses. Barry seemed happy with MDC during his post game comments. I think MDC deserves to stay and I would not look to deal him.

Hey guys ! Long time listener, first time caller....I agree about MDC. It doesn't make sense to trade him, especially as an add on piece in a trade. He's finally getting his chance, and he's not blowing it.

Why not? We’re winning without him and paying him. Don’t fix something that ain’t broke. (frank) Ladd can’t sit a player who is playing well because he has a big contract. (frank)ing absolutely worthless player.
- Cptmjl

Yup. That (frank) cant skate on double runners. My absolute most hated islander of all time....and that's saying something if I do say so myself.

Wonder what Filpulas advanced stats look like this year? He's been a pleasant surprise for me. I also think Pelech looked solid tonight, although I realize he hasn't been a fan fave...ever. Leddy too. I think the trots effect is really setting in...

Pelech looked good last night defensively. His stick was in every lane. Phuck Hickey.....don’t change a thing. They’re winning.

Toews getting benched for Hickey would get a ton of negativity hurled at it and deservedly so. Sit Pelech and call it a day sitting toews would be mind numbigly stupid.
- Cptmjl

It certainly sounds like Trotz is a very big fan of Toews. He was not the guy who wanted to send him down to b=port to start the season in the first place. I can't see him sitting him unless his play takes a really bad turn.

Still a terrible trade no matter how much you try to spin it
- Vukota

It was the Pick that was terrible... still can't believe we took him in that draft. Conner, Skinner and Fowler were still there and we all wanted those guys. Nino was out of left field. Then we followed it up the next year taking Strome instead of Cout or Dougie Hamilton.

Ilya Sorokin

The 23-year-old goalie is still excelling in the KHL for CSKA, posting a .942 save percentage and 1.17 goals-against average in 32 games, both in the top five in the league. And, according to sources, Sorokin is still interested in coming over when CSKA’s season is done.

When we reported this in December there was some understandable pushback from reporters based in Russia — Sorokin is still KHL property and that league is pretty reluctant to let its elite players bolt for the NHL. Two North American sources say that there is no buyout window for a player to initiate such a move, only that it must be done before the end of the league year.

Sorokin still has one season left on the three-year deal he signed with CSKA so the buyout is likely not prohibitive. If he does come to North America for next season, Sorokin would be on a one-year entry level deal with the Islanders and would be waiver-exempt; whether Lou Lamoriello would commit to giving the Isles net to an NHL rookie is definitely a big question, even a goalie with Sorokin’s KHL track record of four seasons with .929 or better save percentages.

Sorokin’s North American agent, Paul Theofanous, was seen at the Islanders practice facility earlier this week after presumably meeting with Lamoriello. Since they are still meeting to discuss Sorokin, it’s clear that there are no restrictions on the goalie buying out his deal. The only restriction is that Sorokin must be the one to do the buying out. The Islanders are forbidden to contribute and they can’t negotiate a contract until Sorokin’s KHL deal is done.

It's strange how Fowler was passed by a number of teams. He really should have been the pick. Isles seem in great shape on Defense now but still. I do not remember a lot of pushback from hockey people on Strome? He did not seem like a big reach pick?

If Sorokin does come over, do the Isles let Robin walk? I would think they trade Greiss especially since he would only have a year left and he has played well this year?

I just remember who we all wanted before each draft on these HB boards. Strome was never mentioned by any of us... same with Nino. Ironic that we all would have done a better job drafting early first round picks than the Isles did.... I will give them some credit for 2008 b/c most wanted Filatov... who was a bust. then when we moved down we wanted Luke Schenn... neither were great and we moved down twice getting extra picks and then took Bailey and Hamonic with one of those extra picks.

In the Strome draft most guys LOVED Doug Hamilton. I like Sean Couturier a lot.. he was originally thought to be number 1 over all in that draft and he dropped considerably going into draft. I was praying he would be there for us... big 2 way Center.. etc. We took Strome and he fell to Philly

Seems like the likely scenario. There's more to that article that goes on to discuss Lehner more in-depth, as well as Bobrovsky. Apparently the Isles have not had any discussions with Lehner's camp about a new deal up to this point. I would imagine this is because they're waiting to see what happens with Sorokin before making any long-term financial commitments.

Greiss' deal makes him hard to move, even with one year remaining, so unless Lehner would want to accept a majorly discounted deal (in money and term) to be the backup to Sorokin...I doubt he has a future here.

I wanted Skinner in the 2010 draft b/c he scored 50 goals for Kitchner in 64 games. Flat out sniper... Most teams passed on him b/c he was too slow. I still love that guy..
