I think said disappearances had more to do with who was behind the bench and systems the team played.
I mean, can anyone remember seeing Nelson playing such a complete game before? Until this season, I thought he was very one dimensional. Same could be said for Lee even.

- Wildschwein

I think what you’re seeing now is the isles in their own end are playing a complete game. They scored goals last year they just couldn’t defend. If you notice now the shots they do give up are usually low percentage areas. They’re keeping guys to the outside and not allowing free reign in the slot. They used to just panic in their own end, whereas now i see a more calm/calculated effort.

I don't think it will happen until Belmont is built.
- JimmyP

I don’t think it’s going to be an issue. ESPECIALLY if they stay at the coliseum and players don’t have to do that ridiculous Brooklyn commute.

I agree with that but if you couple the two of them and the team making the playoffs even after losing pj boy that has to send a real message. Only negative is where they are playing or at least the uncertainty
- Upstate_isles

If they play most games at Coli it has to help. It's very weak if players still stay away if the team makes the playoffs and has Lou and Barry running the show.

Good points schwein. Bailey is still a concern though. Nelson has played well this year and Lee was not much of a concern.

Oh Lee had his share of brain farts as well. I absolutely love Lee, but his two way game was a (frank)ing mess last year. No so this year, and he's still on pace for 25+G/60+P.

My God what magnificent man.

I think hiring Lou lam brought instant credibility. Lou hiring Trotz who just won the cup also made the isles a reputable organization. Now, competing with the best teams in the league, and it’s not your same old isles. I do not see a problem luring FAs here now. I truly believe Garth was a detriment to bringing guys here.

The arena is a non issue at this point. Shovels will be in ground come spring. So it’s either gonna come down to having a real team or getting paid. Both of which the isles can offer.

How many years did we hear about lack of secondary scoring??? Me thinks it’s not by coincidence it’s happening under Trotz

Pretty bad if playoffs, Lou, and Barry and Isles cannot land Panarin or Duchene
- ses111

Keep in mind the Isles haven't proven anything yet. They are doing well and certainly exceeding expectation, but who knows what will happen. For all we know they squeak into the playoffs and get crushed 4-1 in the first round.

There are plenty of reasons to be optimistic, but I'm not sure there is enough to sell a top FA.

I mean they could miss the playoffs too. But, they are trending upward. There’s no denying it. The suck is over

Wow. Outside Filpulla, is anyone else sporting an unusually high shooting %, or are these numbers sustainable?

Cizikas for sure. Nelson is overachieving a decent amount too.

Trotz said left wing Andrew Ladd (injured reserve/lower body), who’s been out since Nov. 13, has resumed skating on his own. Defenseman Thomas Hickey (injured reserve/upper body), who missed his 13th straight game, continues to skate on his own. Trotz said there was no timetable for either to return…Valtteri Filppula tied Anders Lee and Jordan Eberle for the team lead with his third game-winning goal.

As long as we keep seeing the words "Andrew Ladd" and "no timetable," we're good.

Even if they get crushed, you have the track record of Lou and Barry. We are talking about Duchene and Panarin and not Crosby or Malkin. FA's should see the talent of Barzal and players like Beau, Pulock, and Toews. It's very sad if the Isles lose out to the Rangers on Panarin.

Lee always had the effort and it was due to lousy coaching. Bailey and Nelson had the lousy coaching and effort.

He is so effing frustrating to watch... His first shift in the game he gave the puck away 3 times in O-zone doing one of his dumb arse passes. shoot the effing puck Josh.. you don't always have to do a no look pass.

This is the age where both Ok and Bailey turned it around and we all hoped it would be same for Nelson. I am sure contract year and coach helps a lot too, but he is not disappearing for months like in the past.
